    Custom made with "special" broth
    Eliza O.

If you like hot pot and a lot of choice, this is your place. You start with a really large (!) bowl and choose whatever you want. They weigh it and charge by the pound. Then choose your broth - we got the "special" which was a blend of beef and pork. Medium spice turned out to be spicy enough - really good kick without being too much. But if you're more sensitive to spice, I'd go with mild. Then they take it all and bring out a lovely kettle of deliciousness. (They have different sizes based on how much you put in your bowl.). There's a little sauce bar to customize your meal even more. The lady who helped us (owner?) was happy to show us how things worked, which was appreciated. You can find it in the Vons center at Lemon and La Puente. It's not huge but there's good seating and has a comfy feel to it - like going to your auntie's restaurant after school for a yummy snack. I'm happy to have a good hot pot place that's close to home!

It was raining hard today so hotpot was the best option for lunch. LXF opens right at 11:30am and there were other people already inside. The set-up is simple: you are given a clear bowl to get the meats, noodles, accoutrements and veggies you want, which will be weighed. It's $12.99 a pound. You choose whatever soup base you want (we went with the secret sauce - delicious!) and you wait a few minutes. You have the option of creating your sauce at the sauce station, for dipping the meats into. They gave us these gelatinised pork skin cubes later on and I added that to my soup. Pretty flavorful! I was just disappointed that they didn't have any appetizers we could order - they had all these photos of appetizers on the wall so we were confused as to why they didn't offer it. Great value, delicious food. Totally recommend this place.

It was so much colder yesterday, and we were craving for malatang for lunch. I went to the LXF Malatang for a to-go. The price is changed to $12.99/lb, but it was still a good price. (compared to the other Malatang places, which charged $13.99/lb to $15.99/lb) I ordered a pork bone broth with mild spicy and I chose many ingredients that we liked. It was about 1.74 lbs. The portion was more than enough for both of us. The friendly owner reminded me to get the sauce to go from the sauce bar. The broth was delicious and addictive as usual. This place is one of our favorites in our neighborhood, even though it's small but cozy, the food and service were great.

Is this the best malatang place? No. But is it in Walnut? Yes! Went on a cold day and this absolutely hit the spot; ordered the tomato broth and all the possible hot pot items were available. The small sauce bar was also stocked with everything you'd want. This very casual spot has ample parking, and while service is friendly, it is small so it fills up quickly, especially on cooler days.

Nice Malatang in a residential area. Food is fresh and lots of choices to choose from.

Came on a Sunday night at 7:30 and it was packed!!! Hence it was raining and cold.. Luckily we only waited about ten minutes and a table opened up but this place is busy!!! They bussed and cleaned the table very quickly It was really good! And I think very reasonably priced! I ordered 1.36lb of food? I had to take some stuff home bc I couldn't finish it all! They have a deal right now. Cheaper price per pound? I Absolutely loved the soup! The beef broth is good and the secret broth is very good! It is a mixture of both beef and pork! I got the medium spice and it had a good kick! Very oily but still good. I liked their selection of food and service was really good. The server was a sweet Chinese lady with broken English and she was so nice! Their selection isn't as broad as other places I've been too but I really like how hot their bowls are and the broth itself is amazing! This might be the new spot!!!

Located in the Vons shopping center on Lemon and La Puente. Probably the closest place in Walnut for pick your own ingredients hot pot - and it's a good one! Kind of a mom & pop - friendly service. Grab a bowl ( it's a big bowl!) as you walk in, they'll ask how many in your party to get a table ready, grab your ingredients, take to counter, pick your broth and spiciness, they weigh it, and then go to your table and wait for them to bring it out - you pay later. While waiting, you can go to the sauce bar and make your own sauce. We got the special broth that had a blend of pork & beef and medium spicy. Everything blended well - ingredients and broth. If you don't like the ingredients, you only have yourself to blame. lol. Our bowl came out hot and full of flavor. I like their special broth and the spiciness was perfect for me. It carried a good amount of spice/heat but was still good enough to drink the broth. We actually took leftover broth home to make another meal. So glad this place is in Walnut. It's a lot easier going here than into the neighboring cities. It's a good hot pot place and I'll be visiting again.

Lots of options at the bar, super clean, fresh ingredients. Great clean atmosphere. great friendly service. Broth is good.

For what it is, the food was pretty good. The place isn't much to look at and I was really confused that they had a bunch of posters up displaying food they don't offer. I tried asking if I could order some for appetizers but the food server kept repeating, "only hot pot". Decent place for a decent price.

Secret Soup: 5/5 Tasting more like a regular hotpot, the broth was very flavorful and had a strong kick. Even at medium spice, the broth had a solid warmth without burning your mouth. The ingredients were fresh, the sauce bar full, and I think they give you free rice. Come here with confidence knowing that their food is great. Also, when you see only Chinese customers, you know that something is hitting right. Peach Gum Resin: 4.5/5 Maybe a 2/10 for sweetness, but the slightly chewy and gelatinous resin in cold milk really soothes the stomach after a spicy and hot meal. Slightly floral and peachy, a great little dessert. Ambiance: It is what it is. It's clean but does have a sort of "cheap" restaurant dinginess to it, but I think it's charming. Service: Food came out kind of slow but the workers are very nice for a Chinese restaurant. It's a Chinese restaurant for Chinese people. Parking: The restaurant is located in a huge plaza. Easy parking.

A fairly new malatang that opened less than a year in the Vons plaza on lemon and la puente rd. It's right next to the laundry place. In the city of walnut, or in city of industry on valley blvd, a malatang restaurant is super rare. I have seen their names on doordash, tried it a couple of times through the app, it is decent but only thing is that even the mild is too spicy for me. I saw their yelp reviews and they got a 4.8 average of ratings which its very good so i decided to come down to the restaurant to try dining in. There is plenty of parking out there as the parking lot is shared with Vons and other stores in the strip mall. Upon coming in, there is only one lady thats working. She doesn't speak English that well. I told her a couple of times a party of 1 and i asked where do i sit but she seem lost. Maybe she was too occupied on her task but she was nice. This place is somewhat small. There are approximately 8-9 tables and some counter seats the more you walked in. The interior of this place looks more like an old chinese restaurant comparing to other malatang place. The food area is clean but the store inside looks old. They have 4-5 different soup base and one of them is called "secret soup" base. She recommended me to get that and i asked her a few times what is in there but she didn't tell me. I understand its "secret" but at least she should try to find out if theres anything i dont eat or not able to eat thats contained in the soup base right? Fine, not a big deal but that frustrated me a little. I decided to give the "secret soup" base a try. The taste is decent and spice level is above mild although i wanted mild. However, i never got the chance to find out what is so secret or special about it nor did the staff told me. Plenty of food options to pick and price wasn't the most expensive comparing to other malatang places. They were slow to provide me with my utensils and water after i sat down. Then for the longest time, the lady/staff there was gone or went inside and i tried getting the bill but couldn't find anyone to help me. Then a guy/staff came out and start helping people with their need. HIS english is worse than the lady and i had to help another customer pointing something to the guy/staff to get something. When i was paying for the bill, they didn't add the soda i took out from the fridge and I had to remind him because the lady/staff didn't input it in the system. Overall this place is not bad, just an average malatang place. I normally would give it a "3" star however since they are small business and the staff was nice although they speak limited english, I will give this place a "4" star for their helpfulness and effort. The high rating of the previous review isn't consistent with what I experienced but maybe they too wanted to be nice to this place. I hope they really read everything i said and improve in their business because if not, you cannot be competitive enough to stay in business for a long time.

I am so happy another Malatong opened up near my work. We came during lunch on a weekday and the restaurant had a steady flow of customers. You get your pick of different toppings and they have a ton of soup base for you to choose from. I chose the tomato broth with mild spice (will get the medium next time). I love the black bowls the meals are served with because it keeps the soup hot the whole time you are enjoying the meal. The server was super friendly and it felt very homey. Will definitely make this our regular lunch rotation spot.

The food here is really good especially for the price! The beef has a good amount of fat and they have a great variety of toppings and sauces. Service was pretty good as well. I don't like spicy at all and their pork broth was very flavorful!

There are many multitudes of hot pot places to choose from one of that place is Lao Ma Tou Hot Pot in Rowland Heights. Given that this is a hot pot location expect typical customers to be of Chinese origin. On occasion, you'll have other nationals visiting, but that's the beauty of Hotpot. You don't have to speak the language to know what is good and what isn't maybe pigs brain is a bit far-fetched but as you see in the pictures pics, brain is actually very good. It almost taste like butter in your mouth. So we went here with a friend of mine's who speaks the language very well, so she was able to order some exotic meat for us to try. I think the next time we'll go we'll probably do the same and maybe order some more vegetable. We didn't order that much vegetable this time. Now the hot pot itself is divided in the middle between a lighter broth and a deeper broth. The deeper broth is pretty much spicy and you can see a bunch of peppers and chilies at the bottom of it and it's pretty red. The lighter broth is light in general and it's clear it has all the fixings and ingredients for a healthy diet. The main entrance to the restaurant is shown at the very top and you'll see it. It says LAO MA TOU HOT POT written in English and Chinese. When we got there, we wanted to inside table and we were almost seated immediately when we got there sensitive was just the two of us. We sat at the table that had opposite chair from each other. It's a bench, comfortable bench and the hot pot table is in the middle. As you get to the main entrance, they are tables to your left and table to your right there. They're also tables outside as well. I've roughly counted about 10 tables at the moment you walk in and as you go past the sauce table on your left on the side wall you greeted with about another nine tables at the back rear end of the restaurant outside I counted roughly about 6 to 9 tables. I didn't get a good clear count. Parking is pretty much shared throughout this whole shopping center so you can park close or you could park pretty far and why it just depend on what time of day you came. We came on a Saturday in the afternoon so roughly lunchtime. It was a good amount of folks there already eating. So once inside you roughly is greeted by the servers who are wearing aprons you can also request to have aprons already as well. Before you start dining. They start bringing all the cups plates, water, and whatever whatever else utensil you might need for the hot pot the best part and experience I have to say is when they brought the broth a bowl it's in like a portion in shape material and it sits right nicely into the middle of the hot pot tray so it makes it very authentic looking and feels like you're actually in China not to say that I've been to China all the servers and waitress and waiter are all very conservative and always smiling. It was quite an experience. So once you start dining here, you can always order a lot or order a little we decided to try a bit of everything so our tap came to almost a little over $100 but it's all up to you. I'm highly recommending this hot pot place to everyone who wants to try something different or new. The best part is the orders is ordered through the QR code provided at each table. Very convenient.

After looking over the three different menu tiers, I decided to go with Option C to ensure I had access to the most premium meat selections available. I was very impressed with the quality of the beef tongue and the wagyu, both of which were tender and flavorful, though I found the premium lamb in that same category to be fairly mediocre. I also sampled some items from the Option B tier and thought the youth lamb was quite tasty, although the ribeye ended up being a bit too dry for my liking. I appreciated the self-serve format because it allowed me to customize my meal with a decent variety of vegetables and appetizers like chicken wings, egg rolls, and seaweed salad, all topped off with their included drinks and a sweet jelly for dessert. Unfortunately, my positive impression of the food was dampened by the poor maintenance of the facility, as I struggled to walk across floors that were covered in a thick, dangerous layer of grease. I actually almost slipped and fell while heading to the bathroom, and once I arrived, I found the restroom itself to be quite dirty and neglected. While I enjoyed the meal and the birthday discount, I believe the management needs to address these safety and cleanliness issues to truly match the quality of their premium meat offerings.

When you walk in, it's super open and spacious, and honestly for an all-you-can-eat spot, the pricing is SO good. The best part? It's usually never packed and we never wait. Every five minutes (not exaggerating), the servers were checking in asking if we wanted to order more meat. I felt seen. I felt supported. I felt encouraged to eat more. And the best part? They refilled our tom yum & tomato soup, with the exact same soil base! Usually other hotpot spots would refill their normal bone broth, but they literally filled tom yum & tomato, which was amazing There are PLENTY of tables and so many protein options: Vegetarians? Covered -- all kinds of tofu. Seafood lovers? Shrimp, fish, mussels, clams. Meat lovers? You already know. Noodle section + veggie bar (which we bravely avoided to save room for meat). Unlimited rice. And the sauce station? Elite. Hubby and I are very saucy people, and the make-your-own sauce bar is dangerous in the best way. So many ingredients to mix and match -- it's basically a personality test in condiment form. As of February 2026 pricing: * $30.99 cash * $32.23 with card (3% surcharge) * Kids under 40 inches = FREE * 40-50 inches = about $13.99 And the cherry on top? Complimentary ice cream. With refills. I have been to several boiling point locations, particularly in the OC. I understand why the…read morereviews in this location is not the greatest, but wanted to give it a try. I arrived & plenty of parking spots and place was packed with customers. The wait was quick within a 2 min time frame and they directed me to our table. I don't think they knew I sat before the other customers arrived after me and they took their order. Had to flag a staff member down and they took my order. Food arrived and order the beef small pot with white rice. It was very hot and delicious. Overall 4/5. They need to improve on service and making sure customer are well taken care of.

I've been to boiling point so many times and usually have had a great experience because it's one…read moreof the only hot pot places that has a vegetarian option. However, I went in on a sunday with my husband and some friends 30ish min after opening, and when I ordered, I was told the vegetarian hot pot was out of stock which was so surprising because it was the beginning of the day. I asked for other options that could be made vegetarian and was given one option, when asking if I can substitute the meat for veggies or tofu, I was told that's not possible. I ended up getting a broth that was essentially all water. Not flavorful at all. Definitely not worth the money. Our other friend has a shellfish allergy and was making sure what he was ordering didn't have shellfish and the workers were unable to verify whether what he ordered was safe for him to eat. It took 10-15 min for us to get confirmation on his allergen and a substitute for me. While I understand restaurants can run out of options, it definitely sucks when there are really no alternatives present. Wish they updated their menu to note what was out of stock so that maybe we would have just gone somewhere else to eat that day. Still love boiling point, but will likely not come back to this location.
