Came to Yumiyaki to eat for my birthday and was amazed at the quality of their meat and seafood. My friend and I ordered their diamond menu which is $88 per person or $78 if you are a member. Since it was my birthday I got an additional $38 off which is applicable on the day of or +/- a day. The only difference between the gold and diamond menu is that you get a speciality dish, 2 extra meats and some sushi options and the price difference is $10. Everything on my visit was delicious and fresh. We ordered the uni toro bowl and otoro bowl with caviar for our speciality item. Both of the dishes had a good amount of toro on top which was flavorful. The uni and caviar was more of a garnish in my opinion. The A5 ribeye was grilled at table side. Since we ordered sukiyaki for our broth they gave us egg to dip our meat. Our server grilled our meat and placed it in our egg. The meat was soft and literally melted in our mouths. I could eat 20 orders of that and be satisfied. Our server ordered 1 of each of the meats for us to start off. It went down the menu so make sure which one you like. My favorite was the A5 chuck ribeye and full blood M9 chuck roll. All these are unlimited so order as much as you want. Those two cuts were most tender and not too fatty. They have scallops at the self service bar which were gigantic. I basically ate the whole container there since they were that good. Make sure not to cook it for too long as it will get rubbery. About 1 min in the boiling water is good. The sashimi and nigiri were delicious as well. The fish was buttery and thick cut. It came with salmon, yellowtail and tuna. They have different carpaccios as well and hand rolls/nigiri. Their service was good. Our server came to check in on us frequently and the other servers as well. Parking is tough as they share the lot with multiple businesses.

Reservation was made through yelp and we were seated promptly. At the time I went, parking was okay but since it is shared with multiple businesses so it can possibly be packed. The restaurant was clean and decorated with a vibe. The restaurant offers AYCE shabu meats and sushi. You can choose from two different option tiers (fyi it is more on the pricier side). Their Wagyu was tender and very flavorful and you can choose from a wide selection of nigiri and sashimi. Furthermore, there is also a serve it yourself bar with veggie, side dishes, sauces, curry, and drinks. At the end there are a few ice cream selections you can choose from. I always definitely go for the matcha! Overall it was a nice experience. The staff members were friendly, very attentive, and made sure to check up on us to make sure if we needed anything.

A5 Wagyu Nigiri w/ Foie Gras

Yumiyaki has been our go-to favorite restaurant ever since our first visit. Both the quality of the food and the service have not failed to impress even as the time passed. Both Elias and Jessica give us great service every time we come here, and are always friendly and attentive. Overall, every server is very kind and attentive, and the service here goes above and beyond. I, myself, mainly come here because their A5 Nigiri with Foie Gras is my favorite thing to eat, period. If you order sukiyaki, they cook the limited meat for you before starting the hotpot and it's delicious as well! I recommend getting the A5 Chuck Ribeye or brisket afterwards, the shoulder cuts are not my favorite. If you get the diamond menu, which I always recommend for the nigiris and A5 ribeye, you also get a specialty dish! Out of all of them, I'd have to say the uni toro bowl is the most enjoyable. The self serve bar is almost always full and you can select sauces, drinks, and hotpot sides there. They also have rice and wagyu curry, and if you want dessert, they have lots of ice cream flavors! I would definitely recommend here out of all the Chubby locations.

We need more Davids in this world. We didn't even have a reservation....just a spontaneous date night and zero plan other than "we want really good beef." My husband and I had already put our names down at another restaurant in the plaza, but I'm so glad I decided to take a quick walk instead. Because the second you open the door here... WOW. The smell alone is insane. Like actually hypnotizing. We literally drifted in just from how good it smelled. And by pure luck, David had a spot for us. Not only did he squeeze us in, but he made the whole experience feel next level. He walked us through the menu, explained everything so clearly, and when I just said "give us your best...something that'll make us come back," he did NOT miss. I've been thinking about that wagyu ever since He was so knowledgeable too...knew exactly where each cut came from and could explain every dish like a true meat connoisseur. David made a random date night turn into something we're definitely going to be talking about for a while. See you soon, David!

Made reservation thru Yelp and was seated at an early arrival Service was excellent and very attentive, kitchen staff was a couple of times but still no complaints Food was quality quantity and quality Meat selection were only a few but remember this is a shabu shabu that served A5. My friend never eats raw sushi but ordered the bluefin nigiri multiple times and is now a convert. My 3 Chubby group try and so far so excellent

A hotpot adventure indeed... Came on a Tuesday night around 8. Made reservations for 3 in advance. The plaza is not too big, parking is a hit and miss. When we entered, the workers greeted us right away. It was busy for Tuesday. Did a quick look around, the joint had a cool vibe. Family, friends or a date type of thing. Didn't wait long at all, we walked to our table within minutes. I looked at our options and theres 2 choices on the menu, gold or diamond. I said gold but after my friends glanced at the menu, we decided to go with Diamond. Our waiter was a gentleman, my friend had questions and he answered all of them. I told her to order and surprise me. Food came out fast, our waiter had to cook something first to start off. Before we know it, 4 rounds of meat and sushi haha. All in all everyone enjoyed it, will be back in the future.

The place is clean and service is good. Meat quality is absolutely great! Their have few nice small bars for vege/seafood, side dishes, curries, soft drinks, sauces and ice cream. Price can be a bit higher, but you definitely get what you pay for. Only thing is all small tables and needs reservations for dinners and weekends.

This place is top notch for their A5 Wagyu beef. My daughter loves sashimi so it's good that this location has it as an option. The side bar is very clean with additional food to choose from. Unlimited Calpico is a plus for sure! Just drinking that alone already makes your moneys worth . Definitely a great deal getting the membership. If you're in the mood for fois gras and caviar, that's an option, too. I'm Asian, trust me on that! The bill would've easily been over $120 if I went out for the same quality and quantity of food my daughter and I ordered. This girl is a money shredder when it comes to sashimi! Only small complaint is the staff isn't very attentive and had to wave someone down here and there. Also love how easy it is to find parking here and the restaurant isn't usually packed.

We dined here for Mother's Day and waited a bit past our reservation time, arriving at our table a little hungry and impatient. But Yang turned everything around immediately. He greeted us warmly, helped us get our orders in before we were even fully seated, and kept a smile on his face throughout our entire meal. His attentiveness and care made all the difference. The food was delicious as always, and the special Mother's Day raffle was a lovely touch. Thank you for making it such a memorable and seamless celebration!

I came here on a random weekday and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food ingredients. Our waiter was Nate; the service was prompt, attentive, and we fully enjoyed our meal without feeling rushed. We came here for an early lunch service, so the ambiance was chill. This might not be the biggest deal to many, but the part I enjoyed the most was the ice cream section (it was creamy, the right amount of sweet, unlike the usual hard, frozen and icy yuckiness when ice cream has been sitting in freezer for too long). Overall, I enjoyed my time here and would definitely be returning!

We called to make a reservation and we were running very late due to the rain and traffic! ____ answered the phone when we called and was able to move our reservation around to make it work! I'm very thankful he was able to move it around because the experience was amazing! Eduardo was our server and he was awesome! He kept checking in with us to make sure we had everything we needed! Him and the rest of the staff were always on it making sure there were no empty plates left on our table. We did the diamond menu and it was AMAZING! The whole experience from starters, the self serve bar, the sushi, and every wagyu was amazing! My favorite was the shoulder! The restaurant was small and cute with that coolest self serve bar I've ever seen! Amazing experience and cannot wait to come back!

Second time here and the food does not disappoint! The meat and tartare is so good that it all just melts in your mouth. The diamond set has more options compared to the Gold set. The self service has some seafood and veggies as well as milk tea, hot tea, ice cream, and Calpico! Our waiter is friendly and accommodating. The food items we ordered were also brought out quickly. Intimate and moody vibe , perfect with date night and catching up with friends. Although it can be a little tight if you over order/have more than four people at a booth/table.

Sukiyaki feast!
Shirley W.

Celebrated bday dinner here and it was a great experience! I liked how they offer both sukiyaki and shabu shabu here, but of course they seem more well known for their sukiyaki style. Menu may need a bit of explanation, but it's pretty simple once the server went over it with us! We went for the diamond tier sukiyaki since it seemed like most items recommended were from that menu set. We ordered the Wagyu Tartare w Cavier & the Uni Toro Bowl first as well as the Wagyu nigiris. Of these three, I enjoyed the Wagyu Tartare w Cavier the most! It was so refreshing with the avocado. The Uni Toro bowl was pretty good too, but a bit too fishy for me. Wagyu nigris were solids and melts in your mouth. Onto the meats, we didn't realize that the server actually just helped us get a round of each meat at first. Honestly they all just tasted like meat LOL but the one that stood out to us the most was the Chuck Roll. That one really goes well with sukiyaki and the egg together. All the meats were still all pretty good though! There is a veggie bar on the side where you can grab more ingredients for your pot. You know there's technically not a whole lot of veggies, it was mainly cabbage and this one other choy, but I wish they had a bigger variety. I enjoyed that they offered hot tea here, and their homemade milk tea. Although, their homemade milk tea was realllyyyyy milky. It tasted like there was a whole lot of condensed milk?? Not enough tea. I like how they also had the little side dishes to offer as well, the wasabi octopus was pretty good! Sauces offered on the side as well, and there's wagyu rice to make your own. We were extremely full after 2 rounds of the 4 meats. I got ice cream afterwards, but it just tasted store bought, nothing really special. Just get the meats here haha. Overall, very nice experience! I actually had sukiyaki in Japan last week, and I actually liked my experience better here. The restaurant isn't too big either so it's recommended to book a reservation here. It looks like it could get filled up during prime time. Decor is kinda bland here compared to all the chubby group locations. Also think they should invest in a real speaker or sound system for their music because it sounds like someone is just playing from out of their phone lol.

Do u guys serve alcohol?

Yes, they do.

Do they have rice or radish paper?

Yes, they have rice. Don’t recall they had radish paper.

If I have a chubby cattle membership is it also accepted in yumiyaki as well?

It depends on which membership you have. The Chubby Club One membership ($28 per month) is only good for one restaurant. The Chubby Club Plus membership ($58 per year) will work at all locations, Chubby Cattle and Yumiyaki included.

If I don't like the Sukiyaki, can I change back to Shabu Shabu?

Im sure you cannot do that ..

Do they offer a split pot for both broths?

NEGATIVE

Is there no reservations between 5pm and 9pm??? I don't see any time offered during that period?

They only offer walk in during peak dining hours, unless you own their NFT.

Does the chubby cattle membership work here? I have the membership for the chubby cattle in Rowland heights

I've been to Yumiyaki about 4 times and my Gold NFT perks was honored every time. But if you had a local membership at a different Chubby Cattle location, then no, you don't have those discount benefits there. So the question is, what kind of Chubby… Read more

Is this what place AYCE only or can you order a la carte?

It's AYCE only. Two different price tiers (Gold and Diamond) and you choose the broth (house/shabu or sukiyaki)

It looks like they take reservations ? Can anyone confirm?

Yes, you can make a reservation on yelp or through google.

Does a membership apply to the whole party when check out?

Local Membership applies to the member + 1 guest. However, multiple members can be part of the party. For example, if you and your friend both have a local membership, then you can get the local membership pricing for up to 4 people total.

How's the wait time in Saturday around 5pm?

Honestly weekday and weekend nights gets very busy, so try to come early or better yet get into their NFT program that helps put you on their priority waitlist.

No, you can only join within 5 miles

I went on a weekend (Sunday) afternoon around 4:30pm and waited 3 hours.

It's by height, under 100cm is free, 100-130cm is half price, 131cm+ is full price

If I buy your membership on my birthday, could I apply the $38 discount on the same day that I join? And the member price for Gold level is $68 off $38?

No, you have to purchase the membership on a previous day before redeeming your birthday perks. It cannot be the same day. And yes it would be discounted off the member price of whichever tier menu you choose.

How many people for the largest table?

Largest table fits 4. If you have a group of 6 you can get two tables next to each other if they are available, but there is a gap to get in and out between the tables (4 top + 2 top).

Do they have ginger for sushi?

If they do, it doesn't come default.

Can solo diners eat there?

Yes

In the Rowland Heights area, there is no shortage of spots for some delicious Japanese food. But…read morewhile many people see the volume izakayas and ramen shops, it's actually quite rare to stumble upon a traditional mom & pop spot that makes classic Japanese favorites. That's why I immediately came down to Tamaya when I noticed the laid back atmosphere, small storefront, and modest food offerings. Walking up on a Wednesday evening around 6:45PM, there was a line to eat in the small dining room. But we were seated relatively quickly. Looking at the menu, there were large variety of appetizers ranging from your chashu and takoyaki to tofu steaks and gyozas. But what I was interested in was the amount of different ramen options, curry plates, and don bowls. With so many choices, you're definitely in for more than your typical Japanese spot. For this visit, I decided to try their Meat Lover's Ramen which was $19.25 at the time of this review. And looking at the bowl, I was very pleased. For one, large chunks of beef, chicken, and chashu pork were all on the surface with some vegetables and cilantro. The noodles to ingredient ratio was pretty equal at about 50% noodles to 50% ingredients. And with a soup base that filled up to the top of the bowl, there was no justification needed for the $19 price tag. If you're looking for a ramen with mass quantity, Tamaya is definitely the spot for you! Taste-wise, the flavors did clash a little as the meats all had different flavors to them. But nonetheless, they all paired well with the rest of the ingredients. While the chunks of beef had a soy sauce undertone to them, the chashu was more sweet and fatty. The chicken tasted lightly stir-fried, but was chunky and filling. The noodles of this dish were softer, but tasted great with the creamy broth. And although the greens were garnishes, they tasted freshly washed and added some fresh flavors to the bowl of ramen. There are so many ramen shops in the San Gabriel Valley that get the hype from so many reviewers. And to that, Tamaya does just as good of a job at making a great ramen (if not better)! The place feels cozy and approachable for those looking to try different kinds of Japanese food, the prices for the food were very good in the Rowland Heights area, the food tasted delicious, and the offerings are very diverse compared to many other specialized places. Because of these offerings, Tamaya easily earns a 5/5 in my book and is a place I will return to again and again.

Now that same small fried rice is $7, so these days I usually just stick with the ramen. The interior has barely changed over the years, and the restaurant has stayed in the same location the entire time. What I really appreciate is how consistent the food quality has remained after all these years. I also love ordering their iced coffee every visit. It's funny because this is a ramen restaurant, but the coffee is surprisingly good and perfectly matches my taste. One of the reasons I enjoy coming here so much is the atmosphere. You can often hear the staff speaking Japanese, which really adds to the authentic vibe and makes it feel like you're eating at a small ramen shop in Japan. Definitely a place I'll keep coming back to.

This time, I tried the omurice, which is egg-wrapped, curry-flavored rice and chicken with your choice of sauce. I chose their curry, which I've always enjoyed. This also came with your choice of corn or miso soup and a salad. I also ordered a side topping of sautéed chicken as I was especially hungry that morning. The omelet wrapping the rice was nicely fluffy with a deliciously subtle blend of savory and sweet flavors. I enjoyed the diverse spices from the curry-flavored rice. With small chunks of chicken, the dish was slightly more filling. I wish there was just a little more curry portioned out. The sautéed chicken on the side was delicious and reminded me of times I enjoyed pan-fried steak dishes from Hong Kong cafes. Interestingly, the omurice came with seasoned fries and steamed carrots and green beans a slight touch of American cuisine). Overall, it was delicious combining all the flavors from the curry, rice, omelet, and sautéed chicken into one bite. Service was good. All our dishes had a nice and careful presentation. Our server also refilled my water without me asking. However, the restaurant can get loud due to the small interior. As usual, parking was in high demand, but we found a spot close to the north exit.
