Cute exterior

A good burger is a hard find in HK despite the numerous burger joints around. A lot of the places are soulless and lack love. That is not something you can say about the burgers at Electric Avenue. So after reading about this place on one of my fav food blogs in HK FYN (may offend, you've been warned), the amazing burgers and especially the 5 hr bone marrow fries (and likelihood of selling out), I decided to make a trip down there after heavy gym session (to be calorie neg obviously) and bring a few friends. So the few friends turned into 10 of us (no one ever says no to trying a burger joint), and to ensure we will all get our fries/burgers, the crazy foodie in me messaged days ahead and the owner promised that there will be enough fries for us all (yes I am cray). So we all streamed in at around 9.30pm, pretty much filled the place, heard the good news that Electric Avenue received its liquor licence that day, ordered the first (of many) round of beers and variety of burger/fries combinations. So there were beef, chicken cabonara, 5 hour bone marrow fries and chili con carne fries. I personally got the chicken cabonara (2nd last one) and 5 hr fries. The burgers took a while but that's cos I know lots of love (and ingredients) goes into making each one. Be patient, don't be grumpy, good things happen to those who wait. Once my glorious chicken cabonara burger arrived with the runny egg, bits of smoked ham, plentiful of melty cheese and tender chicken, well, I was a happy girl. The fries. Oh glorious fries.... fried to perfection with a side of homemade tomato sauce (or ketchup the Americans would call it), obviously those who ordered after me tucked right into my fries (it's ok, I ate theirs after). Words can't really describe how great it was, I need to go back and have the beef burger, if you haven't tried, you really should.

Very down to earth place. The beef burger coupled with chili chips was totally mouth watering. A tiny yet cozy restaurant well worth to pay a visit.

Three of us ordered : the full slab of pork rib, the Number 88 burger, and a Hawaiian pizza…read more We took home one slice of pizza, the fries from the ribs, and about half a slab of ribs. We devoured the rest. The pizza was yum. For what you can find in HK, this was a good one. Cheese and tomato sauce tasted like Stateside pizza on a cracker-like crust. The ribs were falling off the bone. One quarter of the ribs was more bones than meat, kinda sad. The burger is as tall as ones head. We shared it , but I was the one who ate most of it. It's really a burger to be eaten in layers or with an unhinged jaw.

If you do not know how to go to this place, notice that it is located right next to Butterfly On Hollywood Boutique Hotel. It is just around the corner. This is an Italian restaurant and its burgers taste like heaven! I have to say that it is among the same level as the Burgeroom in Causeway Bay but slightly fancier than just a burger joint. Since its alcohol license is still under application period. You can now bring your own drinks. (7-11 is just close by if you don't mind people looking at you weird). The interior design is rather cozy with red bricks on the wall and wooden stools next to the bar. It is definitely a nice place to chill with your friends and colleagues. On the menu there are over a dozen of different burgers and the price range is between HKD$100 to HKD$200. At first I was rather taken back by the price but after trying it I would say I was rather pleased with it. I tried the Number 1 Burger mainly because I did not want to spend that much and I was not sure about its quality since it was new. It was made of Wagyu beef, cheese and relish. Later it was served on a rather huge chopping board and I was surprised how big this burger was! The paddy was juicy and very thick with nice tenderness. The buns were too very delicious. Overall I am definitely coming back in a month to try out other dishes!

Now I am a pescatarian and thus cannot even speak to the heart of Chef's Choice business…read moremodel...meat! Chef's Choice is part high end butcher, part deli, part wine store, part all things meat. I actually go in to get a mediterranean sandwich (all veggie on a fresh baguette) and a cup of soup to take home. They are always really fresh, flavorful and hot. The carrot soup last night was really delicious! They do not have any place for you to sit and eat, but it is a order and take away spot. Whether you are looking for some good cuts for a BBQ or a weekly delivery of chicken/salmon filet/beef, Chef's Choice seem like a prime spot to pick up your proteins. They have a fresh case of meats and there is also some they have prepared and prepackaged up for take away in their frig. Go grab a sandwich one day and try them out for yourself.

If you can spring for it the NZ lamb chops are great. I usually end up ordering from their sandwiches though. The Cubano is surprisingly good and the mustard they put in it makes it almost authentic. Their Philly, however is not authentic but a pretty decent steak sandwich with cheese. I've had their hot dogs as well, which are pretty good too. The Bacon-Jack is pretty self explanatory bacon with pepper jack and tasty.

Okay, okay. I've changed my mind. I tried Peppa's Shroom burger (beef patty, pepper jack cheese,…read moresauteed mushrooms, sausage gravy, truffle mayo, red onion, and lettuce) and though it was extremely messy there are no regrets putting all of it in my mouth. The cook this time was on point, serving me a juicy patty that mixed with all the above flavours. Also, their milkshakes are very good. I loved the strawberry, and they even have one that's just banana, which makes my husband quite happy.

Came here for a dinner, and did some research beforehand, so I did go for the shake combo…read more I would however say that the shakes literally aren't anything too special, they're nice and thick, but it definitely does bug me that they used UHT milk. As for burgers, I had the "trailer trash burger" and that was really good. I appreciate the very light brioche bun that they used, though coating it in flour for a burger seems like a pretty bold move. The slaw was nice and crunchy, which added to the mushy texture of their chilli, and the beef patty, while small according to some yelper's standards seem reasonably sized considering the price and where you are geographically (Beef is really expensive here). The fries were crunchy and well seasoned. I did also grab a few fries from my friend's order of chilli fries, and while the chilli tastes nice, you can really taste the lack of Cajun spices. I also feel slightly betrayed that they used velvita instead of cheddar despite calling it cheddar chilli fries. Otherwise, this place is great, and I'd definitely come again, though I might just have a regular Soda the next time around.
