After my very bad experience with Aquamax (see my review), I found another reviewer on Angie's List who also had to stop their repairs with the same vendor and start over..... he used Fellows Irrigation Services in McKinney and was very pleased with their work ethics and quality of services. So, my husband called on a Tuesday morning (the day after we stopped work with Aquamax) and had an appointment the "same" day for 3 PM. He was impressed from the moment the person answered the phone. She was very informative and assured him that at any given time she would be available to answer the phone should he need any further assistance or have any questions (we had been burned with Aquamax - once we began to have issues - who would not answer the phone other than to make your initial appointment. You could leave a message, but no one would ever return your call....). Even though Fellows charges $100 per hour, they pro-rate it, so if they are working 45 minutes, you pay for 45 minutes, not an hour. Very nice!
Buddy and his assistant arrived on time and were ready to work. When I questioned Buddy about costs he had a surprised look on his face stating "didn't they (the company) already review this with you?" Yes, they did, but after my experience with Aquamax I felt I needed to ask this question and stay on top of everything planned, etc. I later found with Fellows, this is not needed. They are a very reputable company with superior work ethics and they keep you in the loop during the entire process. When I told Buddy that I only wanted the two major leaks repaired and then let's evaluate what else the system needs, he told me they should have those repaired within 45 minutes or less and he was right. When they completed that work, he then stopped work to review another leak found and ask my permission to fix it as well. As we moved along, I then asked him to determine why one zone was not working and he estimated one hour to find the most likely cause - a broken wire. They found the wire, but the hour was up and he stopped work to reassess with me. At this point, we decided that we would put further search for the wire on hold for now and discussed replacing our timer, which was a larger priority. Buddy had the timer in his truck and I agreed to the price ($359 installed) and he proceeded. Not only did I receive a superior product, Buddy also trained me on how to program it and gave me insructions of when and how many times to water per week based on when the temperature is above or below 70 degrees in the AM. I was so impressed and felt confident I could run my new system immediately.
Buddy and his very efficient assistant were here approximately 3 and 1/2 hours and charged me $299 for work performed and, as mentioned above, $359 for the timer installation. When they left, I was able to water my yard for the first time in a long while.
I highly recommend this company and have already scheduled some additional time in May to complete my other repairs and to tune up all sprinkler heads. It is such a nice feeling when you find and work with a company who truly cares about YOU and your satisfaction. Fellows has pride in their work and it shows. read more
