Oren came for an in-person estimate and very promptly sent back a quote. Of the 3 quotes I obtained, it was about 50% higher than the quote I selected, but the same as the other one. I think Oren would have done a good job, but I made my decision largely based on price. I think the quote was fair, but the difference perhaps was the position of the condenser and the route (i.e., more vs. less work) as well as uncertainties related to permitting (i.e., whether unforeseen additional work would be needed). I'm glad I got a quote from him and appreciate his time. read more

If I could give Oren 10 stars, I would. My dryer has been chugging along for a while and I realized I had never had the vents cleaned. Called Oren on a Tuesday afternoon and he and his team were at my house on Wednesday morning. In addition to a very dirty vent, he noticed that there wasn't much air coming through. Asked me to show him the crawl space and lo and behold, my vent pipes were so old that they had almost disconnected. Oren and his team replaced the pipes and cleaned everything. I am thoroughly impressed with the attention to detail. We had an estimate within our expectations the day after his visit which we accepted and had an appointment for install a couple-three weeks hence. Within a week we were called and told that HOS had a cancellation and that we could have our installation done the next day. Oren and his team are excellent. We moved to the Bay Area a few years ago and during the last few summers we really had a hard time with the bouts of high temperatures that seemed to settle in for a month or two each year. We convinced ourselves for a few years to just buy/use portable AC units, but they were really clunky and frustrating to keep setting up during random heatwaves. This year, I decided to look into getting AC installed. I contacted ~15 HVAC contractors in the Bay Area and was able to get quotes from ~9 of them (I found a lot of them through Yelp) for a 4-zone mini-split system. We had the same unit in our previous home and knew more or less what we wanted. Oren was by far the easiest to work with, I walked with him around my home and pointed out the spots where I wanted the units to go and the location for the condenser. He offered a few suggestions to make the install go smoothly and was able to send me a quote by the end of the day. His quote for the system (Mitsubishi) was very reasonable, and I felt comfortable hiring his company for the job. The office staff were very responsive, sending updated quotes with model numbers and pricing breakdowns that made it pretty easy to understand what we were paying for and helping us explore some options for the system. The installation took 2 days. His crew was excellent. They were very courteous and easy to talk with. My wife and I worked from home both days just in case anything came up, but they never really needed anything from us. Mostly, I just kept poking my head in to check how things were going, and every time I did, I just saw a bit more of the system coming together. After everything was in place, the team went to all the units to test them, and we were all set. Oren installed AC (condenser and coil) to my existing furnace and ducting. The unit is working. I had three gripes after competition of the job. 1. When going over the work, one of the workers explained to me how "who ever installed our furnace did it incorrectly and it should he laying on its side, and that's why we had to run our piping like this". If a worker finds something done incorrectly previously they should ALWAYS inform the owner. Perhaps I would have wanted to change it. And if its going to make your work look less than perfect it would be wise to informer the home owner, otherwise it makes your workmanship look poor. 2. I bought a brand new Nest thermostat. I handed it (still in the shrink wrap) to one of the workers at my front door, he opens it (instead of waiting to come inside) and removes it from the packaging and drops it directly on ground (hard pavers). But he doesn't say anything at all. I look at the Nest and it has a small chip in the white painted coating but looked ok overall so I let it slide. Not to be mean or rude but he was the youngest of the three workers and seemed to be a bit slow. 3. After completion of the job when I tested the system their was an obvious air leak from the ducting where it joins the furnace. I told them and they patched it. We'll see how it holds up. Would I use then again? I think so. But this is a reminder that you're not getting the owner or person that writes your estimate to do your work. You're getting workers that you have never met. So check their work. I forgot to get cash from the bank the day before and Oren was nice enough to give me an extra day to pay. read more

They cleaned up after themselves and even took off their shoes in my home without being asked. They had to return a separate day for one other issue and were again responsive and quick. All of the stars! Sean, the technician that came out was amazing! Had to go through two swindlers from other companies before actually getting to someone who knew what he was doing and was honest. Honest air conditioner repair people are hard to come by, so stick with this place! When the air conditioning suddenly stopped working a little over a week ago when I just moved in, the first person to come out said the entire system needed to be replaced for $8,000 and he pushed for me to get going with that immediately. The second person who came out was a friend of a friend of a family friend who managed to swindle me out of $700. He replaced a few parts and installed a new thermostat because mine was "old", telling me that will make the air work. When he was done, some air was coming out of the vents, but barely any. He tried to convince me that my house's air flow doesn't get any stronger than that and the puff of air coming out was appropriate for the size of each room. Then he asked me why I wasn't married. This piece of crap installed gas lights instead of air conditioning. Eventually no air was coming out at all. I had an appointment with Oren services set up for the next day the friend told me to cancel because everyone but his friend is a crook. And when I mentioned the "married" comment - it was just a "joke"! The amount of sexism I experienced from that experience was absurd. I was so mad and no one was believing me, so I emailed Oren Services to hopefully get my appointment back, and thankfully was able to. Sean did what none of these other people did and actually went up in the attic to see what was going on with the duct work. The others barely looked at anything and one left the vent open before he left. Sean knew what he was doing, actually troubleshooted and knew how to fix it right away. Also, he was very nice. A block of ice had formed due to a faulty blower motor that blocked the air flow through the ducts. The other guys also noticed the ice block, but did nothing. Sean replaced the blower motor and in order to test it, turned the heater on to melt the block of ice - something none of the others even thought to do, basically just saying there was no way to remove a block of ice. Because no one else knew something as simple as melting the ice to get rid of it?! Everyone noticed the ice problem, but Sean was the only one to actually do something about it! Once the ice was gone, the new blower worked great, with a strong air flow through all the vents that the one guy tried to convince was impossible for this house to have. Sean also noticed that some vents that had no to little air flow were installed upside down or blocked in some way, when he fixed them, air came right out from vents I was told were supposed to have air flow that weak. Sean went above and beyond and even charged less than the others. I'm sticking with Oren Services from now on. read more

We had an emergency situation after returning from our vacation. It was about 50 degrees in our house and the central heater was unresponsive. I called several places to get quotes for an evaluation. Oren's was one of the few places that returned my call and promptly answered my questions without making me feel like an idiot who knew nothing about the situation. All I knew was the controls weren't working and my kids were shivering. Henos came to the rescue. He evaluated that the circuit board was fried from the nearby water heater that had broken down the week before. He was clear about the cost, which seemed reasonable and within similar quotes I received if I needed to replace the entire HVAC system. But then J decides he wants to add central A/C in addition to the extensive heater repairs, which included a new heater system, relocation of said system, and additional duct work. As you can imagine, the cost was going to be substantial with the added A/C unit, which requires an entire boatload of work that, honestly, I have zero knowledge. However, Henos was able to breakdown the process and cost, negotiate a generous discount, and complete the work within 2 days with his crew. Special mention of Jose, who worked late into the evening to ensure the work was complete and patiently answered my questions as well. There were some unexpected additional costs, but Oren was SO kind. He absorbed the additional expenses that resulted on his side and we shared the cost of the third-party contractor (i.e. electrician). J & I felt that we were dealing with an honest business and are confident they would provide the same services to others. Even friends who had to install or replace their HVAC system pre-pandemic commented that we got such a great deal. A month later, the heater works better than before, warming up our old house. The portable heaters were retired and J is excited to test out the a/c in the summer. Highly recommend! read more

Oren was personable and professional..no problem with his manner. I was almost taken to be honest. He knew I had a rodent fear as I had a mouse come into my house. I feared they had gotten in my heating ducts as I saw poop in my return vent. He saw a section on one duct that was repaired and intimated rodents may be getting inside there. He told me I should replace 4 of my ducts to a tune of $2600 and also pay a cleaning fee of $599.. If he was replacing 4 that would be 1/2 my ducts. obviously, the new ones wouldn't need cleaning. I wasn't sold so I got other HVAC service assessments to find out there is ZERO evidence of rodents invading my ducts and that my crawl space is really clean.. the mouse appears to have gone through a wall vent in my living room to get into the return . I don't know how Oren's could get anything under a 5 star review. The entire process for getting our air conditioner replaces was carefree! Our tech, Guy came to give us an estimate. He did a thorough inspection to determine if our old unit was repairable. These days it's hard to find someone who is willing to repair an older unit as it's much easier to just swap out for a new one (and more profitable as well). Guy listened and is very friendly, he instantly made us comfortable and we felt like Oren's was the right choice for us. Unfortunately, we had a condenser leak so we needed to a new AC. We paid the service fee but it is waived if you end up doing the work. I received all receipts and notifications instantaneously and the estimate within a couple of hours. We had a few questions that the office answered and was able to add some detailed information to the estimate ie. make and model for our records, and it included all work and repairs with a manufactures and service warranty. We also received a call from Guy to go over any questions we had, giving us a lot of confidence to accept the bid. We also did check with our family member who works in the industry and confirmed the pricing was very good. Once we electronically signed the estimate, we scheduled the new AC to be installed in 2 days. The office just needed to call and order the parts, luckily everything was in stock! Guy arrived on time for the installation. He worked very clean and organized. Tools were kept together and no mess, I was very surprised. He was a one man team and even cleaned out furnace before hooking it up to the new parts. Very impressive work, beyond my expectations! Also, he worked pretty quietly which was nice because we live in a condo surrounded by other residents. It was an full days worth of work but once he finished, he ran and tested everything to be sure it was in working order. I never once felt like he rushed the job to get to another.
