Prudential Hotel was one of my hotels during my 22 day trip to East Asia.
Located on top of Jordan Station, it's easy access to the MTR for those who can brave the sardine crowds. It's also about a 6-8 minute walk to the cross harbour buses at the Labour Tribunal on Gascoigne Road.
The concierge service on the first floor was one of my favourite parts about this hotel; no need to wheel your luggage upstairs or downstairs as someone will do it for you! Drop your luggage to the concierge, then make your way to the second floor service desk.
Since they were doing renovations on some floors, the lower your floor is the more likely you'll hear construction noise past 9am. I highly suggest staying in floors 10 or higher. My first stay I stayed in the 11th floor, then the 12th, but my third stay I stayed in the 5th floor.
There's 4 elevators in the hotel, however if inclement weather hits the middle 2 elevators will not be in operation. This did lead to crowding issues, especially during check-in and check-out times.
The rooms were decent, especially the modernized rooms (presumably ones that were renovated). The lighting and washrooms were brighter, and there's two shower options depending on your preferences. The older rooms on the 5th floor has the shower caps that provided a good massage though since it jets out a lot of water at once.
My stay came with free breakfast, available between 6:30 and 10:30am. Honestly the selections were below average, with most of the food on the cold side. The omelettes and egg options were good though, and I can definitely vouch for that. However, don't go for the milk unless you can tolerate homogenized milk.
Overall it's not the best hotel I stayed at, but you can't beat the location factor here. Walking distance to MTR, Tsim Sha Tsui, and the cross harbour buses. Chances are I'll consider this hotel again next time I'm in HK. read more
