If you dine in, they'll give you a number card for your table, and they'll bring your order to you. Speaking of table - find one first before ordering. While it's a huge space, it's also pretty crowded. I got: - 9 pc chicken nuggets: excellent - fish fillet sandwich: yummy - plain hamburger: meh - I don't hate it, but get something else. I didn't come to Hong Kong for McDonald's, but I'm glad we checked it out! They have items and promos exclusive to this store. Service was wonderful! We somehow automatically get tagged as out of towners, but they treat us extra nicely. If the McDonald's back at home were like this, we'd probably go more than once or twice a year during road trips. read more

But even though I've been to a lot of McDonald's, until I went to this Fancy McDonald's in Hong Kong, was I able to have a unique experience. For the most part, all the McDonald's are uniform no matter what continent. Sometimes there are little mutations for the local's taste, but for the most part it's the same old thing. Walking in this location you'll notice a difference right away. The layout is (for a lack of a better word) "fancy". There are a bunch of self service machines to custom make a burger or salad. I spent at least 10 minutes trying to customize my burger. I didn't understand after I made my purchase that I was supposed to grab a number to put on the table and wait for my meal to be delivered to my table. After figuring that out and waiting about 12 minutes, my burger came. How was it? It was pretty awesome. The toasted brioche bun really makes the burger. But also the burger patties are bigger than any burger patty at a regular McDonald's. The fresh lettuce, tomatoes, and onions that are also used on the custom salads take it to the next level. Usually at a regular McDonald's, I'll get chopped up onions with a couple of pickles in my burger. Big difference. All that for around $8. Let's just say if McDonald's started making all their burgers this good, they could compete with real burger joints instead of other fast food restaurants. read more

This is one of the nicest McDonald's you will ever come across. From the gourmet and customizable burgers to the bakery section, it actually feels like a cafe. It's no wonder this one is made extra nice as it's located inside the popular Admiralty Centre. Like most McDonald's nowadays, there are multiple touchscreens to make your order and pay. I had to keep my meal light since we were headed to dinner soon, but ordered the Chicken and Egg Sandwich with Small Fries and a Cheese Soy Milk Matcha drink. Sometimes, I don't understand why McDonald's aren't all the same everywhere. This chicken and egg sandwich was like a fusion of a chicken sandwich with an egg biscuit --so simple, yet so good! The matcha drink was also solid, but pretty typical from most matcha latte drinks (although where else can you order one of these at a McDonald's?!). Nonetheless, great McDonald's visit --if only I could've tried more items, especially the cake, dessert, and baked goods. read more

Like many, I have been eating at McDonald's virtually all my life. And, I am more-or-less a fan. When I first heard about McDonald's Next I was excited to try it out. From the reviews and the overall hype I truly expected a grand experience. Sadly, it was not. To describe this McDonald's, first of all, there are two distinct sections. The first is on one side of the establishment and at that counter they offer traditional McDonald's food. Just a few feet away, to the right of that counter, is the McDonald's Next section. There, you can order various coffee drinks like lattes and so forth as well as certain custom food items based on a very specific realm of choices. Frankly, I was a little let down. The coffee drinks are good and, if you order your drink in an actual mug, the baristas will make a nice design with the foam. The food, however, is not great. Plus, the people from both sections of this McDonald's all sit together in a common area. And, quite frequently, this place is overwhelmingly crowded. The other thing that McDonald's Next should really re-think is the way they have their customers order their supposed custom burgers. You don't do that face-to-face. Instead you do it all on a machine. Then, if you want to pay cash you have to go up to the counter and wait in line to pay. This is just not a very good way for the customer to order and enjoy a so-called custom burger. Overall, it is not a bad place and the staff is nice and helpful. But, it is not the grand McDonald's experience that many make it out to be. read more

I really had to try this place out seeing it blow up on Business Insider. This is known as a FANCY McDonalds!! I loved every aspect of it however, the price on everything is a tad more on the pricier side. I want to say skip everything else and get the build your own burger. Its roughly $7 USD but you can get fries and a soda for like $1 more. Still good but not good enough for Hong Kong standards. You honestly pick what you like on your burger. I did a brioche bun, angus beef, tomato, cheese, lettuce. The most basic burger really and it was delicious. You can't really put a taste to a burger because each burger is so different but you have to try this place out. The atmosphere of this McDonalds is astounding. There is plenty of seats but if you go during lunch hour, it may be a bit difficult to find seating. There is a hand washing station and its super cool; you wash your hands and the first 3 seconds, watery soap comes out and the last 10 seconds, it's just plain water. Pretty cool if you ask me! Overall this is worth a stop if you are in Hong Kong. If you are inthe area, this is a must see! PRO TIP: This is the McDonalds that offers table service after 6pm! read more

Ever since I saw the Buzzfeed segment on McDonald's Next opening up in Hong Kong, I had to go check this place out. Located right off of exit A of the Admiralty MRT station, you can't miss the golden arch sign. This particular McDonald's serves specialty gourmet burgers, salads, desserts, espressos, and bakery items. First, there's a digital kiosk to choose your food items, which was nice. Once you finish your order, you grab a numbered sign and input this number in so that a server can bring the food to you when it's ready. Awesome. They even have an electronic hand washing station that washes, rinses, and dries your hands before you eat. We ordered the create your taste (CYT) burger. I picked the brioche bun with angus beef, guacamole, and bacon. I did wish they had raw red onions as an option. Unfortunately, they only had caramelized onions. Nonetheless, the burger tasted delicious and gourmet. It was a little spicy from their guacamole too. The meat was a little more well done than I'd like. But, that's alright. I even got real silverware with my burger, as if I was being served at a nice restaurant. Loved it. We also got the affogato, which was amazing. McDonald's roasts their own coffee beans. So, their espresso was strong and smooth. I already knew their vanilla soft serve ice cream was legit. So, the combination of quality espresso, ice cream, and their wonderful cookie crumble bottom was just so magical. I couldn't leave Hong Kong without ordering this dessert again. In addition, on my second visit here, I ordered their Shaka Shaka fries. The fries were pretty standard and actually kind of stale. But, when you combine those fries with their wasabi seasoning (cue in the Shaka Shaka dance), it's pretty darn good. The wasabi definitely has a kick! Good for the sinuses. Lol. I wish we had a McDonald's Next in Houston. It elevates McDonald's to another level. This would be a game changer for them, in my opinion. Unfortunately, until next time. I will miss you. I had seen this probably on Buzzfeed and had this as one of my bookmarks to try when I was gonna go to Hong Kong. This is in Admiralty near the station and near the mall as well. I forget but one of the station exits is particularly close to here - unfortunately when I went I chose the complete wrong exit and had to cross a street or two haha. So there might be a line if you're there because people are going to be using the kiosks to order some of the meats. They do have a few classic cashiers up in the front but customization and trying to figure out what they have. They have a CYT burger (create yo own). Went with the brioche classic top with angus beef. You get to choose cheese and some extras (more lettuce, some portobello mushroom, pineapple, guac, fried egg). It's kinda interesting. I ended adding a portobello mushroom smack dab in the middle with the angus beef with the burger. Haha I suggest you do get the meal because I didn't really get too full with the meal per se, because I had other places to try. I also got the hazelnut coffee as well (their coffee tasted better than another location I had the following day- don't know if that means anything). They do bring the orders to your table (you have to grab a placard with a number) and they have a spatula-wood type device where they have yo burger on so that's kinda interesting. And if you're wondering, the sauce, the flavor is so much better than you'd expect from a McDonalds; heck, I didn't even believe that I was at McDonalds and I was here. Their guac is actually better than expected as well, still a bit missing on the salinity but wasn't mush. Their angus beef here doesn't taste frozen haha. They also have other desserts and Create your own Salads here as well. I didn't manage to get a chance to try (I saw they have croissants made at certain times as well). Get everything! I don't often go to McDonalds, for health reasons but this morning, I was craving a warm caffeinated drink and a snack. Instead of a greasy high-sodium McDonald meal, I opted for a medium caramel latte (HK$29) and an add-on of a bacon cheese croissant for HK$13. For a total of $42. Perhaps a little pricey, but a fair deal considering a latte like this would probably cost you HK$42 already at other boutique coffee shops! Honestly, the artisan coffee at McDonalds is pretty good for a good price. My wallet likes. I found a seat pretty quickly along the high tables and slowly devoured my bacon and cheese croissant which was quite tasty, despite the croissant "falling flat" after being reheated. But still fulfilling! They have free wifi for 4 hours, which is excellent. And despite the buzz in the background, I was able to get some Kindle reading done too. read more

The first and only McDonald's Next in the world. When you walk in it feels upscale, well for a McDonald's. The decor is black and steel, giving it s very modern feel. It's here, the automated kiosks that you can order your food. It's very simple to use. The machine walks you through the whole process. If you already have a seat, enter the seat number and an employee will deliver your meal. If not, just pick it up at the counter. This place has a design your own burger and design your own salad, yippee! They also offer upscale desserts. The strawberry shortcake was calling my name. I had to walk in the other direction. I already had a creme brûlée McFlurry coming. I really wanted to try the Lychee Punch but they were out. I liked the box with three types of chicken (fried wings, McNuggets, BBQ wings). When you're done eating, just leave the trash at the table. They have workers to clear the tables. I felt bad doing that because I'm used to dumping my own rubbish. For a McDonald's, this location wins. While most locations in the USA cannot compare to this one, there are plenty McDonald's in Asian countries that promote self ordering kiosks and a more modern and fun atmosphere. You can order via the self ordering kiosks on large touch screens and pay conveniently with credit or the Octopus card. If not, just go up to the counter like the good old days. Depending on what you order, you might get a buzzer to retrieve your items from the coffee bar or a more complex burger. After six in the evening, McDonald's here provides table service. Your order would be delivered right to your table. This location is very busy because it is right in the heart of Admiralty. There are several electrical outlets and charging stations available for use. The tables are well maintained and appear quite clean. If you haven't been to a McDonald's like this, it's pretty "upscale" for a casual fast food joint. read more

Food/Drink: If you build your own burger, they serve it to you on a wooden plate like an artisanal burger restaurant! Really good for taking pictures and also very unique thing to do in McD's. There's a special BOGO price on bolognese fries (mediocre). Price: The build your own burger can be pricey for mcdonald's (around 6 USD) but it's worth it to try once. Everything else is priced regularly as all other mcdonald's. From 3-6 pm there's afternoon tea specials ranging from special priced set lunches (they have boba milk teas!!) to the afternoon tea set (1 drink + 1 piece of dessert for 5 USD). Ok the McDonald's on Eastern and Warm Springs in Las Vegas always has its damn espresso machine broken and can't get its act together.. Yet halfway across the world... this McDonalds Mecca exists. It's our first "real" stop and meal on our HK vacay and wow! It's definitely not the idealistic tourist stop... but it is the only of its kind in the world and a brief subway ride to Admiralty station. So cool! Ordering is a little touchy if you've never done automated DIY ordering before but there is staff to assist. Also, being a gourmet burger bar.. your food takes a little longer. But maaaaan you should see these ice cream cones. Also.. you can see into the kitchen and they have REAL EGGS stacked up! They have a legit coffee and dessert bar.. they bring your food to your table and clean up after you. I can honestly say this place has saved McDonalds for me. There's hope for the golden arches in the world despite Americans harboring a love/hate relationship with it! P.S. The burger was BOMB. Never thought I would end up visiting a McDonalds (I haven't been to a McDonalds for a long time) let alone writing a review on one but here it is. Why is that? In case you have been living under a rock there is a little experiment that the company has been creating called McDonald's Next in HK (McDonalds new change of business to attract the hipster crowd). The changes? For about 7 USD or half the price of a Shake Shack meal you can design your own burger and customize whatever ingredients you want in it, and it's actually pretty good (I guess it's a result of choosing what ingredients you want on the butger). Not to mention the place has chargers and wifi. I also like how you take a number and they bring the food out to you (table service at McDonald's?! I know right). And the food delivered is very Instagram worthy for those who are Instagram bloggers. Smart move by McDonalds to do this. I hope more next style restaurants are on the way. As much as I'd hate to say this for a McDonald's - I'll be definitely back again soon. read more

If you order a fancy made burger like Chipotle, they will deliver the burger to you. The McCafe section has some special desserts that can only be ordered there. I don't frequent McDonald's in the States but when traveling with children, they like the simple stuff in life such as nuggets. So when traveling abroad the likelihood of me finding nuggets on a lot of menus will be minimal. So McDonald's it is... It always amaze me how much nicer McDonald's and other fast food places are in other countries. The main items are the same but taste a little different such as the cheese on my fish sandwich. It was all that it's cracked up to be. The kiosk screens are not as big as their Western counterparts, but they don't need to be. We came here to try the curly fries and prosperity burger. We also tried the strawberry latte. The decor is modern and chic; love the phone charging stations on some of the tables. There is no bathroom, but there is a have washing station. Billed as the "McDonalds of the Future" the stylish new layout incorporates copious touch screen stations to order your food. Additionally, they have a "build your own" premium burger and salad options that bring things into the 21st Century. On this day I test drove the new touch screen panels and built a burger on a fresh artisan bun with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, veggies, and spicy ketchup. The burger was delivered to my table on a wooden cutting board for impressive looking plating (for fast food). The burger was excellent. The beef tasted more smokey (like Burger King) than a standard McDonalds patty. read more

Fancier, upscale Mcdonalds located beside Admiralty station. First off, there's a separate normal McDonalds section from their upscale place with personalized burgers (think Chipotle, but with burgers) and another for their McCafe section with coffee and baked goods. They are the new order stations by your table. You do need to go pick up your food still, unless you're ordering a salad or burger from the upscale place. They have lots of employees walking around to ask if you need anything, for help with the machines and such, so it's definitely a nicer-than-average McDonalds. They also have rows of chargers for your phone - at each "station", there are wireless hubs, and chargers with the Apple end and also microUSB ends - very considerate and amazing. read more

It was hyped up as being more customizable, but I couldn't even add mustard or anything else to my filet o fish or change the meat in a Big Mac. The salads are basic if you don't eat meat. They have really interesting options like grilled mushroom patty and grilled pineapple add-ons. For regional desserts, try the taro soft serve or taro pie! read more
