Share my recent trip to Hong Kong with you. Stayed at The Ritz Carlton and had an amazing high tea time at Cafe 103. They have a limited edition Christmas tea set by Montblanc, and as a Marriott member, I got a 20% discount! You should definitely check it out. Don't forget to make a reservation in advance and remember, it's on the 103rd floor.

Good food and views

I'll be honest, the original reason to come here was to take in the gorgeous views of HK and the harbor. I dined at Cafe 103 (yes on the 103th floor) during lunch hours. It was not busy, though I'm sure it will be for afternoon tea. The food was good not great, very nice interior that spoke posh and contemporary. The staff were all very well dressed and very court and professional. The great thing about Cafe 103, no matter where you are seated at windows, you will be able to take in the amazing, panoramic views of HK. A great way to relax and have a bite to eat.

I had high tea with my friend who lives in Hong Kong on my last day there. We met up at Cafe 103 inside the Ritz Carlton in Kowloon. Each tea set came with smoked salmon in between squid ink bread, foie gras mousse with sweet bun, cucumber & cream cheese finger sandwich, mango mousse verrine, chocolate dried fruit bonbons, chocolate framboise tart, pistachio & caramel financier, chocolate mille-feuille, chocolate orange macaron, chocolate-filled cheesecake, and hot chocolate. Everything was good, but there was a slight overload on desserts over savory items. I would've preferred a good mix of both.

Really come here to be well aloft the Victoria Harbor. Not expecting much from either the buffet or the service. Service is to par but the food is lacking some luster.

Pierre Hermé high tea. Passionfruit theme YUM!

I'm not normally a High Tea kinda guy. But when I'm on the other side of the world visiting a former British colony, one should be open to such experiences! Add to that - it was a special Pierre Hermé themed High Tea, so who could possibly resist? Delicious! Our theme for the day was Passionfruit-infused everything. At first I worried this could be passionfruit overkill, but it wasn't. Everything was balanced and in perfect harmony. Add to this, Café 103's amazing views (floor-to-ceiling windows on the 103rd floor of the ICC building isn't too shabby) makes it a special treat and redefines the "high" in High Tea. During my visit, Tosca (the Italian restaurant downstairs) had a soprano and tenor singing opera during brunch - which was an added bonus to our visit!

Review based on the lunch buffet. Reservations are recommended (and probably required). Made a reservation for a window seat and had to be put on wait list for that even 2 weeks prior. A window seat was provided on the day of the lunch so I guess someone else cancelled. Hence 5 star on dealing with the conceirge for so accommodating. Food was awesome and while selection was limited, everything was prepared as expected of a 5 star hotel. Seafood was fresh, deserts were beautifully displayed. It was hard to get the attention of the waiters however. View was spectacular even with high expectations coming in. Going on weekdays, lunch was 200 HKD cheaper than weekends.

Had a friend visiting from America who really wanted to experience a real high tea. I don't drink tea so was glad they had an alternative which was a hot chocolate. It was nice at first but a bit too sweet after a while. Their tea set is a very good deal with a mix of savoury and sweet options. They make a specialty green tea scone, I wasn't a fan but Lucy loved it. The views were great, especially from the toilets which was a surprise. The service was s little slow for how quiet it was but everyone was very friendly and helpful. Beware: they do change their tea set themes regularly it seems so make sure to check out their website.

***Expensive(HK$500) BUT stunning views and good food*** At HK$500, Cafe 103 might just be one of the most expensive lunch buffets I've had (but not by a big margin though). But the stunning views might justify the price. Food didn't disappoint either . Of course, in order to enjoy that view, it's important to request for a table near the window...while making the reservations over phone . Important to note that Ritz/JW Marriot membership got me a 10% discount (gold level membership might get bigger discount) Coming to the food....some of the STANDOUTS were: - Oysters/Lobsters - Fried Shrimp Rolls - Mini Burgers - Wok Fried Beef with pumpkin and Truffle sauce - Indian Fish Curry - BBQ Pork and Duck The Oysters and Lobsters looked super fresh and they were the first things I pounced on . The FRIED SHRIMP ROLLS were really good! . The outer layer was super crunchy, with the softer shrimp inside it. The Mini Burgers were also good, with the crunchy mini-buns and a beef patty that could've been somewhere between Medium and Well-done. The WOK FRIED BEEF with PUMPKIN and TRUFFLE SAUCE was certainly worth multiple trips. The beef was soft and literally melted in the mouth. The INDIAN FISH CURRY tasted great but some people might want to add just a little bit extra salt. I think they made it that way to suit a the diverse taste-requirements of a large buffet crowd. The BBQ PORK and DUCK had a nice caramelized skin while juicy meat below it. I made sure to pick 1-2 pieces of them each time I got up. The desserts section had a wide variety of cakes, pastries, fruit cups, chocolates, etc. The service was also top class. The staff were attentive enough to suggest I pay with HSBC card as it would get me 10% discount....but then I revealed that I'm also a Ritz Carlton member (same membership number as JW Marriot).... so they suggested I don't need HSBC card because the Ritz membership itself would get me same discount. So I was able to use my other banks card which had Asia Miles linked to them! Without the staff's advice, I wouldn't have known this info.

I am not a big fan of chocolate. But, it was definitely an enjoyable experience. Great view of the harbour and great afternoon tea service! Most items were delicious!

Afternoon tea

First off, the view from the cafe is amazing! We went on a Thursday afternoon so it wasn't too busy and we were able to get some nice pictures by the window. However this didn't make up for the quality of food served in the high tea. In the service platter, there was a layer of savory snacks, one of desserts and the bottom layer had scones. Compared to a high tea service we went to in Toronto, the food was generally lacking. There was only 1 or 2 pieces I really enjoyed having, while the rest were just OK. We had jasmine and oolong tea, of which we really enjoyed the latter. Overall the service was great and you really come for the views, but I would recommend going to a high tea with better ratings on the food if you've already visited places with views in Hong Kong.

The afternoon tea set

I came here with my family to spend a quiet afternoon and to try the high tea here. The variety was not to my likings cause there were too little savoury items compared to the sweet. The sweets were Chocolate focused which I found abit too sweet, if they wanted to do a sweet focused high tea I would suggest to put other sweet flavoured items as the chocolate was just abit too much. The area is not as quiet as you would normally find at high tea places as your pretty much surrounded by the touristy mandarin speaking people which can get quite loud

The Flying Pan - eggs ben with salmon on muffins

Western food! The…read moreflying pan has very reasonable prices, poor coffee, mediocre food, and good service. I ordered the salmon Benedict, Kenzie the pepper and onion Benedict. The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. Unlimited coffee: 35HK. Using a restaurants own WiFi to post a 2 star review about them: Priceless.

I visited the Flying Pan for a quick breakfast before heading off to work, and first impressions…read morewere good- it's a small, but low-key place, and while the menus are a bit much to look at, the food was just right. I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.
