Service was quick, but it wasn't all that busy when we arrived and the place was clean. Would certainly return again, the price is right and the food is plentiful.

Sigh, I'm…read morealways going to be a sucker for Korean BBQ but I'm just not hitting it thus far in Hong Kong! I had better luck when I lived in SoFlo! Granted this place is great for large groups and it's very, very inexpensive. But with inexpensive you also get cheaper cuts of meat. Thankfully, you also get to cook the crap out of it. Hey, I never said I won't be a vegetarian by the time we leave Hong Kong! Let's start with the positive side: Hubby and I ate at an all you can eat buffet for around $118HKD or roughly $15USD a piece which is super cheap!! (Not sure how much the tea was but really, you can't get much cheaper for a lunch buffet that I know of. The choices are okay, I wouldn't say extensive by any means. The meat area is all set up in square metal tins in a huge self-serving area. There were huge caldrons of stews and soups which looked good but neither of us tried any of those. And now for the Negative side: While we were immediately seated upon walking in. We couldn't get a server or a menu for a few minutes. We both looked at each other as the serves were rushing by and finally we held up our hand. Maybe they assumed we knew what to do? I guess assumed we were getting the buffet. Once we received the menu and looked it over, we decided to do the buffet. Normally, I really dislike buffets because well, everything is just sitting there starting at you, begging to be taken off the table. But since we were committed and famished, we decided to just go with it. Thankfully, my husband enjoys barbequing...so I never hesitate to take him to eat Korean BBQ. No one in this city cares if you walk around smelling like a BBQ so it's all good! I also really liked that we were able to determine the right amount of "doneness" because some of the meat looked a little sketchy if you know what I mean. As for the taste. Overall, it was just okay. I mean when you're not impressed by much and definitely isn't "Wowing you" it doesn't leave any impression except that it filled us up so we could do our necessary shopping. I don't think it will be on my return radar!

During our stay in March 2024, we enjoyed a 3-day breakfast package before heading out on our side trip, so we had breakfast here for three consecutive mornings. The variety kept the experience fresh and enjoyable. I would rate The Place a solid 4 out of 5 for cleanliness, especially considering the coffee cups and spoons that had room for improvement. The restaurant has a pleasant vibe and is bustling with activity every morning. There's an impressive range of breakfast options, with something for everyone. Some of my personal favorites included congee with green onions and peanuts, egg benedicts with lox, and a build-your-own rice noodle bowl with meatballs and fish balls. However, there were some inconsistencies with the egg station. The egg benedicts on the first day were perfect, but the next day, my order was missing the salmon until I pointed it out to the cook. On the third day, the cook used a torch to brown the eggs, but unfortunately, they were overcooked, which was a bit strange. Despite these minor issues, the variety and overall quality of the food were commendable. What truly stood out during our breakfasts was the exceptional service from Vinod, the restaurant's manager. His very friendly demeanor and great sense of humor really elevated the experience. On the second day, Vinod took the time to come over and chat with us, and by the third day, he remembered our names and engaged with us again. He even offered us pastries to take away, a gesture we truly appreciated. Although we declined, the offer was kind and thoughtful. If you're in a rush, I would recommend grabbing some of their delicious pastries to-go--they're a great option for a quick snack. For Cordis hotel guests who don't have a breakfast package, there's a 15% discount on dining, including at The Place. The buffet is priced at HK$300 (about US$38.70) before any discounts. While the price might be on the higher end, I'd definitely recommend dining here at least once. It's a solid buffet with a wide variety of quality dishes to start your day right.

So much cushion!), but obviously not as spacious. I will say that the food they provide is much better than the Kaminarimon Teppanyaki place I went to. I mean, how can you say no to sesame ice cream?! Some of their sashimi were thick slices though. Usually I prefer thinner ones, but it's still good enough. They have a good variety of items to choose from, and obviously food can come a bit slow, but you can't beat how comfortable it feels in this place compared to all other buffet places. The way you order is simple. They have a booklet with papers ranging from the letters A - J? I don't remember. You just mark the foods you want and throw your hands up in the air sayin' AYOOO (No. Don't do that. It's a joke from part of an American song). But really, you wave a server down with the papers, and they'll take the papers. Some servers will actually say "mm-goi" when they take it! So nice. Drinks, you go grab them yourself from the fridge. Wild! So much options! Ice cream is located near the bathroom. Oh. They had this Hokkaido Milk(?) Pudding. It. Is. Yummy! I'd eat more of it if I could, but my stomach was already bloating from the amount I ate. Ai ya. And... the later you go eat there at night (before closing), the more percent off you'll get on your check. Let's just say... the comfortable chairs, hokkaido milk(?) pudding, and sesame ice cream made this place 4 stars. That is all.

The decor was nothing fancy, but spacious and comfortable. The buffet was a grand total of $185, with the 10% included. Now, I'm not usually a fan of buffets because I'll be guaranteed to overeat, and my overstuff stomach now is proof. I haven't been to a BBQ buffet ever, but I was quite impressed with the selection. Firstly, we were served tea as promptly as we were seated. The selection of meats ranged from all cuts of beef, chicken, pork, sausages and seafood such as fish, squid, shrimp, cuttlefish. You really couln't complain about the meats selection. The veg selection was much smaller in comparison, I would've loved to see more, but in actuality, I probably wouldn't have eaten that much anyway. The sides selection was quite good. With the Korean sides such as anchovies and beansprouts, but also a few Chinese options like tofu, potatos, chicken feet, noodles and Chinese veg. The desserts were mostly of the traditional Chinese sort - with mango sago, glutinous rice balls, sweet potato soup, grass jelly, and papaya and white fungus. The papaya and fungus hit the right spot for me. I wish I was hungrier as I would have definitely eaten more if I could. By dessert time, I was also feeling a slight discomfort in my stomach, and didn't get to try as many desserts as I'd liked. Everything was good, but the only reservations I had was about some of the meat. It gave me the impression that it may have sat out there for a while, as pools of bloody water was collecting at the bottom. And when we were cooking it, stuff oozed out of it that was indication about their having been defrosted. I avoided the chicken just in case. But in general all their meats were very well marinated. I didn't try their sushi as it wasn't in the prettiest form, but I saw a lot of other guests having them. I'd definitely recommend you go if you're famished, you will get a full belly for sure! But for me, I think I'd rather go to an a la carte place and be sure I'm getting really fresh and premium cuts, and not have the time limit of 1.5 hours to eat (which is plenty really but for a buffet, you feel rushed!)

Yahataya is located on the 10th floor of a complex with tons of other hot pot and sukiyaki restaurants all vying for your attention. My friend and I were attracted to their AYCE (and drink!) deal which allowed us free range of the goods. Depending on the time you start your 2-hours, the price may fluctuate a bit. We came at 16:30 so we received the $180 per head deal for the shabu shabu goodness. Even on a Saturday, it was fairly empty inside with servers that looked nonchalant as they were passing out food to tables. Upon seating, you choose your main stock and have your go at the vegetables and cheaper-meats lying on the counter. There's also soft drinks and beer included in your price. The biggest trick here is that you're supposed to order off the "RicePon' app on your device. WHAT!? It took us about ten minutes before we realized that nobody was going to come to our table until we downloaded the app and ordered online. This explains why the service was pretty meh at the beginning- they don't come to you until you order. Nobody even told us we were supposed to do it this way, and I can speak/understand Canto. The app is fairly straight forwarded and if you can't read Chinese, they have photos associated with a majority of their items. Once you select the premium items including thinly sliced beef and pork, sushi, sashimi, etc. they'll bring them out to your table one by one. We ended up ordering three rounds of meat and seafood for our pot and had a blast. The slices of beef were definitely good and the freedom to order non-meat items made this one for the books. If you're looking for a good shabu shabu spot with minimal staff interaction but plenty of food and drinks, definitely check this spot out.

Conveniently located at Nathan Road near the Tsim Sha Tsui MTR station, we decided to have our final meal in Hong Kong at Daikiya Japanese Restaurant. It's a very solid all-you-can-eat option with two thick notebooks of pictured items to choose from. The raw and the cooked, the fish and the meat, the meal and the dessert... Sashimi - The usual suspects abound (tuna, salmon, yellowtail, etc.), but they also have hokkigai (surf clam), amaebi (sweet shrimp), Hokkaido hotate (scallop), and nishin (Japanese herring with roe). Served on a bed of ice and decorated with artificial flowers, each platter was well-plated... and delicious! Nigiri - There are plenty of winners here, but let's focus on the one that topped the list - Grilled Scallop with Crab Oil and Garlic. Seared enough to give that burnt flavor, dabbed with crab oil, then topped with roasted garlic... Need I say more? This was the highlight of our meal and, yes, my younger daughter and I had this over and over and over! Worthy runners-up - Grilled Flatfish and Prawn with Black Fish Roe. Rolls - An assortment of maki (sushi roll), temaki (hand roll), gunkan-maki (ship roll), and sashimi rolls was on the menu as well, but we were able to try only a few. The Mango and Soft-Shell Crab Roll was too small and had more cucumber than anything else. There simply were better options to be had. Grilled - Surf and Turf! Shrimp, scallop, oyster, lamb chop, beef, chicken, pork, and even pineapple. The best dish was the Sautéed Diced Beef with Garlic. Perfectly seasoned and cooked medium, these beef chunks were so tender and tasty! Dessert - Gotta save room for some (or all) of these - mochi, macaron, ice cream, tiramisù, brownie, crème brûlée, fruit, nut, and so on. We indulged in their special Milk Top, which had a limit of one flavor per person. We tried the Romantic Moment and Green Tea Harmony, which had soft-serve ice cream, red bean/paste, mochi balls, jellies, and rice crispies. The only way to cap off an AYCE! After restocking on calories, we were ready to head back to the hotel and then to HKIA. Daikiya was just what the doctor ordered to fill up our bellies before leaving. We totally enjoyed our stay in Hong Kong, but we had to wrap up our adventure. It was time to say goodbye... for now...
