It's situated in Lok Fu although I think it's probably closer to the Kowloon Tong MTR station. Billy Boozer's gets its charm from the fact that it is very close to what was a British Army barracks (Pre handover). It's easy to imagine hoards of British army personnel getting drunk on their night off, I think a few of them might have stuffed their dirty socks down the back of some of the seats giving this place a unique aroma! That being said this place has got real character and it is mainly visited now by students from a local college. There is dart boards and board games should that interest you. They do offer food although I did not order any, however from what I saw it looked decent. It's a English pub in a very strange location in the depths of Kowloon so if you are in the area and looking for an old style slice of nostalgia, Billy Boozers will deliver and probably leave you with a very big hangover!

The Billy Boozer's main clientele at one point in time had been British army servicemen stationed nearby at Kowloon Tong barracks (just across the road) and you can tell from the distinct design of the bar that this place would have been well suited to receive such guests. Times have changed and the soldiers have left- the replacement clients now are mainly university students from the nearby universities ( BU and CUHK) which means this place is now even more packed than it used to be. You will find that they haven't really done much to spruce up the place and it does give you a bit of a dingy feeling. However, given the fair prices for beer towers (can't really remember how much) and the proximity to universities nearby you will always have students flooding in. As "European" as the bar is you will find dice games are played all round- local and exchange students alike and there is a section devoted to two darts machines out the back which tells you this place is more for fun and games than a quiet chat. I guess if you were looking for a quiet chat you wouldn't be coming here anyways. I hear that food is served here but have never tried it and neither would I recommend any one to. As a dark, dingy and small place to get completely plastered with your mates- you can't beat it!

Is this another gwai lo bar taking over the local grime and pubs from yesteryear? Since I lived right around the corner, I figured it was important to see what the deal was. Here's the deal: This place is awesome and over the past 2 years, I've become a regular. Of the M1 nightlife establishments, Nathan Left is certainly the most unique. The exterior features a classic Hollywood marquee sign, along with open door seating at their downstairs pub where there is just enough room for people to enjoy a view out on the street while drinking a pint. The second floor, where a majority of the people are is stunning from a decor standpoint. It is mainly a lounge with very contemporary decor pieces and dynamic ones that change in from night in to night out (depending on their theme) along with tables, a stage, a classy bar, and a performing stage. Hidden in the back are pool tables, a karaoke room, and even beer pong. When I say I was blown away by the place, I was even more taken aback when I came back on different nights and the interior was transformed. One night was for a movie night and it was 1920s flapper party and the next night it was b-boys, big beats, and a hell of a hip hop night. For most other nights, it's a showcase of some of the best Filipino cover bands one can find. The menu is mainly a mix of western food, which like any M1 spots are typically grossly overpriced and typically mediocre. I was however, impressed at some of the items, such as their "wurst" sausage variety, and even their $650HKD steak which was exactly how I wanted it -- medium rare. Even I was surprised when I found their hamburgers and pizza to be strangely tasty. Despite all of this, I'd still opt for their drinks more than anything. The drinks are standard, but well done. There is a pretty solid selection of whiskey, and some beers on tap. It's not the most extensive selection of alcohol by any means, but it'll more than do the job for people who can order typical cocktails. The staff is young, professional, and very multilingual. My first few visits here were taken care of by Jordan, who despite looking like a fella from Ireland, was in fact a Hong Kong native and mercilessly trolling folks with his flawless Cantonese. The same for the gorgeous Zasha, who served every drink with a smile. Or absurdly friendly Jerome, who knew exactly how to get the party started. Finally, the manager Tony would give a hearty handshake to his regulars every time they entered / exited the joint. It seems like a moot point by now, but this really was my nightlife home away from home. It was a fun occasion any night of the week, a great place for a date, group fun, or a solo drinking session. And finally, an awesome place to listen to quality music and indulge in great company.

The real reason to come, however, are the cover bands. This bar makes more than adequate use of its upstairs space to host spectacular cover bands that will truly play you any song in the world. It could've been more acidic, and had more cucumber, but otherwise it was a nice effort, considering how Greek yogurt is hard to come by in Hong Kong. I the Hawaiian and Supreme pizza are okay. The Supreme pizza had a strange bitterness to the crust, but the Hawaiian pizza was quite good, soft crust, flavourful toppings and stringy cheese. The jalapeno cheddar fries were crunchy, but the use of those individually vacuum packaged "cheddar" that they sell on at grocery stores and try to pass off as "cheese" really let the dish down. I mean sure, it's not a particularly expensive item, but people like their cheddar fries a bit gooey, not slimy. The potato skins were good, with just enough toppings to match the potatoes. They also used proper cheese cheddar cheese (strangely enough), so I was pleasantly surprised by it. I like how this location is much more spacious than their other Wan Chai locations, while still maintaining the same mid-range prices on drinks. Having brewed in-house craft beers is a huge plus for this place, but it seems that the brews just need to be polished a bit more before they can be truly great.

The pork knuckles are definitely its signature dish here (of course it is slightly pricier than having than in Germany); however, the sausage platters to me seem rather ordinary and quite disappointing frankly speaking as people keep saying how good German sausages are, not here unfortunately. The scallop soup is very creamy and delicious as well. As for drinks, the last time I went there unfortunately I was kind of ill so I did not order beer, however I ordered one Mango whatever that does not have alcohol, while my friends ordered draughts of beers... bravo... the beer here generally is rather nice and not too strong flavoured so it is great for people who cannot drink that much. Also if it is your friend's birthday, please be prepared that the lead singer will sing him/her a happy birthday song. I am not a fan as it is rather embarrassing, but the atmosphere is definitely very cool (after a few glasses). Not that it will be full-house but more to do with the fact that you may not be able to watch the live band perform if you just walk-in as you will be sent to the farthest table and you can barely hear what they are singing.
