I didn't get to try their food but I did get to sample their extensive booze list. They've got a fantastic collection of wines and some of the most creative cocktails. Like the Tap Sonic, one of the most stunning drinks I've ever seen. It's a floral G&T, flavoured with elderflower, and has actual frozen flowers inside the ice cubes. Or China Trap House, a fruity green tea infused drink served in a traditional Chinese bowl. They even put effort into their mocktails, like the Music Tower, which has fresh pineapple strips stacked on top, looking like some kinda french fry Jenga game. All were absolutely delicious and will set you back around HKD $100-150. The main attraction is the live band. Yes, they were fantastic musicians. Yes, they've got a great playlist that mixed the new and the old, all with their own twist. But they were also super interactive and gave people shout-outs and took song requests. The wine selection is great and the staff are great in recommending options if you're not sure what you're looking for. The cocktails are also expertly mixed which is always worth a star or two in my books. The food is also really good! I tried the truffle pizza, truffle fries, and Caesar salad, and they were definitely finger-licking good! What brings all this goodness together is the live music. When we visited, it consisted of a jazz singer and an accompanying pianist. They performed combinations of Chinese and western jazz, and also took requests from the audience. Being an amateur pianist myself with an expert ear for good music, I have to say it doesn't get much better than this if you're looking for a place to relax with friends or that significant other. The furniture does look like it's been free-cycled, so beware, some of them have pretty sharp springs and things sticking out of them. The overall theme, to me, is The Nautilus. There are curved panels "cut" into the walls, with port holes decorating them. Even the front door is curved with a port hole. You are basically in an old school fantasy submarine, but just not under the sea. Food and drinks are available. Drinks menu is extensive (we're talking a variety of Absinthes extensive), and they have a decent selection of Scotch. It's not cheap, at most spirits starting above HKD100. They often have live music up in front of the bar, which is fine, but I think having a band in this sort of vintage parlour ruins the authenticity and look of Salon No.10. What they should do with that space is put in more taxidermy.

Portion is huge, and taste is good. They also didn't remind us for complimentary tea or coffee. By the time we finished, there were lots of people for afternoon tea or drinks. Follow up with the complaint on the service and the preparation food time, the manager invited us back to the Lobby Lounge for afternoon tea. This time by far way better than yesterday lunch experience. The table was set up properly with 6 seats. The manager also serves us personally during the whole time. We feel welcome this time. Lobster Bar is special. Not only is it located in Island Shangri-La hotel (which screams high end customer service), but Lobster Bar takes unique great pride in their establishment as a Taj Mahal of crafted cocktails in Hong Kong. A friend of mine back in Las Vegas told me that this bar was on a Top 10 list she recently read about. Being a full time martini drinker who takes a vacation from my beverage of choice in the summer time, I was blown away by my experience with their crafted cocktails at Lobster Bar last night. The ambiance of the Lobster Bar that spills into the well-appointed Lobster Grill is welcoming. Light blues, detailed stained glass windows, hard woods, maroons, great lighting...everything is there to enjoy your time at the bar or in one of their comfy couches. After ordering our two drinks, be prepared for a little wait time. Not because the bartender is busy with throngs of customers, but because of the time, care and preparation that goes into making these special concoctions. Really quite special a special craft. We enjoyed a Genever Smash and a Lemon Sherbet Bishop. Order a drink, take a sip and then ask to relook at the drink menu to see the ingredients. The ingredients and flavors come to life when you see them and then consume them at the same time. I realize that booze is a time old tradition shared by millions across the world. Lobster Bar is special and a twist to this tradition. You can get a drink anywhere, but do yourself a favor and go to Lobster Bar and order one of their crafted cocktails.
