We recently relocated to Allen and purchased a home that is about 25 years old. While the home is amazing and in great shape, there were a few places whee we wanted to add some lighting, fans, and power drops. I found ABR here on Yelp and submitted for a quote. It takes them a week or so to get over to complete the quote in our experience. They respond almost immediately, it is just arranging the quote that takes more time. The quote was provided after a detailed walk through by one of their team. I was able to ask questions and was provided with specific solutions that would solve our needs as easily and cost effectively as possible. After reviewing the quote, the pricing was extremely competitive in my opinion. Having had electrical work done in other locations before, I was actually surprised by how reasonable the quote was for all the work we requested. It took about 3 weeks before we could get the install done. This is due to how busy they are and the availability of supplies. It seemed like a long time to wait, but when the time arrived, the work was completed in a timely fashion. All of the jobs were done professionally over two days. Upgraded interior lighting in kitchen and living room Increased lighting in the garage. Two power drops on the patio. Installation of a ceiling fan on the patio. I needed a couple electrical upgrades to my home and after getting some quotes and doing research, I opted to go with ABR electric. I couldn't be more pleased with that decision. For the quote, James provided a very thorough and honest write up of the work that would be done: a NEMA 14-50 installed for a future EV, a whole home surge protector, and a power inlet box so I can plug a generator into my home. I appreciated that I was kept in the loop about everything. Communication is important to me. I also valued that the company took care of getting the permits and respected my property. For the inlet box, we opted to cut along the garage's drywall instead of running wire outside, but they took care to not make a mess or make it unsightly. They screwed the drywall pieces back on and I was able to fill the gaps with spackle and paint it so it looks like they were never there. I also really liked that their work didn't interrupt my day. They needed to move some of my switches in the breaker box, but it never disrupted my work since I work from home and having power to everything is super important. Once everything was installed, James took the time to chat with us while waiting on the inspector to approve the installation. I can't thank him enough for walking us through how to use the generator and connect it to our home. I was deathly afraid I was going to blow my house up if I did something wrong, so I'm glad he was around to instruct us on what to do. It's little things like that that go a long way. I had them install a NEMA 14-50 outlet in my garage, and my ChargePoint HomeFlex. That was excellent for me, and the entire experience was quick, professional and very high quality. I've had ABR do a number of jobs for me, and I've always had a generally positive experience with them. I'd like to keep things up to date with a new review, and I hope this will be beneficial for their team. Recently I had a new sub panel and circuit added. A few positives: 1. James is great to work with as always. He's very thorough in his explanations and he helps provide solutions that are cost effective and competitive. 2. Jason kept me informed of the work progress and he made an effort to ensure the work met my needs. He also was detailed in his explanations. A few things I think that could be improved: 1. Shoe coverings-- I had to mop my floor a few times just due to the amount of dust and dirt that got tracked in as the electricians came in and out. 2. Parts and tools readiness-- I felt that they were inadequately stocked with parts or tools as they came to the job. One of the requirements were interconnecting nipples between the main and sub panel, but it appeared there were attempts to use an assortment of parts to try interconnecting the panels. The holes in the stud between the panels were completely wallowed out to nearly the whole depth of the stud, seemingly in an effort to accommodate the assortment of parts, and the electricians left a few times for the store, which suggested to me that the parts inventory wasn't adequately considered prior to arriving onsite. I believe this parts issue contributed to the electricians having to work longer than necessary. I also observed one of my screwdrivers being used as a chisel at one point. 4. Workmanship-- The new circuit run does not appear to be adequately stapled due to some amount of slack that I observed where the wire comes out through the top plate. 5. Cleanliness of work-- For the ceiling penetration for the new circuit, the apprentice was instructed to create a hole. However, it seemed he was not adequately instructed on how to capture the drywall debris when creating the hole, which resulted in drywall dust falling down onto the counter. For the subpanel in the garage, although it's the garage, I think more effort could be taken to control dust when cutting open the wall. One option would be having a vacuum hose held up near the cutting saw when opening the wall. I found every surface in my garage covered in a fine layer of drywall and wood dust after completion of the work. 6. Termination Torque checks-- I found multiple terminals not completely tightened when I checked the panel later on. read more

We had originally hired a handyman to replace some ceiling fans with new ones that had lights. The other guy took two fans down, said they had the wrong size for the mounting bracket and 1. When we built our arbor/pergola/covered patio, we had a company that ran the wiring inside our outdoor kitchen. A few years later, we were inundated by rats that made a mess of the inside of the counter, and we noticed that they were building nests and chewing electrical wires. Thank goodness for ABR Electric!
