I have faced multiple complex lighting issues in my home for way too long. I took a chance stopping by here one last time. A trip here for other needs yielded no good results a few years ago. But today I was in Luck. With the help of Debra, I solved all of my problems with one swipe of the card. I went into the store to buy a part for recessed lighting and no one was at the front desk, I waited patiently and a young girl finally came in with frown on her face, I explained to her what I needed and she looked bewildered so i said is there anybody here that knows what I am talking about, a man next to her apparently her susperviser , spoke up and said I think he is talking about recessed lighting. She then said if your did not purchase the items from here we can't help you. She could have been new to the job I don't know but this attitude will lose business for you. read more

My mom bought a hard to find lamp and they do not keep this type in stock. We had to wait for a week for delivery. Then it was delivered missing a part so were unable to assemble it. When I returned to the store, they notified they could ship the piece to me and it'll take another week or so to get it. They wouldnt give me the missing piece from what they have in the store. Very frustrating. It would've been cheaper and easier to just use Amazon. Next time we'll just go straight to Amazon. Edited: What you misinterpreted from my prior post is that I would have gotten the same product, same price, much quicker timeline, and better customer service had I just bought it on Amazon. You had an opportunity to make a difference for a customer and instead you chose the standard lazy response. It makes going to your store pointless. Definitely not the best business model. Instead you lost a customer and you aren't bothered by that at all. read more

Had a great experience here! Came here because I wanted something a little more substantial than the builder grade ceiling fans at Home Depot and Lowe's. This place had it! And they had it at a price that did not break the bank. BUT the last one we bought was an open box, it arrived fine but clearly had not inspected -- product was dented and unusable and I am still waiting for an RMA after hours on hold, many emails sent and even one response saying Jennifer would handle it and still NOTHING.....NO WAY I can speak favorably of their customer service which has proved non-existent. I hope I can change this review if I ever get a reply from them and resolution for them sending me a damaged light. There is no value in using them if this is how they treat customers. I went to buy lampshades from this store. There were not many with the price tag on them but I grabbed two to take to the counter. The lady behind the counter was on the phone telling stories and laughing which was fine when I realized she was also taking an order. She never acknowledged me so I tried to locate the items on a kiosk without success. I turned and waited 3-5 minutes while she took her order- again never acknowledging me. Then she started talking about her vacation to this client. Not once lifting an acknowledging finger, head mod or "hold on" & I'll be with you in a moment. This was our first visit to buy a lamp. If they don't have the make/model/brand you want you don't need it. We were familiar with the store in the past to get a unique light bulb for a nightstand lamp. So when it was time to get new floor lamp we stopped by during a sale. Good for us. On a very busy Sat with lots of customers the staff took care of use, paid and help get the box out to the car. Excellent customer service. As best I could tell the staff was focused on customer service and helping as many as possible. If you don't want to be crowded I would guess a week day when no sale is in progress to linger and wander around. Find what you want and then come back during the sale. read more

Our experience was good. We were visiting the area from out of town, saw the store from the road and turned around to drop in. The lighting selection here was amazing, from wall fixtures, to lamp posts, to chandeliers, desk lamps, what nots, even a throw pillow section and a few fancy arm chairs. There are all kinds of bulbs and light inserts, LED's, halogens, you name it. There is so much in this store. We were looking for undercabinet lighting led kits, we had done much research. We were greeted by a nice saleslady after a few minutes of us walking around gawking at the inventory. She was helpful and patient, but admitted she was not sure about installation in our particular situation. We wanted the lighting since the price was competitive so she suggested that we order online in the store so we wouldn't have to travel with it. They do have an online store, so if we need anything else, we can go online if there are no nearby brick and mortars where we live. I definitely recommend taking a look because of their incredible selection of lighting and apparently all kinds of things for your house. read more

Good place to find lamps at a reasonable price. It is actually hard to find a lamp now that a lot of stores are closed because of Covid. I went to a lamp place about a mile down that was individually owned, I understand that you have to recoup the money you lost during the pandemic but this place was crazy! I saw a modern but plain lamp their that they wanted $495 for, a similar lamp at Lamps Plus was $49. That's right and it wasn't even pretty or different. They did have a little clearance room that all customers that came in as I was there, went in to first, but there were only a few items in it. For your money, Lamps Plus is the way to go, especially if you want something unique and pretty. read more

This is my 2nd review of this Lamps Plus location. My 1st review was on 12/28/2016, which during that visit, customer service was an issue. I should have just stayed away, but I thought this visit on May 26, 2020 would be different, especially considering the turmoil our country is in. I was wrong!!! Walked in to purchase a chandelier for our breakfast area. There were no other customers in the store as I browsed the two chandeliers I had seen online. I was the only customer in the store for approximately 10-15 minutes at which point a few more customers started showing up, who were quickly greeted and asked if they needed help. I guess I was invisible that day or perhaps I did not meet the weight requirement when I entered the store through the propped opened doors! Finally, I decided to go to the front of the store and a gentlemen I'm sure could sense my frustration as I explained to him that I had been in the store well before any of the other customers who were being treated like royalty. Turns out this gentlemen was the manager, "Hector Jaramillo" who I had seen earlier as I browsed the lighting area at the front of the store. When "Hector Jaramillo" saw me earlier during this visit, he never said a word. "Hector Jaramillo" was very apologetic, but that did not change the fact that no one attempted to assist me during this visit including him. Pretty sad!!! Do yourself a favor and order online or find another lighting store. Not crazy about leaving this type of review, but this was my 2nd and last bad encounter at this Lamps Plus location on Preston Road. read more

I'm generously giving 2 stars because they really do have a great selection. Now, for the "I am irritated part" of the review. Who the heck sells someone an outdoor light that you clearly state needs to PLUG into the exterior outlet wall... yet there's no plug. They sold us a hard wire wall wash light with no plug. Maybe I am Behind the times and this is a normal thing but not at my house! So the moral of the story is to make sure ya look at the plug before ya leave the store. Sigh. read more

I purchased outdoors fans 15 months ago from Lamps + and they had an issue, I was able to return them and I was not able to locate new fans I liked at this store so I did need to purchase fans from another store but what they did was give me a $600 gift card to use in store or online and they have a bunch of products online other than lights and fans. Great way to resolve my issue when they could have easily told me to take a hike and the purchase was too long ago. Thanks Lamps + I'll be back ! Highly recommend! read more

Stopped by this store to shop some lighting for our new home. I will admit I was dressed down as I had been at my ranch working. However I stood in this store for 30 minutes looking around but no one even bothered to say hello. I found a chandelier and some lamps that I would have purchased given the opportunity. Staff seemed like that were in there just laughing and hanging out behind counter. One lady was helping a customer that seemed to be just wasting her time. Long story short I took pictures of the lamps and tags of the products I was interested in a purchased them on Amazon at about a 20% savings. Not sure how long this store can survive like that. The hubby and I came in on busy Sunday. We were immediately greeted by an employee. He was very friendly and helpful. We went in to buy a Tiffany lamp for my bedroom. I had priced them on line and the prices were comparable to what I had seen. I didn't want to risk having a Tiffany lamp shipped and it breaking so I thought it would be better to buy it there since it was the same price. While walking around I found 10 other things I wanted.. hee hee. They have over the mirror bathroom lighting and many chandeliers, ceiling fans as well as lamps. read more

It's clear staff is on commission. They make it blatantly obvious. My mother and I were looking for chandlers, lamps, and a few decor pieces for both of our homes. Long story short. Nobody greeted us, made three different attempts here. I feel they are discriminating and possibly racist. They will judge you the moment you walk in. He also hooked me up with a contemporary 3-blade fan and made sure that the correct length downrod was ordered. He was friendly, professional and very knowledgeable. After just moving to the area, we needed some light fixtures to spice up our place. I've had a great experience with Lamps Plus in the Bay Area, so I figured we'd check out their branch in Dallas. Before coming, we peeped their website and called to make sure they had the fixtures we wanted in stock. When we actually entered the store, we browsed the amazing selection of lamps and fun little knickknacks. We browsed, messed around, and chose a few lamps. Every few minutes, an employee passing by would ask us if we needed help--they're so friendly here. Yav is the man! When it came time to check out, he helped us in no time at all and was friendly the whole time. Protip: don't forget to check in for some free lightbulbs. The in-store prices were actually cheaper than the prices on the website (score!), which were already on sale. Since we had a large load, they helped wheel out everything to our car. I'd definitely recommend Lamps Plus to anyone looking for some stylish light fixtures, especially lamps. In general, the prices won't be as cheap as what you'd find at some big box stores (but shop around--you might be surprised), but these products will last much longer, look prettier, are more durable, and will yield more compliments when people come over to visit! I really wanted to like this store because of the selection they have online, but so many items they have are not available in stock or on display. While shipping to my house is free, I really want to see what I'm buying before I buy it, and that is not possible here. I would also second others who said that service in store is not all that great. They seem to be grossly understaffed, and what people they do have to help customers, seem so overwhelmed they just lean back and give up. I get it! I had an occasion to visit the Plano store and ran across the best customer service EVER whose name is Kay. I had ordered a huge wall mirror for my new home, and with each delivery the mirror was broken. After the 3rd time I was done. I stated my disappointment to Kay and she talked me into buying it one more time, but this time to have it delivered to the store. She said she would personally inspect and make sure it was PERFECT before she called me to pick it up. I did what she said. When it arrived she inspected it with her managers, then called me to pick it up. It is beautiful and she handled it like it was a newborn baby! Lolol! She was my only reason for trying the purchase again! What great service. And she is sooo nice! read more

Really frustrated with Lamps Plus. Purchased a chandelier and matching pendant light, was told the items would arrive in 5 business days. Only one item arrived and the other now on back order. No communication at all from the sales associate, I had to call to get any information. Associate says she will check with another store and call me back....or course no return call, so I called again. No update on another store having the item, so I ask about the floor model. Associate tells me I have to wait two days to pick up the floor model, doesn't really make sense? Then tells me my order will arrive on Tuesday, but I have no confidence at all in what she says. Not sure how my order went from being on backorder to two day delivery in a matter of minutes. Went ahead and cancelled my order and they lost over $400 of business. Update 11/28/15 - I'm updating my earlier review. The district manager, Gary Contreras, contacted me regarding my review and was genuinely apologetic regarding my experience at the store. Gary explained they were transitioning to a new PO system and that attributed to the confusion with my order. He also offered to personally handle my order, if I was still interested. I really loved the lamps and accepted his offer, along with a discount for my troubles. I honestly did not expect them to read my review, much less take the time to contact me and offer assistance.
