Pretty sad they act like you matter but I guess that only until they get paid for not doing the job right. This is the second no show no call about the same sprinkler problems. The controller they recommended and installed last year doesn't stay connected, they just charged me over $1,400 to replace some valves, tried to up charge while they were here but the guy was cool enough to work with me so I thought problem is they still don't work. I used this company for holiday lighting and it was the worst mistake ever. We are in the process of filing a lawsuit to get our money back. The lights kept tripping the fuse and they would come out and give some weird reason why the would go out. It's a very large property and for some reason they plugged almost all the lights into one receptacle. Finally after 7 visits (I have this documented) they split the lights up into two groups. It worked for a day and then tripped the second breaker which also had two freezers stocked with meat. We lost all that meat and had them come get their lights before they burned the house down. They continued saying that sometimes weather plays a factor. Not true. I cannot tell you how horrible this experience was. read more

Contracted with JBell Services to install an irrigation system at our primary residence. Overall the system is working fine but there were mistakes made by the installation crew not installing the correct sprinkler heads in the raised flower beds. This is not a product or labor issue, just poor quality on the installation and then for JBell Services to deny the warranty claim because the warranty had expired 6 days ago makes no sense. This is even after agreeing to pay the labor fee to swap out the 3 sprinkler heads that were in need of being swapped out. Be diligent when you look to work with this company, can't believe they didn't take care of this issue. I'm sure I'm not the only client that they have treated this way. Have spent over $6,500 with this company with this installation project and other repairs, didn't expect to be treated like this Buyer beware! read more

I called J Bell Services out to find and fix sprinkler issues resulting from the recent freeze. They did a brief assessment of the system and reported several heads needed to be replaced. The estimate was between $150 and $200,; but the actual costs would be based on actual labor time and parts. The final bill came to $329.90; $190 for 2 hours labor; plus an additional $130 in parts. My issue is that the parts they charged me $130 for have a total retail cost of $14.61 at Lowes. This means they marked the costs of the parts up almost 900%. When I later challenged this, (as the normal contractor markup on parts is between 50% tp 100%). I was told that this was absolutely nonnegotiable. Having owned my home for over 20 years, I know what to expect for normal parts markups and this is completely unacceptable. I feel this is a total ripoff and will not use this company again or recommend them top anyone. read more

Great customer service setting up the appointment and even forwarding it to an earlier time. The guys arrived right on time, got straight to work, did an excellent and thorough job. Solved the problem we asked to be addressed and also did a full diagnostic on our sprinkler system and fixed a few other things too. They were in and out in maybe an hour or so, and the price for what we got was more than reasonable. My dad oversaw the operation and he's a cranky 80 year old man who, not long ago would have done all this himself. So he's a tough critic with this sort of thing and even he was thoroughly impressed. 5/5 would recommend and use again. read more

scheduled a service call to restart sprinkler system and repair heads after they winterized the system in December. Failed to show at appointed time after I had taken off work to meet them. They rescheduled for a Sat am time. Gates were left open for full access to the system. I told them I would be at work, but they had access to the system and my credit card on file to charge for services. When they arrived, they tried to call but I was working. Rather than do what thy said they would do, they left so they " Wouldnt be late for their next appointment" . Cancelled my service. Will not use them again. Too many good and dependable sprinkler companies to put up with no shows. If they had honored their first appointment when i changed my schedule to meet them, this would not be an issue. Started out great. Quick response to repairing a leak in sprinkler valve. Came back out again quickly to fix the replaced valve that didn't work. But then with each subsequent visit another zone downstream of the repairs doesn't work for some reason. I'm really frustrated with this process. That each section needs to be checked. I told technician everything was working ok on what they worked on each visit. What I didn't realize is that we have to check all the zones each time they come to work on the sprinklers to see if they still work. I feel like we keep moving down the line from where the previous work was done. Work on zone 5 and then 6 doesn't work. Combine 5 and six and completely remove zone 7 and now 8 doesn't work. This is just a scam to keep coming back and do more work. Stay away or be willing to keep paying!!! read more

I'm thrilled to be the first to review the WORST COMPANY EVER. I contacted them for a time to check out a leaky valve box. They said they would call back, which never happened. But, I did get a text confirming an appointment at 9AM. Okay, I never knew that's where we were, but I went with it. Two guys showed up the next morning, one older and one younger. The older guy had a lot of experience and seemed to know his stuff, but also seemed to be in poor health. I later learned it was the younger guy's first day---this made a lot of sense after I saw how clueless he was. Keep in mind they charge by the hour, so having one guy "in training" makes everything take longer. He didn't know the difference between one-inch pvc and half-inch and had to make repeated (long) trips back to the truck. Me and the older guy wait patiently each time. All said and done, they reviewed the leaky box, replaced a valve, redid some pvc piping, and clapped their hands as if the job was done. Before they leave the following laundry list of things happened: -They tried to charge me $60 dollars for a simple valve. SIXTY. They cost $13 at Home Depot. I eventually bargained the guy down to $30, which is still too much, but I made peace with it. -They charged me $45 for some pvc pipe and elbow joints. And acted like they did me a favor on that front. I smiled in disbelief, but I again I went with it. -It ended up being over $300. I thought it seemed like a lot, but if it fixes the problem then I'm okay with it. -HERE'S THE KICKER: before they even left, I noticed that there was STILL A LEAK in the pipe area. They couldn't even diagnose the leak properly. The younger guy came back to take a picture and I even told him, HEY it's still leaking. He seemed as clueless as the moment they arrived and said, "if it keeps leaking call the office." The afternoon rolls around and guess what---still leaking. Called the office and had them stop by. The older guy then says, "Oh, that's the main line, what we fixed works great. That's not on us." He repeated that phrase a lot---NOT ON US. Hmm. Then he said that it would probably be AT LEAST 3 hours of work to fix that. I commented that everything I had paid up to that point was basically wasted and asked for a flat fee. He said he couldn't do that. Talked to their "office" about it and they said "we don't do that" and that it would probably come up to around $400. So I'm supposed to be $700 in for fixing this leaky valve box. Everybody acted like the fact that I paid them $300 for nothing was just on me, too bad so sad. After a semi-heated conversation and the older saying "this is bull shit" they went on their way and left me staring at leaky PVC pipe. Do yourself a favor and GO WITH SOMEONE ELSE! read more

This company broke my sprinkler system and would not fix it and didn't finish the work because my system was broken. I replaced the fuse and noticed a sprinkler zone that was working before was no longer working. The company says they will fix it if I buy a new system. This is FRAUD. There was nothing wrong with my system before they came and they messed up a zone that had no issues and they won't fix it. They took my money and broke my system. THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM AND WILL BRAKE YOUR SYSTEM TO SELL YOU A NEW ONE. They do not honor their work. Stay away and choose a different company with competent technicians that won't break your system and not fix it. It shouldn't matter if a rain bird system is old or new. Had J Bell come out to the house, knew we needed one valve located and replaced. The two-man crew found the valve box within 10 minutes and then spent the next 50 minutes walking around the yard, after the first hour at $120.00 they presented a quote for $550.00 to replace one valve and a laundry list of other items. All I called them out for was to locate the valve and replace it, set the controller, and call it good. I agreed to have the repair completed (because I was in a bad spot and needed it) I'm still in shock at the cost of this company. Seemed to me the classic milk job. I'd use caution in considering this repair company, competition is much too fierce. I'm mad at myself, for agreeing to this. It is a hard pass for me in the future, feel as if we were taken advantage of. read more

They "serviced" my parents' sprinkler system and recommended a panel upgrade even though the current panel worked. The sprinkler system still did not work and my parents called to have someone called them back. THEY TRIED TO CHARGE ANOTHER SERVICE FEE even though they did not fix the original issue. They scheduled another appointment and did not show up and have refused to call my parents back. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. I have been meaning to leave a review for a while now, but wanted to wait until our grass and landscaping had a chance to grow in a bit. Back in June we hired J Bell for the first time. They resodded some of our lawn and then also removed some large areas of sod and planted various plants like Muhly Grass, Russian Sage and Ruellia. The project turned into a much bigger job than we or J Bell initially thought, especially the sod removal for the landscaping areas. The J Bell team did a great job. Removing the sod turned into a multi-day project instead of a single day project like we originally thought. They stuck with it until the work was done and done right. Although it ended up costing more than we thought, Miriam was such a professional in working with us. We both agreed, that through no fault of ours or theirs, we couldn't have anticipated the extra work. So they worked with us and shared in the additional costs. Her approach was fair and respectful, which allowed both parties to be happy with the results and solution. Miriam was available to discuss changes to the plan, which were a bunch. She help us with our vision to ensure we would get the best results in our lawn and landscaping. The J Bell team who came out and did the work were professional and hard workers. The kept us informed and involved with what they were doing. They showed up and left on schedule, which these days is huge. Their front office was very professional as well. We got emails/texts regarding set appts. and when teams were on their way. Miriam is doing a great job at J Bell. Once here, Isiah promptly identified our problem, gave us a quote and set to work. The repair required digging up a portion of our boulevard but when he was done, the mess was cleaned up and the sidewalk washed down. Do Not Hire This Company. While they ultimately completed the work, there are many better options in the DFW area that are honest and reputable. J. Bell quoted out an entire yard refresh (zero-scape, drainage, artificial tuff, etc) for me. Their prices seemed reasonable (coming in around $12K). Wanting to see their quality of work, I elected to start with putting in a French drain ($2K) before I continued with the project. They were quick to come out and get it scheduled but that is where my positive experience ended. The crew showed up and it was immediately clear that they were extremely inexperienced in drainage. The older man seemed to have some knowledge but wasn't around the jobsite to monitor the crew. They brought in a big trencher to which I asked, how they were sure that they wouldn't run into anything (gas, water, electric, etc). His response was that they would "go slow". Having run a few trenchers in the day, it only takes one nick of the blade to destroy a pipe or wire. They did go slow so I went inside my home. Shortly thereafter, I get a frantic beating on my door. They cut the main water line and it was gushing all over my front yard. I wasn't upset about that part but they then wanted me to shut it off. I did not have the meter key to the street box nor did they. The crew stood around looking at me like it was my issue. I crafted a wire to get it open only to find a lock on the shutoff valve (to keep it from being shut off). I had to use my Dremel to saw it off, all the while with a huge flood in my yard. Now, with all this water in the yard and in the trench, they had no way to get it out so I let them use my submersible pump. This all could have been avoided had they shut the water off beforehand but instead they chose to trench away. Moreover, they didn't have the proper tools should a leak occur. My frustration continued when the manager, Miriam, told me that it was my fault that they cut the line and that they wouldn't take anything off the bill. They used my tools and left me with a huge water bill. I was in utter shock especially considering I had $10K left in potential business. She sent the old man back out only for him to continue blaming me and threating to rip out the drain if I didn't pay. They eventually took off $100 and we will not be doing future business as they are not only dishonest but incompetent. Take your money elsewhere and pass on J Bell. read more

Absolutely horrible experience!!! We had one broken nozzle and the employee decided to take advantage of us. He started dropping flags all over the yard then told us that we needed to repair a bunch of nozzles that had been already repaired 2 weeks ago, by J Bell themselves. He then began digging large holes all over the lawn, without my knowledge and then told me we needed to pay more. I told him NO WAY!!! He argued and tried to convince me that they needed to come back and dig more holes. I said NO WAY!!! He then left with yard full of holes. I then called the Manager. She said "I'll send someone to fix it". They never showed up. 3 days later, I'm knee deep in mud filling holes myself. Will never recommend them to anyone.
