For YEARS I struggled with the particulars of how to bring our home (built in 1952) out of the mid-previous century and into the 21st century - it is an immense challenge. I am a bit of a clean energy/efficiency fanatic and I looked at the problem from every angle I could conceive of. I wanted some 'pie in the sky' stuff - but they - in kindness and respect - talked me off the ledge and into reality - a good reality. An actually excellent reality. They are genuine and they care about what they do - the whole team. And they understand the heat pump's essential efficiency proposition: 3-4 units of heating or cooling for 1 unit of electrical energy (due to no chemical bonds being broken in burning just moving heat around). For me, that counts - and counts BIG. Have you ever read about or experienced shopping for an electric car from conventional (gas powered) car dealers? They do NOT want to sell you and EV. They make no margin on an EV. They know precious little about what an EV is....they are in every way 'all in on petrol'.... It is just the same with HVAC for your home....most of the BIG HVAC companies do sell a heat pump or two - but they mostly would rather sell you another high-margin gas furnace.... 1 888 Heat Pumps installed a heat pump for us last month. The heat pump is amazing. I was worried it would be loud. It is much quieter than the furnace it replaced. I cannot even hear it when I am outside on the deck 10 feet away from it. The people and company were also great. We reached out to a few companies; prices were similar, but this was the only company that actually took some measurements before recommending a system to us. I was also happy knowing this company is locally-owned. The install is clean -- they got rid of all the old stuff -- and the installers were super friendly and super competent. From start to finish, this was a positive experience! I've wanted a heat pump for the efficiency and warm/cool properties. I contacted 1-888-Heat-Pumps earlier this month due to their stellar Yelp reviews, and have been 100% impressed since then. They have SUCH courteous employees- every single one and I met probably 7-8. The first guy on the phone took my info and promptly scheduled a visit for the next day. He explained everything about how the unit would work in a very easy to understand way, answered all my questions, then promptly scheduled a project manager to take more measurements the next day. He, too, couldn't have been more informed and polite. They were able to schedule me very promptly, find some savings in the unit size, and did a three day install with another bunch of workers that were sweet, helpful and efficient. We called the company because of good reviews and we loved the name (sad you had to change it!) and the process was completely smooth. We were initially hesitant about the Fujitsu brand but the team's detailed explanation of the brand, the technology, the sizing of the unit, the process - well, just all of it - felt detailed, thorough, and professional. The whole team, top to bottom was extraordinarily friendly and easy to work with. They explained everything, answered our questions, did what they said they were going to do when they were going to do it. They kept the worksite clean and it went quickly with minimal disruption. The pricing was quite fair and we felt good about helping a young business, with people from our community grow. We have had the unit for about six months now. It is totally silent - we hear nothing inside or out. There are no more pockets of hot and cold in the house. The temperature is just even. So far our electric bills haven't changed. I don't know what it will be like if it ever gets hot in Berkeley and we need to cool the house but it is a guilty pleasure to know we do have cooling should we need it. Afterward I asked about getting the module installed that is required for remote control of the system via mobile app. Drake did that as well, & again the work was careful & flawless. The Fujitsu heat pump that Yellow Jacket/1-888-Heat-Pumps recently installed at our house works as well as we could ever have imagined. The difference as compared to standard gas-burning heating systems is huge; no more loud noise and hot outbursts when the burner kicks in, just a soft murmur, and the heat pump keeps the room temperature constant in all rooms. The touch-panel thermostat is easy to operate, indicates the operation mode (heating, cooling and drying) and offers many settings choices beyond the temperature, including two sets of on/off timers for every day of the week; and four different blower speeds. All personnel we had contacts with have been friendly and showed competence, and instead of applying just a few modifications to the air ducts (as per contract) they replaced them all to ensure best performance. The installation included a leakage test and pressure measurements. In summary, we are very happy that we decided on getting a heat pump installed and that we chose Yellow Jacket/1-888-Heat-Pumps to do this work. read more
