This used to be a great store. We had worked with Jim on our 2018/2019 renovation and he was excellent. Then the store got remodeled into a "showroom". Less products, almost all catalog items, and we've placed two orders over the last almost 3 months only to be told our item is no longer available, or most recently that our purchase order was not sent to the vendor timely, so the fixture they had guaranteed was in stock was no longer in stock by the time the employee who was "off that day" submitted our order, now we are being told rather than our fixture is ready for pickup, that we're looking at late June. Find another lighting company. Unless you like chasing around sales people and having to drive back and forth to get anything other than a telephone prompt voice mail recording. read more

Visited here a few days ago. Nothing like the selection they had when I bought two ceiling fans here in 2014, but it looks like they are remodeling. No significant selection of pendant lights or ceiling fans when I visited early March 2020. My friend and I were on our own--no one asked us if we wanted any help. read more

The lighting selection is average. However, Management and the experience is well below average. We recently purchased a significant amount of lighting.. just not from here. The manager schedule was "fully committed" and her abruptly hung up WITHOUT trying to fit us in by offering available times at a later date. When you want to find the latest rod lighting, chandelier, pendant, floor lamp, sconce, etc. this is the place. In order to purchase any of the said above, you must locate a salesperson. In order to gain assistance from one of the sales persons, you must wait in a long unorganized system that has unwritten rules that change. Seriously, all I wanted to do is replace the transformer of a track-lighting system that was barely used that I purchased from this store just a while back which I thought would only take 15-20 minutes. I spent more than that and had to deal with the salesperson that evidently was having a rough day. Why would this store sell me 4 identical track-lighting systems that were pricey only for them to tell me when I needed to replace the transformer that was barely used that the 4 identical track-lighting systems are now discontinued. I think the store sells great looking items that are overpriced and cheaply made sold to you by salespeople that appear to fell like they have the entitlement to treat you poorly. read more

This place has an amazing selection of different style light fixtures. It has the best selection of sconces I have seen in the DFW area as well as some great looking chandeliers. Despite some of the other reviews, We found everyone very courteous and willing to help. Jim was our consultant and I never met anyone as knowledgeable on all their products. I have been given the run around with this group. We have ordered lights for years from Jim Rutledge and before him Auturo. With no issues. Then I need two LED lights replaced which should not have gone out so soon and then the run around began. As long as you are buying its all ok. I have given them every opportunity to make this right. After shopping here for 30 years through 3 remodels of my own and 2 remodels of my friends houses. Not to mention countless clients. I will not come back after my visit today. The service was pretty rude a couple times in the past but today was the worst. First I had to search for someone to help me after the first gentleman let me stand waiting. ( he was helping somebody else but he never even acknowledged me or said he would be right with me or get me another person ) I waited 8 solid minutes and went looking for a warm body. They have beautiful lighting like jewelry to a room. The prices are at a bit higher point, but they are unique and quality. There are pieces at most budgets. I have been able to pick up a couple pieces during their remodel sale that I'm wild about. I agree that the sales staff seems very busy and do not automatically greet you if they are working with someone else (understandable), but I took the chance to look around and then received great attentive service through Jim Rutledge. He was very knowledgeable about their stock and readily pointed me to potential companion pieces. I am so excited to have special lighting that isn't what everyone gets at the box stores. read more

I have had enormous problems getting them to live up to the lifetime warranty on a Casablanca fan I bought at this store. The owner is a master at passing the buck and shirking responsibility. His view is that the lifetime warranty extends 6 months (his words were "3-5 months" but I am rounding up). I will never buy another fan there. Still great service from a long established business in Dallas. My mother went in to get a part for a Chandelier I ordered online. It was missing a part. Although they don't fix lamps anymore my mom was able to get awesome help from the young man at the counter. He totally helped her get what she needed to put together this Chandelier. SHINY. You can not imagine how shiny it is inside this store. I needed a special light bulb--of course they had it. But the minute me and my daughter walked in Lights Fantastic our jaws dropped and we--meaning me--reverted back to childhood and walked through the store gazing up at all the chandeliers and colored lights. Yes, this is worth a field trip. We did the "this is my favorite, no wait this one is my favorite, nope...wait, this one for sure is my favorite," for about a half hour. When I asked why all the lights were not on the manager told me it would cost a fortune to light them all and the heat would be too intense. After driving by this place about a million times I finally stopped in in search of chandelier parts. They didn't have any. It seemed like a high pressure sales system going on here as there were about 8 sales people working in the middle of a weekday. They were nice enough to recommend a few places that they thought I could find my parts but I ended up ordering them online anyway. I would recommend checking out Lamps Plus on Knox instead unless you feel the need to spend too much on a light. read more

Found 2 floor lamps on their website at $200 each. I tried to order on their website several times, which wasn't working. I called the Greenville Avenue store & asked if I could order over the phone. He looked up the lamps, and said they were $250 each. I asked why the price was $50 higher, and was told it was because I was ordering through a salesperson. He then recommended I call the Austin store, who manages the website, and get their help with an online order. Long story short--I found the exact same lamps on Amazon for $170 each, with free shipping. That was my first and last experience with Lights Fantastic. read more

I have been frustrated for a full year, trying to decide how to replace a houseful of old ceiling fans (all with light kits which served as the primary source of light in all bedrooms in my house). I needed an education on LED lighting and more. By chance, I walked into Lights Fantastic on Greenville and was helped by Kaye Gilbert. Kaye has been in the ceiling fan business for decades and she professionally answered all my questions, steering me in the proper direction!! Ceiling fans are highly complex these days. Do you like lights? Do you like things that are fantastic? You're in luck, you've found your heaven! This place has everything you'll need. I never thought I'd say this in regards to lights, but it really is the last place you'll need to look. I called a couple other places and they said they had what I needed, but they didn't sound very certain about it. I needed something very specific - a narrow spot light that was a point source - and they said, "yeah, we have it." Then when I repeated what I needed, she said, "Yeah, we should have something that works." So I called Lights Fantastic and talked to Joe and he said, "I have at least one bulb that fits that description, we definitely have something that will work." So, since I didn't have a lot of time to dilly dally, I went straight to the store. First off, you'll walk into the showroom and it's for all the fixtures. Light fixtures everywhere. I needed the bulb section, so they sent me down the ramp there and in there are just shelves and displays of bulbs. Every bulb you can imagine. For good prices too. We bought some specialty bulbs at Home Depot for $12.99 only to find them here for $8.99. I was amazed. On to the bulb, I needed a point source bulb and I thought I needed a narrow spot, but it turned out that the bulb I chose was a flood. I did need to block out some of the reflector, but the center section was a point source and it fit my application perfectly. We probably looked at about 6 different bulbs before we came across this one and Joe was patient and extremely helpful. I can't say enough good things about this place. It was exactly the help I needed and I got the bulb I needed. You need lights? Fantastic. You've found your place. read more

This lighting store has beautiful selections and carries Hubbardton Forge and many other upscale lights. They even searched for a light I saw in a magazine that didn't give manufacturers name. I was very impressed with my salesperson and the manager. I am building a new house and have many other lighting store options, but because of the lighting options and customer service, I plan to use this store. read more

Apparently I'm not with the norm based on their rating. I came to get specialty LED bulbs, and I got them. The service was great. Unfortunately, 2 of the 3 bulbs didn't work. Any inconvenience of having to go back and return them was thrown out when the lady who took care of me came in the picture. I can't remember her name, but she was awesome.... When I take out two loans against my mortgage, car and life savings I will be back to purchase a light from them. read more

What a bunch of goof balls. After giving them $11k for two lights, it was one excuse... issue after another. Their website for the light had one inventory number that was not the same one used within their system thus wrong light shows up after 6 weeks. Ok they did send over another after 2 additional weeks. But wait, didn't come with bulbs I paid for 8 weeks ago. The bulbs needed for the light that came with the 1st wrong light are now not there and yes... have to wait another week to see the $4k light working. As for delivery, we'll be there by noon... electrician standing by at 1 pm to install... no light. Call and told... ugh, running late. Well not really since the light was still in the warehouse. Convenient location but they have more business than they can handle it would appear. You might as well just find the light on line given stock in store is limited and you end up picking out the light from a book. Get it wrong.. 25% restocking fee... they get it wrong it's... oh well... read more

I stopped in hoping to find sconces for a staircase and powder bath we are renovating. Found what I was looking for but couldn't find anyone to help me. There were three sales ladies there, maybe two other customers and I couldn't even get anyone to make eye contact. It's a shame - they have a nice selection. Avoid at all costs! I bought a chandelier 6 months ago, paid cash. When I got it home one frosted glass piece was scratched. They said they would order a replacement. The replacement was for the wrong size. Another replacement ordered, this one was the wrong color! Then the 3rd replacement came- but the gaps between the pieces are wrong. No prob they said, we will order you a whole new one. New one finally comes to store, after waiting 2 weeks for "install" they guy who comes decides not to replace the whole thing and instead to try and change 2 pieces. Didn't work! Now we are told another 2 weeks until they come again to install entirely new one! Unacceptable, we have been more than patient. 3 replacements that didn't work and now the second attempt to change out entirely to a new one! Are you kidding me!!! read more

We're buying and remodeling a mid-century ranch home and will be replacing all the fixtures including the chandelier in the dining room. Our family of four walked in to view their selections and as beautiful as their showroom was, I could not believe how inattentive their staff was. We walked around for about thirty minutes viewing the entire store upstairs and down and were ignored by every single employee in the building. NOT ONE person said as much as "hello" and there must have been ten employees that we passed. Reading the other reviews, I see that this is typical for their location and completely unacceptable to me. I've had to buy a few things here because they are the only retailer I could find that carries some odd bulbs. HOWEVER, they are not friendly. When I inquired about a special order, they were downright rude. I wanted to use their Groupon and when he found out about that, he HUNG UP on me! Customer service is horrific! I have been here multiple times & not acknowledged at all by one of the five staff members behind their desks. Those staff members also watched me struggle to open the door & get the stroller in with no attempt to offer assistance which I would think is common courtesy (they all sat & watched!). I ordered some lights through them & on the invoice it said they were due to arrive on the 8th. So on the 13th I call just to check up & see where they are (no big deal they are late but just wanted to make sure they were ordered & on the way)... Well.. Love my new St James lanterns purchased at Lights Fantastic on Greenville in Dallas. I especially like that they were manufactured in Mississippi. Arturo was my sales rep and he did a great job helping me make sure the lantern specs matched my space, placing and following up on the order and insuring a smooth pick-up process once the lanterns arrived at the store. While this showroom has great selection, their customer service is terrible. Specifically, Kay assisted me with an order and failed to call me back or email me promised information, multiple times. She forgot who I was and said she had never helped me, then later admitted she had when she eventually located my order. Our interaction required significant proactive follow up on my part. Later, she confirmed my return would be credited to me and a receipt emailed that day. The receipt was never emailed. A month later when my credit card statement arrived, I realized the credit had never been processed. Getting this finally corrected required multiple calls initiated by me and I received only excuses from Kay, never an apology for my time and effort and her error. Very frustrating experience and I will never order something from this salesperson again. read more
