Nice local Paidang, it's good to have the local food and beer here, it's a busy neighborhood, near the harbor,

At one point in time, this was my go-to dai pai dong style restaurant. Even though it was indoors, the ambiance and decor would really evoke an outdoor, dai pai dong feel. There were even a couple of cats that would randomly walk around and presumably keep the establishment rodent free. It was the charm of this place, combined with the late night hours that made it a super convenient place after a night out at Knuttsford Terrace (https://www.yelp.com/biz/%E8%AB%BE%E5%A3%AB%E4%BD%9B%E8%87%BA-%E9%A6%99%E6%B8%AF). As I understand it, those days are gone. Muike (妹記) is closed. This was the ultimate spot for group dining action. Get bowls of harbin beer, fill it to the brim and cheers over a plethora of Cantonese quality food. I especially enjoyed their fried omelette pancakes (蠔餅), ying yang fish (鴛鴦蒸烏頭), shrimp and egg (蝦仁炒蛋), salty spinach (鹹魚茸飛天通菜), and their special fried rice (揚州炒飯). I could usually get away with ordering 8 dishes for somewhere around 450HKD, which for HK these days is rather fantastic. They had a gritty edge to them, horrendous bathrooms, and some HK service to throw on top of it. They knew they were popular and were a hit with the late night crowd, including me. I've heard from the Mong Kok location (https://www.yelp.com/biz/妹記大排檔-香港-4) that the TST location isn't actually closed but is simply reincarnating somewhere else. Whew. Right now the Mui Kee management won't disclose the new location. That's totally fine, I can't wait to see where they pop up next.

I think over all the food here is great and you can not beat the price. Don't let the let the looks of the place fool you the food is good.

As most of you already know, a large number of actual dai pai dong spots have shut down (大牌檔) due to hygiene issues. So a ton of them are moving into locations like this to recreate the entire "outdoor stall" eating experience. They've done a pretty decent job of recreating the experience from the wall decors to appear as an outdoor environment, along with the floor looking like concrete or asphalt. Even the seating arrangement such as the type of chairs and tables used are made to give it this no-frills type of feel. You've got the typical dai pai dong fare here, ranging from seafood to veggies (quite oily and salty I must say, haha) to some damn tasty clay pot rice (煲仔飯). The stir fried salted black bean clams are a must have! Eat that right along with a bowl of the clay pot rice and you'll be mixing some tasty flavors that'll just make your taste buds water! And as always, order one of those huge beers so you can dine like a local!

What appears as a simple doorway at the street level opens up to a large dining room downstairs hustling and bustling with hungry patrons. The specialty here is Seafood and they do it well. I loved the scallops! Steamed open and smothered with garlic and some rice noodles. A must have every time I visit HK. It could use a deep cleaning to get a full five stars. But it was a good meal overall.

We met friends for dinner and actually went to the wrong restaurant, for there is another Star of Canton just up the street at I Square too and we went there by accident. This restaurant has an expansive and striking view of the harbor, high ceilings, big glassy chandeliers and is very spacious. There is a stage and so much room that it seems like the appropriate spot to have a banquet or wedding. It is one of those large Chinese restaurants that serves a lot of people and thus the soft goods (carpet, chairs, linens, etc) seem warn and need updating. Although I did not do the ordering and did not pay the bill, in addition to special orders of hairy crabs at an additional cost, we had a set dinner with like 7 courses for around $400HKD (which seemed like a great value, knowing all the delicious food we had). The set included their highlighted dish of Braised Whole Japanese Oma Abalone, in addition to marinated sea cucumbers, shrimp, sticky rice, a great soup with bean curd on top and although small and at the very end, a seasame rice ball that was really spectacular & a party in your mouth. Found in 1998, Star of Canton insists the tradition of the canton dishes with less oil, less salt, no MSG and no artificial colour. I like that and it is a niche in a sea of Chinese restaurant options. We had a good experience and liked the ambiance of the place, so we would reccomend and absolutely go back.

The dishes I must order here are their cheesy lobster with longevity noodles and their pepper salt pissing shrimp. Oh so good. My mouth is watering now just writing about it! And that night I went they also had razor clams as well! Yum! Service was great. The people were really friendly. The restaurant was busy on a weeknight as well. It's easy to find, near Jordan station located inside a plaza. Just take the elevator 7/F I think? and it'll take you straight there. Most of all their prices are very reasonable! You can't get this quality and taste for this price anywhere else; that's why I keep coming back. Writing this review makes me happy because I can relive this meal. :-)

We did not know it was a 2 star Michelin restaurant, and I was a bit apprehensive at the beginning, because we did not want to spend too much money on food on this trip. Upon our request, we were seated right in front of the Harbour view and were able to see the light show that start around 8pm. The most beautiful view of HK at night! We opted not to order the duck, which needs to be ordered 24 hour in advance and although I am sure quite delicious is quite pricy (HK$1,438+10%). Reservation in this place is a must! Highlights were the Wok-fried Wagyu with Green Peppers, Mushrooms and Garlic, Wok-seared Chicken Fillet with Lemon Sauce The server was so kind as to give us half servings so we could "sample" some of the more expensive items, add fried rice for substitution with the meat dishes and free desert. This flexibility in providing half portion and substitution is something i've rarely experience in a Michelin restaurant. Overall, we payed $US240 (1,900 Hong Kong Dollar) which includes the 10% service charge for two people for a michelin 2 star restaurant for an unforgettable meal! If I return to HK, I will definitely come back and try their dim sum.
