I purchased 2 dimmable LED bulbs to replace halogen bulbs for a name brand hood over my kitchen range. The dimmable portion only worked on two of the three settings, when I addressed the chat agents they pointed out a PDF file online listing dimmers. When I asked about returning the bulbs they said I would not be refunded the $15.12 shipping cost and I would have to pay for return shipping. That would be around a total of $30 shipping for $4.88 worth of bulbs. THIS IS A SCHEME AND SCAM, DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THEIR OVERPRICED SHIPPING AND RETURN POLICY!!! They have a good website with a lot of information and good filtering which I appreciate. However, I placed an order for 3 bulbs, all of which showed as available. After a couple days, I hadn't received any notification about the order status, and then found a one sentence email saying that two of the items were not available and they cancelled the order because it was Paypal. I assume this is some sort of Paypal policy issue - but they certainly didn't explain it. They made no effort to help me find alternatives and didn't provide information on when the bulbs would be in stock. When I spend a lot of time searching for a product like this and order it, it's very frustrating to find out it's unavailable after I've placed the order. And I would expect them to make a little more effort to help out a customer under these circumstances. One terse sentence just doesn't cut it. I spent a couple more hours on their site looking for alternatives and just placed another order. We'll see how this one goes. Update 11/30/22: I placed another order with about 8 items. All showed as available on the site. After 4 days, there was no email indicating the order was shipping and nothing on the web site showing order status. I wrote to customer service and was told the order was being held because 2 items were out of stock and not expected for over a week. So - once again, availability info on website is wrong, they don't notify you after processing your order that items are out of stock, they don't notify you that your order will be held, and they don't do what most companies do which is ship you the rest of the order right away and ship the other items when they come in. Pros: product came quickly, too early to tell if the Christmas lights will last. Cons: disappointed there are only 5 colors of Christmas lights, I miss the purple pink ones that normally are part of a string of lights. Returns are expensive and prohibitive, so don't think about it. They only accept positive Reviews. If you try to warn people about anything, they say your review is outside their perimeters. First of all, I have since discovered there are other bulb sites that will give you a shipping break for orders over $99, so you might want to go with them instead of 1000Bulbs for that reason alone if you need a large order of bulbs like I did. 1000Bulbs seems to give you good prices on many bulbs, but then you lose that in their shipping charges. I was looking for a specific color temp BR40 LED bulb for my church sanctuary house lights, which isn't something you can get at your local store. We have a theater style dimmer system and though it is known that some LED bulbs mights have trouble with certain household and theater dimmers, I have tried two brands of LED bulbs in this system and they work fine. This website had several options for the color temp and lumens I was looking for so I ordered the 30 I needed. That was a lot of money in shipping (see my first comment). Unfortunately these bulbs flicker badly when fading in (fine when they are full power or fading out). Upon contacting 1000Bulbs I was told that I didn't check the manufacturers compatibility list for dimmers. Well that list seems to only include household dimmers, not theater style dimmer systems, so it wouldn't have helped me anyways. Not to mention I've tested two other brands of LED's that are supposedly lower quality than the bulbs I bought from them, and they work fine. Though I'm not saying this product is outright defective, I think they should have been willing to work with me to both find a bulb that wouldn't have these issues, and help out with shipping charges- either by paying for the return shipping if I made another purchase of different bulbs, or by giving me a break on shipping for a new order if I paid to ship back the other bulbs myself. Or even being willing to send me some test bulbs of another brand without charging me shipping on the small order. Unfortunately all they did is give me a list of a few other bulb options to try and expect me to eat all past and future shipping costs. Now I have to try to find a way to return these bulbs without paying half their value in shipping since I don't have a corporate Fedex account. And I still don't have the bulbs I need. I wish I would have read some of the recent yelp reviews first and avoided this website. read more

I found that the incandescent bulbs last longer than the LCDs contrary to what they want us to believe. I bought my house in 2002 and it had incandescent bulbs and most of them are still working. The ones I replaced with LCDs burned out within 6 months and they have this covering over the bottom half which makes my outdoor lights with a dimmer work the opposite of how they should work. New is NOT always better. read more

I moved into this home 6 years ago and my light bulb finally blew out in our closet. After search all the store I was told to try ordering online through this store. The price took me by surprise but I figured it would be worth it because it would last (you get what you pay for right?). I ordered 2 boxes of 25 LED C9 replacement bulbs that were about $1.12 each and out of 50 of them 3 did not work. I sent and email almost a year later complaining that they were DOA. The initial offer was to sell me another box and deduct $3.36. I told them I was not spending $28 plus shipping and tax to recover $3.36 and I went away disappointed. Placed my first (last) order with this company about a month ago. It was never fulfilled. About a week or so after placing the order, I was told that they had just moved and that it didn't go so well but to expect my order to ship out the next week. I didn't need the items immediately so was happy to wait (since their prices were decent). Long story short is about a month on, all communications with this one rep there ceased forcing me to call and leave a message. My call was returned some 3 days later with the suggestion "I'm afraid we should just cancel it..I think the items are in the warehouse but we just can't locate them." Very Bad Return Policy! I am a contractor and I purchased a number of things from this company for a large lighting project. We purchased several hundred dollars of specific replacement lighting ballasts as per my electrician but the order was not quite what he wanted and we needed to exchange the shipment for the correct AND more expensive ones. They made us pay a 20% restocking fee in addition to the return shipping and of course the original shipping - what a loss - and what a surprise from an online business! I decided not to order the replacements from them and never do business with them again. They delivered the bulbs (which were thinly packed, though they did arrive apparently intact) but they never sent the gift card. It has been six weeks since the order. They promised delivery in three. I inquired by phone repeatedly but was unable to get a live person. Repeated emails to their "customer care advocate" have met with no resolution and now she says she cannot even tell me when I might expect the giftcard. I was called on the 4th only to be told the would have to split my order that some would leave Friday the 6th when they arrived and that one part of the order was delayed until the 31st. I ordered a bunch of Curtis Matthews retrofit can trims for a job we did. They were so tall they would not fit in a standard Juno 4" can light. This is one of the most standardly used recessed can lights in the industry. I called 1000 bulbs to ask why these trims won't fit in a standard 4" can, the guys sounded confused and said he would get right back to me. Never heard anything back. Read their online form for returns, filled it all out complete with the correct info. 4 weeks later, nothing back, no email no call. I make a call about it, get directed around and around. Let someone know whats up. No calls or emails back. Called again, got bounced around. Got a lady who could of cared less. Told me I would have to wait for someone who was doing a ton of work on that return to give me a call back. I'm sorry this is a simple return. Charge me for freight or whatever, I don't care. I just want to check this off my list. After all the hassle I just told her to forget it, I'm over wasting my time for a $153 return. I made a fatal mistake and did not check the contents of my boxes that I picked up at their Will Call. An estimated 40 days later I was ready to use the product and realized the shortage. I called customer service and spoke to the person that helped execute the order. She was kind and professional about the matter. I am a very small operator and could not afford to take a hit in the amount of the product. I also understood the difficulty of the company taking the hit. They advised that their investigation found that their inventory count was spot on and did not find any overages. Long story short after sending it up the chain of command and back, they concluded to provide a one time courtesy and replaced the product. Since then I have ordered a couple of times. My orders were spot on. I am getting ready to place another order now. I have found that for Christmas Lighting products you simply cannot beat them in quality or price. They never informed me the LED was not for my fixture and wold eventually fail. - No credit, "I told you amigo" (No, you didn't otherwise I wouldn't have bought it). I order 7 packs of blinking lights for Christmas in Oct (my first mistake). I started to put up my tree and unpacked the lights and realized that some don't work, some don't blink and others on;y work if you hold the string in a certain position. I called and they told me I should have checked the lights upon receipt. Lesson learned. The weren't expensive but my expectation is that they would honor their products, if defective. After learning of 1000bulbs.com, I placed several order for different kinds of bulbs (mostly incandescent, and halogen). In several categories of bulbs, 1000bulbs.com offers "long life" bulbs, which are supposed to offer anywhere from half again more hours of lighting, to more than twice as many hours of lighting. Because some of the bulbs I purchased were being installing in very difficult locations, I opted for the longer life bulbs. Not only were the bulbs NOT longer life, but in some cases they burned out within only 1-3 months! Not nearly as long as a standard bulb would have lasted! Their primary brand of bulb seems to be the Satco brand, which seems to not last nearly as long as any of the regular brand of bulb, whether it is a Satco "long life" bulb, or whether it is just their standard bulb. I will definitely NOT be ordering any more bulbs from 1000bulbs.com. read more

Notified 1000 Bulbs of order received: lightbulb count was correct but was missing 2 sockets and instead of receiving 3 individual cord sets, received 3 packages of cord sets/10 per package. Called 100bulbs to notify of missing items as well as the overage (which amounted to almost a $50.00 hit on their end). Honesty is not the best policy with these folks as return policy for mistakes the company makes is both restrictive and threatening (though was informed I was interpreting it incorrectly). Bottom line: (quoted from return instruction sheet), "product unfortunately shipped in error but not returned to 100bulbs.com is subject to being charged if product is not returned within 2 weeks using the Call Tag". To me, placing a specific and restrictive time frame for returns while suggesting that they also have the right to charge for items not returned within that window (all due to their error, mind you) is a threat, particularly since there is no way they would have ever known (until they inventoried their stock) that they were missing 27 cord sets. Will NEVER buy from these folks again. Customer service is clearly NOT their first priority. read more

I ordered decorative LED lamps. the bulk of them arrived ok due to being packed very well but 4 were shipped loose inside the box resulting in one arriving broken. Tried contacting the listed P.O.C. several times but she never answered. Had to call the main number to get the ball rolling. It will take a minimum of a week to replace the lamp and I have paperwork to do in addition before they will ship. I'm going to miss a client deadline with this kind of service... I originally purchased $2000.00 in LED Christmas lights from the company. The order was for two separate style of bulbs (mini lights and the standard C7). When I received the order of C7 bulbs, there were at least 3 different manufactures for the bulbs in different shapes and shades of light. After somewhat of a hassel, they took the lights back. Well recently I began unpacking the mini lights and testing the to make sure they work and I found 3 strings that do not work. Purchased a few stringers (5) from this company and upon arrival, one of them was defective. I went ahead and sent all five of them back because I began to question the quality of their product especially since they were going to be hung on a rooftop. I wanted to eliminate the slightest chance that these lights would malfunction on me. Once the return was processed, they refunded me $54 compared to the original amount of $75 because Sara DeShazo (Fulfillment Manager) said that in order to get a full refund, all of them needed to be defective. They shipped only $10.30 worth of hardware and the rest ( 18.36) I was told it was on backorder after receiving only the first 2 items. Everytime I call I am told the due date is only a few days away... It is still on backorder after 6 weeks, Be aware when you place an order that you may be charged $10.91 shipping for a few dollars worth of order. ( this is the lowest shipping cost added to your order) and the more substantial part of your order will never ship to you. read more
