Adam will work with you to keep your system alive. He's a problem solver and practical. He replaced a faulty gas valve on a 20-year-old furnace yesterday over Thanksgiving break. He's a younger guy in the style of the old-school "business owner as technician", and doesn't follow the model of most HVAC companies, which is to get onsite and then sell you on upgrading your entire system. He takes pride in getting more life out of your equipment. If you need a new system, he's good at that too. I asked him to install a new furnace at my old place a few years back, and he was the only professional willing to install the equipment I provided him. All other HVAC companies I consulted would only install their own equipment. I have since learned that HVAC companies get good deals with manufacturers they represent and a good part of their profit is marking up the equipment they are able to get at a discount the average consumer can't get. Adam has similar relationships which he was transparent about, but he was still perfectly willing to install the furnace I provided. That system has been humming along nicely. read more

He responded to my request for help connecting my furnace to a hardwired power source (previous owners were using an extension cord to connect the furnace which was a hazard and not to code) and made arrangements to come out the next morning to check out my problem. I discovered Ambient Experts using a Google search for Bryant HVAC dealers in my neighborhood. Adam recommended pulling an 8-wire thermostat cable to install a true hybrid gas-electric heating system. He finds power extenders to be unreliable and unnecessary in my case. The next morning, he came out with his crew and rewired my Carrier heat pump, Bryant furnace, and EcoBee thermostat. They did a standard dual-fuel system wiring in about 2 hours. It conforms to industry standards, and the price was very reasonable. I am happy, and believe that my system will be much more reliable in the future. I would use them for warranty service any time. I highly recommend Ambient Experts HVAC. Very responsive to Yelp request and texts, scheduled appointment quickly. Had an issue with overheating in one bedroom and not enough heat in another on same floor. Adam helped to quickly identify a quick solution to choke the vent to the over heated room which sent more heat to the other room, did not require additional parts. I appreciate he didn't try to upsell unnecessary parts and repairs. He and other technician were very professional and answered my many questions about the HVAC setup and potential causes. They took time to test heat airflow in both rooms before and after to ensure repair was working. Completed the entire repair within an hour. My ancient (probably 80 yrs old) gas furnace was acting up so I wanted it repaired. One company said they had never seen a furnace this old and had no idea what to do. Another company came and changed the valve which made it worse, leaving us without any heat. Then luckily I found Ambient Experts HVAC. Adam was professional and extremely knowledgeable. He was able to diagnose the problem and fix it right away. But I knew the furnace was very old, with potential failure and safety risks. So I decided to replace the unit. Adam was patient in explaining various options so I could make an informed decision. Before the job began, he also met with the asbestos estimator and technicians to make sure the prep was done properly. After that, Adam and Jenson disassembled my large furnace (which weighed a lot!) for disposal. Then they did the hard part, installing the new unit with all the associated duct work, inclusive of a couple of new ducts in a narrow crawl space. I'm writing this from the coziest of living rooms that, until a few hours ago, was nothing but a farce. It looked warm, it looked Christmas ready, but it was not warmer than the 37 degree nights that have been plaguing the normally mild Bay Area. No joke there was a week where wool socks and layers did nothing to take the frigid edge off and my family and I watched our breath in the morning and at night. Our heater actually fizzled out in April. We called Adam and he came out, quickly fixed it, and delivered the tragic news that it would only work a couple times because we needed to replace it. He said the good news was that our dinosaur of a wall heater was from around the 70's and that they typically last many decades. He offered to replace it and deduct the fee we paid to fix it, but my husband and I decided to be stubborn fools and try to tough out the winter with wool socks and layers. Fast forward to present times where my whole family was fReezing our royal nene's off and we decide to replace the heater because not having one in 40 degree weather is nuts. I thought I lost Adams number and started consulting with other HVAC companies. Most of them either didn't deal with such antiques as a wall heater or quoted us at least 1,000 more than Adam. I literally squealed with delight when I found his number at the very end of my text history. I wrote Adam and he responded right away saying he would fix it the following week AND charge me the original quote included the $200 deduction for the original repair.
