Decent beers on tap, much of which are largely German and epic platters that will satiate any big eater, and much like the rest of their neighbors: a revamped interior with indoor and outdoor spaces. Be it a casual drink meetup or an alternative dinner option, this place just works. The staff is comprised of mainly local folks with a good command of English. As expected, their German is virtually non-existent, save for a few beer names and their prominent dishes. Overall, they're efficient and friendly, which is as much as one can ask for in HK. Western fare will not come cheap and the same applies here. The bathrooms are two floors up in the TST Center and the views of Hong Kong are somewhat obscured by the highway barricades, but it won't diminish a good weather night. Come thirsty and preferably with good company.

There was a oompah band going around the tables entertaining us, and servers were dressed in German folk costumes, all creating a festive atmosphere. The menu seems to aim hard to be international - so if German food is not your thing, you can consider many options such as Thai salad, Malaysian beef shank, pesto pasta, curry chicken and more. As for drinks, the last time I went there unfortunately I was kind of ill so I did not order beer, however I ordered one Mango whatever that does not have alcohol, while my friends ordered draughts of beers... bravo... the beer here generally is rather nice and not too strong flavoured so it is great for people who cannot drink that much. Also if it is your friend's birthday, please be prepared that the lead singer will sing him/her a happy birthday song. I am not a fan as it is rather embarrassing, but the atmosphere is definitely very cool (after a few glasses). It appears to me that King Luwig BeerHall has become quite a chain now in Hong Kong, I have tried the one in Tuen Mun and honestly, the one in Tsim Sha Tsui is definitely better in terms of the atmosphere. I strongly suggest that you should make a reservation as early as possible. Not that it will be full-house but more to do with the fact that you may not be able to watch the live band perform if you just walk-in as you will be sent to the farthest table and you can barely hear what they are singing.

Located between the N1 and N2 exits on the MTR, Biergarten stands out amongst through the Podium Plaza lineup of international establishments. It was the very first German find and eventually became my most visited one as well. I appreciate the bits of authenticity they've put into the business all the way from their signage to their menu, which is listed in German and English. The ambiance feels distinctly pub-like and some of the staff is German speaking, which I've found in most of the bartenders. If only everyone was wearing lederhosen, this could be the ultimate (but tight space!) Oktoberfest destination. In general, I enjoy drinking here. They have a good selection of beers, German and others, on tap and available in bottle / can form. There are plenty of stools at the bar and front area is open enough to call this place outdoor friendly. The bartenders make for interesting conversation and are adept at recommending quality beers. If there is any fault, it would be the food. The menu is broken down to soups, salads and classic mains, there is even a dedicated section to cold / hot sausages. And while most things are certainly reminiscent of dishes I've had in Deutschland, none have captured the magic of anything I've had. This is asking a lot for Hong Kong obviously, where western food tends to be lackluster and sadly the case applies here as well (specifically: the goulash, wurst plate, knuckle hocks, meat loaf, schnitzel). It wasn't all bad of course, I did appreciate the mash potatoes. Sadly, a delicious side does not make up for a string of mediocre mains. Given the major lack of presence amongst locals and the general feel of the place, it goes without saying Biergarten is a likely option for many non-Chinese tourists. It took about 45 minutes to make, but oh my...what deliciousness! The server asked me if I wanted it "cut". I didn't know what that meant, but it sounded like the norm. I'm glad I went with "cut" because the hog leg came out hacked in a few spots making it much easier to eat. Crunchy skin, meaty pork flavor, lots of collagen, and delicious fatty parts! We came here on a Tuesday night celebrating my friend's birthday. It was such an excellent dining experience! First thing I've got to say is the service here is above and beyond. An incredible food experience! Definitely come hungry and expect to not need to eat anything else the rest of the day. As you enter the restaurant you're greeted with a glass of champagne, or wine. Alcohol at this brunch is "free-flowing". meaning when you get up to grab more food, your drink will be filled by the time you return. And you can spend hours trying everything in the the dessert and cheese rooms. The best thing about Whisk, is that there's always some surprise for the guests. They've done all kinds of things over the years: I've witnessed them serve a giant chocolate stiletto for dessert. I've watched the head chef prepare the freshest sashimi I've ever had; I watched him prep and cut a tuna caught the day before (see photo). The shop is well decorated in a rather un-Germanic way and the environment is a relaxing one. Back to the food though- there are various platters of , lacking for a better word, sausages. Sausages, sauerkraut and grilled chicken were the items that really caught my attention and if you are a vegan then this place might not be a good place for you. The redeeming point is that you get a whole host of beers here which you could not find elsewhere. Honestly, this place would fare better if it positioned itself as a bar which serves food rather than a restaurant that serves beer. At least that way you can explain why your menu is so limited.

We ordered the dessert platter which comes served like a tower. It consists of Black Forest cheesecake, vanilla pancakes, and apple strudel. I'm a huge pancake fan, and the vanilla pancakes here are delicious. They are served with dark cherries, which I'm not a fan of, so I found myself eating them with a bit of vanilla ice cream from the apple strudel. They're sweet, so you could be just as satisfied eating them plain. The black forest cake is decent and served with ice cream and delicious little raspberry jello slivers on the side. The apple strudel is served warm and has a nice flaky crust. Next time we get dessert here, we're going to skip the sampler and order the vanilla pancakes. As you'd expect with this type of bar its located in the hip and popular So-Ho area. You're gonna find plenty of bars selling bog standard lager around here, but not Craft Brew. These guys really stand out with their rather aggressive marketing of, "Craft not Crap" and you won't find any boring beers in here. To be honest these guys had some outstanding beer on when I was in. I was drinking their very own Kung Fu Lager and Summer Ale as I'd never seen them in the UK. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night. The staff in Craft Brew were really great and allowed me to sample several different beers before finding the ones I was after. This is a top destination for beer lovers, if I lived in HK I'd be in here a lot!
