Birds of a Feather....of course!
Renni G.

There is no shortage of bars in this town, but bars with a unique twist, the right ambiance and a of course delicious drinks are a diamond in the rough with so many in competition! On a lazy, rainy, Hong Kong afternoon hubby and I were in town running errands, and we're not quite ready to call it a day. The Envoy had been on my list of places to try for a while so it seemed like the perfect opportunity. Located in Central, on the third floor of the Pottinger Hotel, this unsuspecting bar is quite cozy and perfect from afternoon libations to happy hours and beyond! Their drinks are sure to get some serious insta-worthy attention! Who can resist sipping out of a glass-bird's bum tail feather?!? Or how about an adorable shaped owl glass?? We both enjoyed their Does it Burn drink because we love a good bourbon! This one had to have been out favorite. Their only fail was serving hubby's Mai Tai in a tall, straight, glass when we expecting a wooden tiki cup! But I won't hold it against them because Hubby said it was the best Mai Tai he's had in HK so far! Naturally, you're gonna shell out a few extra Honkies because of its location, but still I'd gladly go back because they know how to make great drinks and it's a prime location! Just don't forget your camera...and wallet!

Envoy has been opened for about 2 years, located in The Pottinger Hotel on Stanley Street. I've been coming here since they opened and would have to say it's a good place to bring visitors and guests, as Envoy serves cocktails that are a bit different than the average lounge / bar with cocktail glasses shaped like a bird, owl, etc. The bartenders here are knowledgeable and would be to recommend you with cocktails carter to your taste buds. The food here are just okay, but drinks are worth a try. Weekends here are a bit packed, but it's great to come here on a weekday to just kick back and relax.

If you've ever been to The Envoy for a quick pre-dinner drink you will have smelt the delights of those dining there. I decided to take my mum as a treat whilst she was in town as they have a spectacular cocktails to choose from. Unfortunately the kitchen was under refurbishment when we went, but they offered a very small menu of truffle fries, truffle spring rolls and anti pasti. We ordered them all (we were hungry after an eventful afternoon of shopping). Each dish was delicious, although the spring rolls were a little oily for us. The winner had to be the anti pasti. The bread itself was crunchy yet soft and the meat tasty and full of flavour. To add to this, they have an insane cocktail menu from alcoholic lai char to childhood favourites of coke floats with an alcoholic twist. We opted for a lime sherbet fizz. It was unreal. I will definitely be back to sample their full menu.

Cosy new alfresco rooftop (on 3 floor if I can remember correctly) inside the new pottinger hotel. Very conveniently located in central and a nice relaxed environment for a drink. No view but pleasant, classic contemporary setting. Extensive drink list and posh crowd. Would come here if you are past going to night clubs and looking for a new spot other than sevva, and other similar spots.

The Envoy has very tasty snacks (beautiful cheese platter and delicious, if inauthentic, salsa), a lengthy list of signature cocktails, and attentive service. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with a very cozy outdoor patio. Highly recommend this spot for evening drinks and light bites!

Love the cocktails there though a tad bit pricey... Outdoor area is nice too as long as no one is blowing cigar smoke in your face

My husband and I went with pretty high expectations, and honestly, it didn't quite live up to the hype. Now let me be clear, the views? Absolutely unmatched. The panoramic city and harbor views are what truly make this place special. And aesthetically, it's definitely Instagram-worthy. But outside of the scenery, everything else fell a bit short. The food and drinks were pretty basic, especially for a spot with such a luxe reputation. One thing I did appreciate was the service and hospitality. It was my husband's birthday, and they kindly gave both of us complimentary shots that tasted like wine, which was a thoughtful touch. Overall, I'd say come for the views and experience, but maybe lower your expectations when it comes to the food and cocktails.

Attended on NYE 2024 entering 2025 the experience can largely be summed up as a disappointing money-grab with food no better than an AYCE buffet and service that was frankly dreadful. First, the booking process was laborious and error-filled despite staying at The Ritz-Carlton. Second, on arrival we were tucked in the back and largely ignored despite a costly "bottomless" champagne package. Third, servers were overworked and sparse, with the lone entree so protracted that we were told Dessert Buffet was going to close before savories even arrived. Finally, forced to leave mere seconds after finishing, we opted against remaining for fireworks. Ozone's apology was to come back for a free drink sometime...from America. Seemingly a partnership, as the Hotel and Bar refer to one another as separate entities, The Ritz-Carlton did try to make up for all this with a free bottle of Champagne delivered to the room but at $450USD for lousy food and dreadful service Ozone is an embarrassment to the Ritz-Carlton Brand.

We decided to check out The Sky Bar. It is located on the 13th floor, and overlooks other restaurants and shops within the mall. So, don't expect an actual "sky" view. The Sky Bar offers a variety of cocktails and mocktails, but limited beers and wines for their All You Can Drink menu. However, it is still a steal! I ordered all of their cocktails, and my favorite was the Nothing (vodka, coconut liqueur, melon liqueur, pineapple juice, lemon juice). My boyfriend ordered rounds of their beer and wine, which were okay. We also ordered the Crispy Calamari Rings with Wasabi Mayo to go with our beverages. Again, it was just okay. It did the job, but nothing spectacular or memorable. I wouldn't recommend it. Lastly, service was extremely slow, especially for having no other customers in the restaurant. It was a bit frustrating consistently trying to find staff members. By no means is this a go-to place, but if you are already in the area and want a place to sit and chill, The Sky Bar is an option, especially for their All You Can Drink menu.

She didn't hover, but came to our table as soon as we make eye contact. I recommend this cocktail spot. We had a good time. Not fit for large/big groups. Perfect for 2-4 friends.

The atmosphere is intimate and fun, making it easy to see why this bar has earned such a strong reputation. Every drink felt like an experience rather than just a cocktail. That said, I was surprised by how aggressively the staff pushed for an additional tip after already adding a service charge to the bill. It felt out of place, especially in Hong Kong where that is generally not the expectation. It honestly felt more like something I would expect in the United States. Overall, the drinks and concept were excellent, but the awkward tipping interaction took away from an otherwise great experience.

Before noticing the Wine-derlust event, I have never wanted to visit WOOBAR because of its location. I'm always lazy to go all the way to Kowloon side just for a drink, not to mention W Hotel is almost only reachable by MTR. It's not a good place for pre-drinks before hitting LKF, nor is it good for a late drinking night as I live on Hong Kong Island. However, spending a night with wide varieties of wine and unlimited cheese sounds good to me. Every Wednesday, WOOBAR has an incredibly good deal priced at $278 per person, including free flow of wine and cheese from 8pm to 10:30pm. You can choose from rosé, white, red, sparkling and more. I usually start my night with a glass of sparkling rosé, which is sweet and appetizing. I like having my wine with nibbles from their cheese and charcuterie selections. My favorite section has to be the fondue table, featuring a warm, aromatic pot of cheese and toasted bread cubes on the side. I could drown in the pool of cheese. Fancy a boozy Wednesday? Visit WOOBAR and indulge yourself in wine and cheese. No one can ever get enough of cheese, no?

The bartenders and Will the manager are fun and friendly, a nice alternative to the bouncer enforcer venues just a few doors down the street. The couches are comfy enough to fall asleep on, which has probably happened to folks who've had one too many to drink.
