I was in the Diamond Bar area craving some Taiwanese food and I had seen this place so many times going to H Mart. This is one of my friends favorite places to get good quality Taiwanese food so I decided to give it a try. It's family-owned too, which is even better. When I walked in, the lady said hello and she was super nice and helpful with all of her recommendations. I settled on the Zha Ziang Mian, which I was excited to try because I've only had the Korean version. The service was quick and I was impressed. The lady packed it up in a bag and I could tell she really cared that I had a good meal. I ate all of it and the only thing I would complain about is that the soybean paste was a little too salty, but maybe that's the way it's usually made. I definitely like the Taiwanese version better than the Korean version because the Korean version is more sweet than it is savory. I'll be back to try another Taiwanese dish! read more

If you're in the mood for Taiwanese food, this place is a decent option. The food isn't very salty or oily, but the portion sizes are small compared to similar cafes. We ordered the pork chop rice and it was mostly rice with four thin strips of pork chop, plus a few pieces of bok choy and half a marinated egg. On the positive side, the gentleman who helped us was really nice, they accept credit cards, and the location is definitely convenient. Overall, this place is just alright. read more

4.5/5 stars but rounding up to 5 cause they actually serve legitimately prepared Taiwanese food and they aren't too crazy expensive too. Ever since I moved to California in 2005, I've gone to at least 4 or 5 different 101 Cafe/Good Time Cafe restaurants all in different cities and it's consistently been good during every visit. The one in Diamond Bar is I think the last standing one () and it's in the Hmart plaza right along diamond bar boulevard. My absolute favorite thing to order here is the "Check A Rice Noodle w/ Soup". It's a pork based broth that also has flat noodles. SUPER SIMPLE but SUPER DELICIOUS. The soup is flavorful and it's really savory and a good dish when you are feeling cold or under the weather. This is a hit or miss but I also really enjoy their sliced goose meat. It's a little pricey but the quality and the cut of the meat is pretty good! My last favorite thing is the fried tofu! I mean it's hard to mess it up but they do it really well here the owners are also from Taiwan too so COME SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESSES!! read more

As I'm sitting here for lunch because their weekday special is pretty cheap and legit. I always see so many different families here. Some with very young kids and some with teens and old and young folks all together. Yes mostly this place is filled with Chinese people but you can read their menu since it's also in English. Ordered the pork pottage I believe it's called it's a soup base with veggies, pork and your choice of noodles. My picture will show you how it is. I would say come here for the lunch special because they give you a cold ice tea, appetizer and also a bowl of yummy soup which I think is my favorite thing to have. I have ordered here for dinner and yes it's a little expensive and for sure order inside and not take away because I feel like the take away gives you less for portion size. When I told them they just shrugged it off and picked up the phone and put it back on the hook. No thank you or sorry or anything. Then the phone started ringing. I literally helped them get business and they shrugged me off. I ordered 6 items and they only gave me 4 chopsticks. I asked for more and they said "I already gave you some." But I have 6 items. They gave me 1 more. I asked for another and she have me the evil eye and hesitated. I paid nearly $90 for not enough food and they were too cheap to give 1 pair of chopsticks for each item! BEWARE!!! NEVER GO HERE. Worst Taiwanese food I ever had. I will never go back to this restaurant. The service is horrible. No one at counter, I had to call from inside the restaurant.. He was rude and not friendly when he did show up. Food was cold and tasteless, no flavor at all. I am from Shanghai and eat Taiwanese all the time. Plenty of good restaurants in the area and do not need to go to this one. On top of that they refused to let me use the restroom saying it was against state law. Liar and lazy. We're a fan of their fried pork chop over rice. I used to go to the rowland heights location under the name of plaza deli..but that place closed earlier this year and i've been on a quest to find a similar type of fried pork chop and was almost convinced that i'll never have anything like it again... My mom called me yesterday and said she heard that they opened up a place in diamond bar..I immediately took my bf here for dinner to try it out and it's exactly the same restaurant except with a different English name...the chinese name is still the same though.. We ordered the fried pork chop rice, stinky fried tofu, some kind of sticky rice dish, meat ball, and the shrimp egg omelet. The taste was totally the same as the ones I had before at either Plaza Deli or Good Time Cafe. The service was pretty good here too, they came around to make sure we got all the stuff we ordered and refilled the tea pot when needed. AND...this place takes credit cards..i think with min $15 purchase. YAYYYYYYYYY! Good place for some good old Taiwanese comfort food. read more

This place used to be one of my favorites, and I ate here at least once a week since childhood (even before they moved to this location). The food used to be delicious and the portions used to be generous. But now, they gave us tiny take out boxes while we dined inside. The portion sizes were ridiculously small, about HALF a bowl of rice with some toppings. The side vegetables (3 broccoli stems) and HALF of a tea egg were icy cold. I could probably fit the entire meal in the palm of my hand. Yet, each entree costs $12. After a 30 minute wait, they gave us one wrong entree (out of 4 total). To make up for it, they gave us ONE small sliver of pig ear on a sauce dish. We couldn't eat the wrong entree due to allergies, but they didn't remake the item. There was only one other customer in the store at the time we went. Will not be visiting again. read more

When you're having a major craving for some authentic Taiwanese food this is the place to go in the DB area and don't feel like driving all the way to RH. The place is a quaint little shop in the H-Mart strip mall directly next door to Cherry on Top. The decor is your typical chinese food place with tables all around the perimeters with 2 large flat screen tvs on the ends of each wall. The menu consists of all your typical Taiwanese good eats ranging from rice dishes, appetizers, noodles, and a large selection of side dishes and even drinks. You definitely can't go wrong with the usual Pork Chop rice or noodles, or the super yummy oyster pancake. If you're not a seafood lover you can get the egg pancake version (pretty much the same batter and recipe as the oyster pancake without the oysters). They also have a nice selection of hard to find authentic TW soup dishes like the korean squid soup on rice instead of the typical noodle version. Our family really enjoys Taiwanese food and today's lunch did nit disappoint. We had a late lunch (around 1:30pm) so the area wasn't crowded. The staff were really welcoming and nice. We ordered multiple dishes and our food came out right away. Our absolute favorite was the beef noodle soup and the green onion pancake beef roll. The noodle soup is one of the best we've had (and it'll be the reason we come back in the future), the broth was flavorful, the beef was tender and flavorful, and the noodles were qq. Overall, the taste was really authentic and reminded us of the noodle soup we had in Taiwan too! Though the beef rolls were smaller than other restaurants, the sweet and salty flavor as well as the crunchy green onion pancake really carried it. The oyster egg pancake was pretty good too but definitely different from the typical flavors. Next time we come back, we definitely want to try their stinky tofu and pork/rice blood. read more

There was no language barrier as well because my friend was able to speak Mandarin, so there is no excuse for how she spoke. We ordered 10 items and it was the right amount of food for 6 people. The hot and sour soup (S11) tasted more like the sour version found mainly in China. There wasn't much meat or ingredients in the pork soup (P1), but the flavor was excellent. The pork rice (A7) dish was a little disappoint since it was just a mixture of flavors rather than being able to taste the different parts of it. The stinky tofu (A31) was cut into small cubes and the smell certainly protruded through the Styrofoam. It included a sweet and spicy sauce to be used for the tofu, though I'd say both the tofu and the sauce didn't seem to have much flavor. Overall, the foods seemed mediocre. It has decent taste, average price, and good portion sizes, but there wasn't anything in particular that every just said oh this dish is amazing. read more

Same owners as Nice Time Deli (Hao Nian Dong). There were four servers on duty, and seriously they were all clueless. Didn't even write down one of the dishes we ordered and got another order wrong. But at least they were nice and tried to make things right, which at most places like this would typically be unlikely. So anyways, we order the green onion pancake, which turned out to be the best dish. Very flaky yet with a substantial chewy factor. We also get cold cut goose meat, omelet rice, oyster/egg, boiled veggies w/meat sauce, pan fried radish cakes, stir fried combo rice noodles, chicken/clam soup and pig's blood soup. The goose meat was actually pretty good as well as the oyster/egg. The omelet rice, usually made with ketchup, was too sweet. Boiled veggies were okay, but a bit oily. The pan fried radish cakes were flavorless and didn't have a good crunchy texture all around. The rice noodles weren't bad. Not as oily as others. The soups were both actually pretty good. Acceptable tasting food. The quality is O.K. and the prices are O.K., but I've been to better tasting restaurants in Rowland Heights which give bigger portions for approximately the same prices. I honestly don't prefer eating here, but it's convenient and quick when I'm too lazy to drive to Rowland Heights area for my Taiwanese food fix. The service is sub par, but the food comes out fast and they've never gotten my orders wrong. I like that they have such a large variety of items on the menu, which can be overwhelming, but if you are familiar with Taiwanese cuisine, you'll recognize all the popular dishes. I've ordered their xiao long bao (shanghai style dumplings), oyster omelette w/the sweet ketchup sauce, stinky tofu, boiled pork and cabbage dumplings, pan fried onion cake, fried pork dumplings, beef noodle soup, shrimp fried rice, some typical sauteed veggie dishes, & fried pork chop with rice. I've caught about 10 errors...funny ones too and had a good laugh. Though l know what they meant, some others may not. Other than that, the food is ok. I thought the pan fried dumplings were on the teenier side. Many other places serve them a bit bigger and juicier. I had the sliced beef with rice cake and thought it was alright.
