This time it was hot, humid, and rainy around 11:20 am and our party of 4 was able to get a table easily though it was crowded again once we were finished. This place is so famous we saw people come straight from the airport with all their luggage! Portions are very good and probably too small for most people but I loved the size. Goose and Soy Sauce Chicken: They are most known for their roast goose which has a complex and layered seasoning different than other HK roast duck/goose places. This is my go to dish, this time it tasted great but my portion of goose was super small and I split it with a friend to not get too full so it was even smaller. We also ordered the same dish with noodles and roast pork with soy chicken, both the people who had this never had Yat Lok before and totally cleared their plates, don't forget to mix each bite with some of the oil scorched green onions!

They are cash only so make sure you have cash if you decide to come. Come early in the morning to avoid crowds, thanks to jetlag getting here at 7:30 was easy and I walked right in. Like many small place in HK expect to share a table if it is packed. Milk Tea: Very simple and traditional, don't expect michelin level taste. It's so good in hot and humid weather. It's brewed right up front using pantyhose as a strainer. Spring onion chicken over dry ramen noodles: The dish they are most known for. This was SO good after a night of drinking and mean whisky breath. The instant noodles are perfectly low-key and great for absorbing all the alcohol. Chicken was delicious and all of it is "activated" by pouring burning oil on the green onions and chicken. Pork Chop Bun: The noodles were enough for me but I really wanted to try this. Tender pork with tomato and mayo in a bun, simple street food that I loved!

Located in the heart of Central, it's a convenient place to stop by if you're going to make the trek up or down Mid-Levels. The location is on a very narrow street where both pedestrians and vehicles are allowed, so be cautious. There is a sign indicating dine-in or carryout at the entrance of the cha chaan teng so be sure not to stand in the wrong line. The cafe inside is very small and crowded whether you go for breakfast or lunchtime. The space is very limited and if you consider yourself taller than the average person in Hong Kong, be very careful when moving through to sit or stand as there are various ceiling heights in the old building. Service is alright and efficient as most HK cha chaan tengs are expected to be however, I didn't like the attitude of one of the servers who brought out my table's meal as it was not what was ordered. She questioned our order and it was very clear that no one in my group ordered it, yet she insisted that we did. After a bit of back and forth, she decided to swap out the meal for the one we actually ordered. The food was A-OK, nothing particularly spectacular. The toasted and buttered bun was decent but didn't have enough butter not toasty char. The macaroni noodle soup was on the bland side. The hot dog and eggs were very typical. The best thing we had were the milk teas. Prices are very normal for Central but would be considered overpriced in other areas of HK. I'm not planning to make a return unless someone requests it specifically or if I only want to grab a milk tea to-go.

Not sure if this is the correct address for LHL or perhaps they moved closer to Sheung Wan station…read more I haven't been back at LHL for over 10+ years... I don't even remember if this was the location but I do remember the old school carts rolling to us and offering the goods, yum cha staples. This visit was seeing my cousins family, whom we haven't seen in over 7 years. Always nostalgic when you combine family and yum cha. Yes, I know LHL has become very touristy. Yes, they don't roll the carts during busy time. Yes, there are better Cha Lau in HK. But... Ling Heung Lau... still delivers. We enjoyed the shrimp balls with "why san" - it's a root that's typically used in soup but in HK, access to fresh ones makes delicious dim sum partnering. I also love their "made to order" churn fun, eggplants, peppers, and dumplings. The offerings is extensive and truly, save space for dessert! This building is huge. You can make a reservation ahead of time, would recommend for big parties.

Back to the actual topic of food though, honestly any dim sum here in HK exceeds Houston by so much that I can't even bridge the gap with words. Portions were larger, dumpling skin was thinner/softer, rice noodle/rolls were silkier, and pork ribs were so damn tender. The flavor of chicken feet done just right. Maybe this is nothing special for those who have regular access to dim sum in HK. For those of us overseas who can only find half decent imitations, Lin Heung Lou is as good as it gets #373

They cook right at the steamy windows and each dish is made to order so its super fresh. Wonton Noodle Soup: It costs a whopping $6 US and the broth and wonton taste super traditional but well executed. I was excited to try Mak's for the very first time. Besides the quick and friendlier service, the space is well air conditioned and while cramped, the pros outweighs any of the cons. The signature wonton noodles were the best I have had and the quality really shows. Each bite of the shrimp wontons tasted crisp and fresh while the delicate wrapper held the full shrimp tightly and neatly. The shrimp itself was cooked to perfection and did not have any mushy texture nor overcooked chew. The noodles were as springy as ever and definitely tasted as much as they were worth. The broth was the clear winner whether or not you're the type to add some red vinegar or not. It is a broth with clear depth and flavor that does not overwhelm the tastebuds, nor send them to monosodium glutamate shock. It was such a great meal, I am already looking to enjoy another bowl sooner than later. And of course, for all the non-seafood lovers out there, the beef brisket noodles are just as worthy. Also, this spot serves free tea, no tea charge!

Western food! The…read moreflying pan has very reasonable prices, poor coffee, mediocre food, and good service. I ordered the salmon Benedict, Kenzie the pepper and onion Benedict. The eggs being over cooked, had a non runny yolk. I ordered sides of baked beans and corn grits which were both fine. Our plates came out with the sides switched up. Not a big deal. Not bad for a western breakfast in Hong Kong. Not great either. I've had better western breakfast in Shanghai, though you would think Hong Kong being the international hub it is, would have even higher standards for western foods. Eggs Benedict: 85HK. Unlimited coffee: 35HK. Using a restaurants own WiFi to post a 2 star review about them: Priceless.

I went with an Eggs Guacamole and a mango juice and I thought it was all pretty awesome overall. The food isn't overly expensive, you get fairly generous portions, and they definitely don't skimp on your free sides. The potatoes were a tad dry and I probably wouldn't go with them the next time around, but their grits aren't half bad. Hollandaise sauce is thick, yet runny, and the eggs were poached perfectly. The guacamole was offered in generous portions, and the only thing that I could possibly say they weren't generous with, in terms of portion size was my juice. That's fine though. I'll definitely be back to try a few other menu items.

Prosciutto Salad: Prosciutto was fresh and good, salad was fresh, and the cantaloupe was really ripe, tasting very sweet. Gluten Free Pasta: Cooked aglio e olio style with garlic and chili. Just the right portion of pasta. Pasta wasn't over cooked and I can taste the delicious flavor of the olive oil, garlic and chili. My favorite and most simple dish. T Bone Steak: Steak was very juicy, tender, and had a good simple salt flavor. Dessert: Raspberry sorbet. Had a good, sweet taste, tasting the raspberry flavor and refreshing after a big, delicious meal. The service was exceptional and I was really impressed about the food quality. My second visit to Gradini was just as good, if not, better than my first visit. It will keep me…read morecoming back for more. The interior decor of Gradini is one of my favorites in HK. So calming with beautiful hints of turquoise, well-suited after a long day of work. Not too dark or dim, and no loud music to talk over. My best friend and I came for dinner on a Thursday night, so the restaurant was not very full at all. The two of us were originally seated at a table for four and considered switching to a smaller table for two in the middle of the room, but thankfully did not, as the supplementary table proved useful when it came to sharing dishes. We ordered the following: 1. Grigliata di polpo con spinaci in balsamico e olio di olive --- Grilled octopus with spinach and citrus slices, in balsamic vinegar & olive oil (HKD158) 2. Spigola alle erbe al forno --- Oven-baked salt-crusted sea bass (HKD458) And of course... 3. Lombo di agnello in crosta al forno --- Roasted lamb chops (HKD418) The polpo (octopus) was polpo-licious! Hands down, one of the best octopus dishes I've ever tried (one of my other favorites is the Octopus Provencal at The Smoking Goat in San Diego). It was grilled to perfection, still tender (not rubbery) and well-seasoned. The salad was light, refreshing, and provided a nice entrance to our main courses. The sea bass came out first on a cart, and a waitstaff began to take off the baked salt layer. She was also about to serve the fish - aka remove the meat for us - but we politely asked if we could do it ourselves. For the lamb, we divided it between the two of us, vegetables and all. The lamb was still as good as I remembered having it the first time. Upon request, they brought us additional sauce for the lamb. The sea bass was baked with thyme and rosemary stuffed inside - it smelled wonderful without overwhelming the taste. Excellent preparation by the kitchen! I am easily overwhelmed by a lot of choices. So when I saw the dessert menu, it took me almost 15 minutes to make up my mind. Was I feeling tiramisu? I did see someone order it the last time I was at Gradini and 90% of it was cream... The apple pie with vanilla gelato, tempting... Earl Grey Panna Cotta (HKD80), how intriguing! While I haven't had my fair share of good panna cotta, I do love anything Earl Grey. I have found, however, that Earl Grey-flavored items can be a hit or a miss, nothing in between. Was I willing to take a risk? In the end, yes, and it was worth it. The presentation was nothing too impressive, BUT the taste was heart-melting. Absolutely addicting - my friend could not stop scraping the bottom of the bowl, "It's so good, Celine! Can't stop, won't stop!" she said, "Aren't you glad you picked the Earl Grey Panna Cotta?" Yes, very glad. While you can definitely count on the quality of the food, I found the waitstaff not entirely up-to-par. When it came to asking about wines, they weren't too knowledgeable about the pairings, or what would best suit our selected dishes. The service was there, but the knowledge was a bit lacking (would consider knocking off a star...), though not a big hindrance to the overall dining experience.
