I have been here for breakfast/lunch/afternoon tea dim sum, causal dinner, and banquets for birthday/anniversary celebrations. I have bought takeout a few times as well. They have really good deals for dim sum during breakfast and afternoon tea hours, plus seasonal promotions. They also offer 10% off for takeout. Containers/utensils would cost extra, which was common in HK. If you make a dinner reservation for HKD 5000+, you can get a room. Unlike a lot of the other restaurants in Olympic City, they don't usually offer discounts for residents in nearby apartments, though. They're quite pricey compared to nearby restaurants but quality has been mostly consistent and they use high quality ingredients. Service is always attentive (probably because my family are regulars), except on really hectic days around major holidays, such as mid-autumn festival. Their menu items are highly customizable, too. If you want to switch to a different vegetable, or a different sauce, or if want your vegetables to be cooked softer, etc., they're always happy to accommodate your requests.

But a couple of years ago, it closed down and was replaced by another restaurant - and with that, our fortnightly, if not weekly, visits to Sharks' Fin City ended right then and there. Fast forward a couple of years: I'm talking to my mother and suddenly bring up the fact that we haven't been to Sharks Fin City in ages, and that there must be another one maybe in Kowloon or New Territories. I did a quick search on Google and found that the only one remaining is at Olympic City, and that it's been rebranded to 'Tang Xin Xuan', or 糖心轩 in Chinese. I've since been here a couple of times, and nothing much has changed; there are still chandeliers hanging from the ceiling and televisions permanently set on TVB, and the waiters and waitresses' uniforms are still the same. The purple and gold color theme of the restaurant still stands, and is evident from the menus and the wet tissue packet that looks like they did eight years ago. The food, just like I remembered it, generally doesn't disappoint. We order pretty much the usual fare of dimsum, like shrimp dumplings, shrimp rice rolls, meatballs with bean curd sheets, etc. We also get the mini sharks' fin in chicken soup. Even though it's called 'mini', I think the portion is just right for lunch. I like to have mine with rice, so it fills me right up. The food here is great and the portions are decent too. The service here is good - waiters are polite and the food comes quickly. We usually come at around 2pm because that's when their half price for dimsum promotion is in force, and it never is very crowded. But today, we had to wait more than fifteen minutes for a table! It might be because it is the summer holidays now, so that makes sense for the restaurant and Olympian City to be busier than usual. After a satisfying lunch here, I normally cross the bridge to go back to the MTR station and walk through to Olympian City Phase 2 to proceed with some shopping. Phase 1, where the restaurant is, is about 70% tuition centers, so nothing much to see here!

The restaurant was full with a short five minute wait at noon on a weekday.

It is like a suburban "Venice" untouched by time. Minus the nasty pigeon poop on San Marcos Square, and US$20 cappucinos and $50 Bellini's. And probably one of the last surviving parts that are still doing a few things the old school way. If you think sun drying clothes is a bit too old world, then your nose may be offended when you smell the pungent dried and fermented shrimp blocks and shrimp pastes when you walk to the factory shops that sell this stuff! Salted fish has nothing on dried and fermented shrimp condiment. Vietnamese fish sauce comes close in that precious flavor profile. Ditto for Vietnamese style fermented fish flavoring used to season pork blood cubes. So if you are into that stuff, chances are you might appreciate fermented shrimp products here and feel right at home. So this restaurant eatery 大澳橫水渡小廚 in Tai O is much like most other places that offer home local style cooked food and dishes. It's not the best looking, but it can be quite remarkable if you know what to order. So much to eat so little time. Ended up braving this place and tried something very fermented, salty, proteiny, and carby. 咸鮮籠仔荷葉飯 (Ham seen lung hai hor yeep fan) 咸鮮 = salted freshness. Basically sun dried salted seafood 籠仔荷葉飯 = rice steamed in lotus leaf, in a bamboo steamer But what they actually put in we were quite surprised with What appeared to be pork jowl/pork cheek/pork neck, dried white fishlings, scallions, and of course fermented shrimp paste (and maybe some cooked/melted fermented shrimp block), and a believe a little bit of squid tentacles. The ingredients are not expensive, although this steamer cost HK$118 which a tad high. But you are getting an original taste of the land. This feeds 6 nicely if you are ordering a variety of dishes to try. Otherwise even one order split across 4 people is more than enough. The food there is fresh, tasty, and plentiful. It really tastes and feels like you're sitting in someone's kitchen, getting meals prepared by a friend's auntie. It simply succeeds in all categories from good service, excellent surroundings, a professional ethos throughout to tasty and well prepared food. The porcelain teapots carrying hot water are coloured differently from the porcelain teapots carrying Chinese tea which is a pleasant practical touch. The highlights of the food has to be their dessert including the Malaysian cake which is spongy and fragrant (but not too sweet), the custard dumpling which wraps warm custard in a translucent layer for a beautiful finish, the lightly fried mantou was suitably tasty and soft and the coconut red bean pudding is a melt-in-the-mouth, silky smooth and all-round delicious pudding - the best I have had of its kind for sure. The steamed taro cake however was admittedly overcooked and dry. The stir-fried singapore-style vegetable and beef noodles were excellently flavoured with the delicate combination of sweet chilli and pepper emmersed in the crunchy texture of vegetables alongside the soft noodles. The fact that when ordering roast duck soup noodles the meat is served on a separate plate from the bowl of noodles is a wise decision as this enables the meat to be provided with maximum taste and accompanying sauce without drowning it in soup. The attention to detail extends to differently shaped plates for the different types of dishes being served. The only little improvements I would make to this restaurant would be to install an escalator as currently a flight of stairs must be climbed in order to enter the dining area which may be troublesome for elderly folk and I would alter the eating bowls being used as they are a little too shallow, reducing your desired ability to gather more of the delicious food and soup into the bowl for your consumption. As a whole, 喜尚嘉喜 provides as good as it gets for having dim sum in Hong Kong; understated from the outside, but simply excelling in delivery of all traditional Chinese standards from the beginning to the end of the dining experience.
