At $500-900HKD, it's almost hard to see where the value lies. Is it the ambiance (which is breathtaking), the service (which is superb), or the quality of the food (which is good for a buffet)? I'd have to say it's a little bit of everything. If all you can eat in an high end setting sounds appealing to you, then this is one of the better hotel buffets in Hong Kong. The seafood selection is the place where most folks tend to get the most bang for their buck. From mussels, clams, prawns, and limited oysters, there is also snow crab legs and lobster claws. Occasionally there are whole crabs and lobsters, which usually taste like they've been frozen. The sushi is an easy skip, due to the terrible presentation and slim cuts, but the sashimi, particularly the salmon, is quite good. There is also a decent variety of smoked salmon, which seems to be one of the most popular items in any HK buffet. The Italiano section features various breads, cold cuts, and cheeses. There is a pasta station, but it's closer to the middle where the hot foods are prepared. The dried fruits selection is nicely paired with the various cheeses ranging from gruyere to bleu. This area is not particularly impressive on its own, but decent for variety's sake. Hodgepodge is the best way I can describe the hot foods area. Random foods from a featured cuisine of the month (in my case, it was Korean), along with Dim Sum during lunch time, and various cuisines that span from Indian to Continental. There is also a carving station with trio of meats (ham, lamb, beef) as well as a "you make it" wonton noodle station. Big ups to the truffled potato mash, that was probably my favorite savory side dish there. Desserts are usually my least favorite portion of any buffet, but they do a good job showcasing some serious variety here. There are pastries, fresh fruits, candied pieces, a macaron tower, and even a fondue fountain. That's not to say that all sweet tooths will be conquered, this is Asia after all. Having been to a fair number of hotel buffets in Tsim Sha Tsui, I can safely attest that Harbourside is indeed among the better ones. The staff here are always very pleasant. There are servers walking around with bottles and bottles of champagne ready to top you up before you're on empty. They keep the bubbles coming so you don't even think about eating the food? That seems to be a tactic that worked on me. I didn't notice the downfall of the food until my buzz wore off. The brunch is one of the longer ones compared to other places. You can be seated starting 11:30 and the last drop of bubbly would be poured into your glass at 3:00. I've only been here once for a friend's birthday dinner, and it was a more than satisfying buffet. The selection of food was great - to start with, I made multiple trips to the salad bar and had loads of salmon - both the smoked salmon and the sashimi. The salmon sashimi was really fresh and I probably ate more than ten pieces! There was pan-fried goose liver as well, which was absolutely divine - it was just melt-in-your-mouth goodness. There was also this baked potato with a layer of melted cheese as well, which was really good too but would've been better if it was hot instead of just warm. I've never really been the kind of person to eat a lot of the mains at a buffet, but this was an exception - the roast beef was really, really good. It was nice and tender and the gravy that came it just brought out its flavor even more! There was a pasta bar as well, where I opted for farfalle in cream sauce with mushroom and bacon. The portion for this was quite small so I actually went back for seconds. They had a pretty good variety for dessert too. There was Haagen Dazs, which frankly speaking is already enough to satisfy me! The chocolate cake was a little dry, but the coffee pudding was great. There was a chocolate fountain too, but unfortunately they had run out of marshmallows and strawberries (it was well past eleven by then) so I could only have it with melon. I would definitely recommend Cafe One for a decent hotel buffet. Conveniently located at Nathan Road near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, we decided to have our final meal in Hong Kong at Daikiya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very solid all-you-can-eat option with two thick notebooks of pictured items to choose from. The raw and the cooked, the fish and the meat, the meal and the dessert... Sashimi - The usual suspects abound (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc.), but they also have hokkigai (surf clam), amaebi (sweet shrimp), Hokkaido hotate (scallop), and nishin (Japanese herring with roe). Served on a bed of ice and decorated with artificial flowers, each platter was well-plated... and delicious! Nigiri - There are plenty of winners here, but let's focus on the one that topped the list - Grilled Scallop with Crab Oil and Garlic. Seared enough to give that burnt flavor, dabbed with crab oil, then topped with roasted garlic... Need I say more? This was the highlight of our meal and, yes, my younger daughter and I had this over and over and over! Worthy runners-up - Grilled Flatfish and Prawn with Black Fish Roe. Rolls - An assortment of maki (sushi roll), temaki (hand roll), gunkan-maki (ship roll), and sashimi rolls was on the menu as well, but we were able to try only a few. The Mango and Soft-Shell Crab Roll was too small and had more cucumber than anything else. There simply were better options to be had. Grilled - Surf and Turf! Shrimp, scallop, oyster, lamb chop, beef, chicken, pork, and even pineapple. The best dish was the Sautéed Diced Beef with Garlic. Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium, these beef chunks were so tender and tasty! Dessert - Gotta save room for some (or all) of these - mochi, macaron, ice cream, tiramisù, brownie, crème brûlée, fruit, nut, and so on. We indulged in their special Milk Top, which had a limit of one flavor per person. We tried the Romantic Moment and Green Tea Harmony, which had soft-serve ice cream, red bean/paste, mochi balls, jellies, and rice crispies. The only way to cap off an AYCE! After restocking on calories, we were ready to head back to the hotel and then to HKIA. Daikiya was just what the doctor ordered to fill up our bellies before leaving. You have a selection of pretty much everything for breakfast, ranging from pastries to chinese food to western breakfast to multiple different kinds of fruit juices. I always think it's nice when you have a wide variety of fruit juices. My personal favorite, though it's not terribly original, was probably the noodle station. I unfortunately can't give 5 stars because I found a hair in my food (it wasn't mine, as I have short hair; this was a long hair from a woman most likely), but everything overall tasted pretty good.
