Little Bao is a cute eatery styled restaurant that offers friendly staff, cool drinks, and a unique take on fusion tapas.
We ordered the squid aglio olio (daily special), lamb tartare, Sichuan fried chicken, and the impossible bao. The squid was okay, albeit a bit bland, and while the lamb tartare was good, it didn't taste all that different to a steak tartare, perhaps because both dishes are often quite heavily seasoned. The same can be said about the fried chicken: it was beautifully fried and battered, and while the Sichuan spices were delicious, they sadly dominated the entire dish. While the skin is normally the highlight in fried chicken dishes, it shouldn't eclipse everything else about it.
The impossible Bao was okay, but nothing too remarkable, sadly, though I would be inclined to follow the recommendations of others and try the sloppy Chan the next time around. Truffle fries were good- fragrant, crispy, flavourful.
I would consider giving this place another shot, but with its price range, I'd probably save this for date nights. read more
