Great smoothies! I got beetroot with ginger and it was very refreshing. They always make the juices fresh with a juicer. A bit pricey, but food is amazing. Xiao long bao was super soupy but quite expensive. Tofu wraps were very good. Turnip cake was good too. Excellent service and pretty clean. Small space too. Great experience
Decent dim sum at decent value. Not the best I've ever had, but pretty good and a convenient location for our pre dinner snack. We got the set menu based on Yelp! recommendations, the har gow was good. Regretted not trying the xlb but the price was a little higher and we were headed to Taipei soon after... Great service, plenty of seating when they open the 2nd floor, and very clean.
One of My favourite places for dim sum in HK. It is on the expensive side compared to other places, such as One Dim Sum and Tim Ho Wan. It is a bit out of the way from a MTR station, that is the only issue, it is in the mid levels area, so it is a bit of a trek. If you are in the LKF area, you should definitely come here.
Located in Soho, the dim sum here is quite pricey. When we got here and looked at the menu, I kept thinking how expensive this place was. Instead of 4 pieces like most places, you get 3 pieces per order for about $4 USD. I know rent is high here and it is in a convenient location. It had great reviews, so I was hoping for the best. Ordering was simple. There is a menu with some photos and order slips on your table to check what you want and hand to the waitstaff. It is in English and Chinese which makes it easy. Now on to the food. Hargow was delicious and meaty. Loved it. Siu mai with the black truffle was the best siu mai I had in my life and I've had a lot! Drooling thinking about it. Eggplant thing was good, xiao long bao with secret broth was a good size and also quite tasty but I've had better. I also liked the poached vegetables which didn't have a ton of oyster sauce over it. I'll definitely be back soon. I want to try the siu mai with quail egg, chicken feet, sponge cake, and basically everything else. I like that they also have options for set meals for $85HKD or about $12USD which is perfect for one. Seating area is small and not unusual if you have to share a table. A line starts forming shortly after it opened on a Sunday at 11a.
Bottom line: A tad above average dim sum So you are walking around central and if you are a foreigner you will be attracted into LKF and SOHO without knowing it. Then you're hungry and thirsty and there are a plethora of options; great! After reading the menus you decide on {insert western food here}. Wait a tick. You're in Hong Kong! What are you doing?! This place is surrounded by Western cuisine and bars. If you venture downhill there are more options for Hong Kong style food. Sui mai was solid. Tasty and steamed well. Veggies in oyster sauce were not overcooked and I liked how the leaves were cut and separated from the stem pieces. The rice dumpling with mango was really good! Not too sweet and very soft. Overall it was a very decent option especially if want stay away from Western food but want a beer afterwards. Last note: Service was great. The staff is friendly, helpful, and can speak English.
We made an online reservation a few days before and proceeded to take a long walk to Ding Dim from Central station on a weekday late morning. Upon reaching, we were shown to a table in a very cramped place that only accommodated a row of tables just outside the kitchen (separated by a window). There seem to be more seating at the neighboring space under Ding Dim. We were recommended to take the Classic set and also had 2 cups of orange juice. Tea charge was included nonetheless. The food was awesome. Everything in our set was yummy and I wished I had the space to order and eat more! The vegetable and shrimp dumpling stood out as there was a crunchy and green tasting filling (in a good way). The classic set was also a good way for couples to try their dim sum as most orders would come in a set of 3.
This is a great little place hidden on Elgin Street. It has seating on two levels. The food is made to order and is extremely fresh. They have a combo set and it is perfect for two people to try multiple items. Next time if you are in Central, should definitely give it a try.
Sunday morning and what else do you go for but dim sum! This spot is around the corner of my flat so not only is it convenient but also really good! Came around 11am and it was crowded. Waited for about 10min so not too bad of a queue. While they don't have a ton of items they do well with what they serve. Menu is has pictures for those who need it and once you know what you want you fill out the sheet and hand it to the server. It took a little longer for the food to come out but I'm thinking it's made to order so it's worth the wait. Highlights for me was the baked BBQ pork bao and siu mai with truffle. Yea it has a bit of truffle on top that just gives it that extra goodness! All in all it was a good start to a Sunday!
Ding Dim is a hole in the wall dim sum cafe. I use the term cafe as to call their location on Elgin Street a restaurant would, in my honest opinion, be a stretch of the truth. It is a row of about 4-5 table (depending on the configuration), most of which you can only sit along one side of, to allow the wait staff to pass. It is probably better known as a caterer, supplying dim sum to corporate events and the like. However, those brave enough to cram in can also go to the "restaurant". OK, so let me vent first. They have a habit of ignoring or doubling up bookings, so I wouldn't even bother to make one. They claim not to have a toilet, which is actually at the back being used as a coat room for the staff. The staff are a bit surly (see pervious comment about bookings). Is you want a coke, they have to go down the road to the 7-11 for it. Right, breathe... On the plus side, the dim sum is rockingly good - hand made on site with no MSG. Most dishes could do with a nip more salt, but nonetheless, excellent dum sum. I would go for the standard staples like har gau and sui mai, both of which come in massive golf ball size pieces. The spring rolls are excellent, as are the steamed ribs with black bean. Dishes vary from HKD16 for veggies, through to HKD78 for xiao long bao. However, most of the staples hover around HKD26. Definitely worth a try for some excellent dim sum. If you don't fancy waiting on Elgin Street in the baking sun, try the delivery.
Dim sum place on Hong Kong island.. It was good nothing special tho. small place up a big hill not fun to walk up in the HK summer heat .. i would not go out of my way to come here. I would not go back Food - Average Service - Average Atmosphere- below Average
Outstanding first dim sum experience in HK thanks to Yelp reviewers! Glutinous shrimp dumpling and shrimp & pate fried dumpling were outstanding. We tried 10 different plates between three people. A little bit pricier than most dim sum, but it was all very good quality and flavor.
This place is one of my favorite dim sum spots in Hong Kong! No frills, just simply delicious. The BEST item on the menu are the BBQ pork buns. They are not the white steamed ones that most places served. They are baked to perfection! The buns are crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside, and they don't skimp on the filling. The filling itself is already so mouthwatering. They have unique dim sum options too like quail egg shumais, or black truffle shumais. All in all, I will definitely return if I ever find myself on this side of Victoria Harbor. Service was pretty fast! The ambiance is nice and cozy. Not a ton of seating, but we lucked out on a spacious booth. read more
The ambiance is casual & kinda cool in this little place but the dim sum itself could be better. They seemed to be made well ahead of time and either re-heated or just cold. The egg tarts, while tasty, were sunken in, usually a sign that they have been sitting for a while. The location and the atmosphere would be the reason to come here. Not the food. read more
I was skeptical to try Ding Dim despite its esteemed reputation of being a Dim Sum pioneer in this expat riddled part of Elgin. While expecting gringo executions of standard Dim Sum, Ding Dim not only met my expectations but surpassed them. While it's true the selection is limited and the prices are a bit heftier than the norm, there is no doubt that it is one of the better options in the Central area. There are many heavy hitters when it comes to the HK Dim Sum scene, but Ding Dim's longevity is one to be praised. Being *literally* in business for the last 50 years is no small feat in a market as competitive as HK's, and they've adapted well along the way, adding online delivery, website based reservations, and a modern approach to their cuisine. Non-Chinese folks can relish in the fact they might have one of the easiest to read Dim Sum menus anywhere in HK. For locals that work in the area, many will flock here to escape the rest of the gringo vibe that Elgin has to offer. They'll embrace the Truffled Siu Mai (黑松露燒賣) which is an easy winner for any SIu Mai lover out there. So too the Minced Beef + Egg Over Rice (畫蛋牛肉飯) scores on the delicious train and the Char Siu Buns (叉燒包) are semi-addictive. Ding Dim falls flat on a number of things food wise, including their version of Soup Dumplings (小籠包) and Shrimp Dumplings (蝦餃). Service isn't much to write home about either and the cramped table setup makes for an awkward encounter as random parties scoot through the restaurant. Lastly, the prices are higher here than most places, so a few dishes can get expensive really quickly. Come only if leaving Central isn't an option, evening Dim Sum is on the docket, and if black truffled Dim Sum items are your thing. A big plus to those who wish to use credit cards and want unlimited refills of tea directly at the table. read more

***Set Meal- Good Value for money and Good taste*** In this Set Meal, the SIU MAI with BLACK TRUFFLE TOPPING was the best item. The Siu Mai itself was already quite good but the truffle just lent it that extra flavor....definitely I would go for truffle topping again.The Quail Egg topping is also intriguing so perhaps I might want to add that too. The BEEF BALL on bean curd also deserves a mention.The SPRING ROLL was crispy and tasty.... perhaps a bit oily but I guess one would expect that since it's deep fried. The DUMPLING with VEGETABLE and SHRIMP had a slightly pungent flavor (from vegetables) and it was perfect. The PAN SEARED GREEN CHILI PEPPER was spicy as expected and had a very tasty stuffing inside it read more

I realize this sounds odd, but it took me long time to find a good dim sum restaurant in Hong Kong... And this is it. One of the few places to serve dim sum for dinner, it is well worth it. I don't really know what we ordered, but it was delicious and perfectly cooked. Nothing was greasy, and I suppose we Americans always want a little bit more sauce... it's a small-ish restaurant but most of them are in HK, I will definitely return here the next chance that I get. read more
