So if you really like dessert you might end up being disappointed. I came here for the fish maw and other stuff, so I was happy! Besides fish maw, I highly recommend trying their shrimp. It's so plump, succulent and crunchy! I believe they said it's from Vietnam. Their sashimi selection was very decent too. Most of the time I'd skip the sashimi, but they've got clams and amaebi, yum yum! Also, service was excellent. Attentive even though they're slammed. The waitress never stopped clearing out empty plates throughout our meal.

It's a non-zero-sum game. Literally - especially if you decide to challenge your mates to homicidal wings. Their spicy ratings goes from: Honey Garlic, Wuss, Cajin, Mild, Medium, Hot, Suicide and Homicide. I could feel that numbing, tingling sensation on my face as I ingested my 3rd suicide wing. And as I gasped for water and reached for tissue to wipe my drool, I could here this lovely Swiss man sitting three seats away from me, telling customers he's a regular there and that he would never dare go beyond Medium. And that's when I decided that my friend should get the Homicide ones, because if there was a moment to capture what a sucker I am... that would be it. One homicide wing in, my insides were nuked. Perhaps I should have eaten breakfast and lunch first. I feel that their homicide wings should come with a sympathy glass of milk. They don't... so that was cruel of them. Good game, Big Bite. Special shout out to their A&W root beer floats for when you miss home! Their poutine was...acceptable. If you ask me, their Sai Wan branch is better. Less people and more space!

With the advent of Beef & Liberty and Butchers Club Burger, it seems that the humble burger is making some waves in the culinary scene in HK. Well, Big Bite has been a little known stalwart in the burger kingdom for sometime now, and for good reason. They serve a simple menu of burgers and dogs, with various fries and drinks. I say simple, because by concept it is. However, the menu may betray otherwise, as it is a bit of a head bender trying to workout what is and is not in the meal deal etc. So remember to pull out your PHD in statistical analysis before embarking into the menu. Alternatively, just point and grunt. The burgers are brilliant. 100% ground US beef, they are cooked really nicely, so they retain that lovely crumbly dry texture, without being just mince in a bun. The bun is a lovely soft and light wisp of a thing, perfectly framing the pattie and whatever else you can cram in. Unfortunately, I do have a grumble though, the burger was a bit luke warm, and I put this down to the service. I don't know what is going on with the service, but it sucks. It's not even a proper restaurant, in that you order and pay at the counter before taking a table, but even with only one part of the waiting service to do (i.e. bringing me my burger), they take an absolute ice age, bring everything at differing times, and forget stuff. The total result is a cold burger, followed 10 mins (and three requests) later with poutine that is hotter than the sun. Unfortunately, this sucky service puts a big black mark across the food. I doubt that the chef likes his burgers to be cold at the table, unless that is the Canadian style of serving them? Definitely give it a go, as you can get a really good burger for much less than the fancy boys. Just keep on top of the wait staff and get your food out at the same time - hot. Maybe sit up by the pass at the high tables, so you can be all over them. One last brownie point; they have an excellent selection of beers, and on Tuesdays, you can add HKD3 with any beer purchase for buffalo wings - get out the blue cheese!

They kicked off the holiday buffet early this year (in November), and the vibes are really cool, lots of neon lights and beautiful Christmas decor right at the entrance. The food quality is unbelievable. We actually had a hard time deciding what to grab first! * Seafood: The selection is luxurious. They have an expensive cold seafood tower, fresh lobster, sashimi, sea cucumbers, shrimp, and fish. * Meat Station: The variety is unimaginable. They have everything from Spanish hams and roasted beef to Japanese BBQ meats and Tandoori chicken. * Noodles: Don't skip the noodle station; the Hong Kong noodles and Singapore Laksa were great. The dessert station is so expansive I can't even remember all the selections, but I stuck to the Chinese desserts and loved the egg tarts and the grass jelly with red bean. Service was super attentive the whole night. Pro-tip: We bought our buffet tickets on the KKday app and got a 15% discount. Definitely check there before you book!

The staff were responsive to emails that were sent prior to my visitz in regards to their menu and our allergies/dietary restrictions. The restaurant does not require any deposit unlike most other hotel restaurants. Verandah is located on the second floor of the hotel and all the space is pretigious leading to the restaurant. Checking in at the front desk was a breeze and we were immediately informed that the head chef will be coming out himself to speak to us. We were given a very informative and individual tour of the buffet area and went through all the items offered so that we could be cautious due to potential allergies. Chef was extremely professional and welcoming, fluent in both Cantonese and English. After our meeting with the chef we were lead to our table. The tables are spaced very comfortable apart from others, which is absolutely amazing. The service was provided by a main server and two other assistants. We definitely felt like royalty while dining here. The price to dine at Verandah may be one of the most expensive if not the most expensive hotel dinner buffet in Hong Kong. My dining companion and I felt that the price is very well worth the entire dining experience by the end of the night. Not only can you take your time graciously choosing items you want to devour, and enjoying it at your own pace at the dinner table, but also get top notch attentive service that doesn't feel over the top. The servers have absolutely mastered the art of looking after their guests in a manner that does not feel intrusive and they are able to pick up details quickly. The dinner napkin is looked after and folded neatly every single time you leave your seat. The chair is always pushed in for you when you take your seat. The drinks are always refilled. The table is always cleaned after each plate you enjoy. The food is always replenished when at item is taken by a guest. The plate is carried to your table if you need help. The servers are always on top of the game whenever you need them. The dinner buffet includes one coffee or tea in its price but unlimited rounds to their buffet area which includes everything you can imagine. Think sushi, sashimi, a raw bar, chilled seafood (lobster conch, abalone, etc), salads, soups, and world cuisine (we had both hot and cold items from Japan China, India, Italy, France and more). All of the food we had were delicious. The desserts included items like Crepe Suzette, ice cream, mousse cakes, cheesecakes, and even handcrafted chocolate (yes, the Peninsula is known for their house chocolate). What was also a nice touch to our dinner was having a view to a light show facing the harborfront in Tsim Sha Tsui. Whether you're looking to celebrate a special occasion or just wanting to enjoy one of the best dining experiences in Hong Kong's prestigious hotel, Verandah is absolutely stunning. Tip: dress for the occasion because it is special in all forms.

You get 360 views of the city and the restaurant actually rotates! It's trippy at first, and I got lost multiple times trying to go back and forth from the buffet, but I could use the extra steps considering how much I ate. The food selection was massive, so there's no way I could write them all but here were some of my notes and things I'd get again: - Made to order grilled beef: really good, we asked for it rare since it's thin - Lobster with cheese was good: They had cold lobster and crab too but it wasn't super fresh to us and was a little watery. - Handmade dim sum: get the XLB and har gow - Roasted meats: Goose, roasted pig. The skin on the roasted pig was to die for. Perfectly thin and crispy - Prime rib: Good but a little over cooked for my liking - Sashimi and sushi: Really good quality - Fried ice cream: Very unique... kind of like the rolled ice cream. - Mango pudding: yum! - Butterfly cookies: I think they won some awards for these and it shows! We had a great time and enjoyed our experience here. They had a special baked Alaska show at 8pm, that wasn't super cool to be honest. I will say it is pretty pricey, but if you eat a lot of seafood, you will get your moneys worth.

The name is as literal as can be, as…read moreHarbourside sits on the Kowloon side staring at one of the most stunning views of the Hong Kong skyline (as is the rest of the Intercontinental). From a food front, the spread is luxurious as it is enormous. The variety is a bit dizzying and completely overwhelming for the average hungrier than life patron. At $500-900HKD, it's almost hard to see where the value lies. Is it the ambiance (which is breathtaking), the service (which is superb), or the quality of the food (which is good for a buffet)? I'd have to say it's a little bit of everything. If all you can eat in an high end setting sounds appealing to you, then this is one of the better hotel buffets in Hong Kong. The seafood selection is the place where most folks tend to get the most bang for their buck. From mussels, clams, prawns, and limited oysters, there is also snow crab legs and lobster claws. Occasionally there are whole crabs and lobsters, which usually taste like they've been frozen. The sushi is an easy skip, due to the terrible presentation and slim cuts, but the sashimi, particularly the salmon, is quite good. There is also a decent variety of smoked salmon, which seems to be one of the most popular items in any HK buffet. The Italiano section features various breads, cold cuts, and cheeses. There is a pasta station, but it's closer to the middle where the hot foods are prepared. The dried fruits selection is nicely paired with the various cheeses ranging from gruyere to bleu. This area is not particularly impressive on its own, but decent for variety's sake. Hodgepodge is the best way I can describe the hot foods area. Random foods from a featured cuisine of the month (in my case, it was Korean), along with Dim Sum during lunch time, and various cuisines that span from Indian to Continental. There is also a carving station with trio of meats (ham, lamb, beef) as well as a "you make it" wonton noodle station. Big ups to the truffled potato mash, that was probably my favorite savory side dish there. Desserts are usually my least favorite portion of any buffet, but they do a good job showcasing some serious variety here. There are pastries, fresh fruits, candied pieces, a macaron tower, and even a fondue fountain. That's not to say that all sweet tooths will be conquered, this is Asia after all. Having been to a fair number of hotel buffets in Tsim Sha Tsui, I can safely attest that Harbourside is indeed among the better ones. For the variety alone, it's a glutton's paradise but the view is virtually unbeatable. I'm already looking forward to my next visit.

There is an option for free flow Champagne (Perrier Jouet) for about $858HKD plus 10%. Having been here on numerous occasions for my share of boozy brunches, I feel the quality of the food has gone down in the recent year. A lot of people love having the lobsters and the cold seafood bar. The bar in my most recent visit seems a bit messy and not as much variety of the types of seafood begin offered. The staff here are always very pleasant. There are servers walking around with bottles and bottles of champagne ready to top you up before you're on empty. They keep the bubbles coming so you don't even think about eating the food? That seems to be a tactic that worked on me. I didn't notice the downfall of the food until my buzz wore off. The brunch is one of the longer ones compared to other places. You can be seated starting 11:30 and the last drop of bubbly would be poured into your glass at 3:00. The cost of the buffet also covers you a drink at the end of your meal should you want a latte or tea to finish you off.
