Schnitzel!
Tracy H.

Nice place in a good location. I ordered the pork schnitzel which was a bit thick and dry (could have used a bit more tenderising), friends ordered the nürnberger sausages which were delicious, especially the mash, and the Beef goulash which was decent if also a little dry. We all got the apple strudel for dessert which was possibly the best part!! Great german wines on the menu and of course german beer.

TST has managed to see the opening of several German establishments over last few years, so why not a few more? 尖東 has effectively become a western melting pot of establishments with waterfront views and rapidly pricey area. Overall, Brotzeit surprised me. Decent beers on tap, much of which are largely German and epic platters that will satiate any big eater, and much like the rest of their neighbors: a revamped interior with indoor and outdoor spaces. Be it a casual drink meetup or an alternative dinner option, this place just works. The staff is comprised of mainly local folks with a good command of English. As expected, their German is virtually non-existent, save for a few beer names and their prominent dishes. Overall, they're efficient and friendly, which is as much as one can ask for in HK. Western fare will not come cheap and the same applies here. The bathrooms are two floors up in the TST Center and the views of Hong Kong are somewhat obscured by the highway barricades, but it won't diminish a good weather night. Come thirsty and preferably with good company.

OK this place gets major kudos for the waiter who informed us how to get a free Germain beer mug (…read morethe huge good quality ones, that typically will cost a few bucks)...needless to say our restaurant neighbors weren't pleased as their waiter didn't follow suit and I should add it was Oktoberfest so I don't think this practice is typical. I'm not really a fan of Germain sausages and such so we ordered a sampler, which was just OK, but the beer was tasty and at that moment that's all that mattered

The pretzel bread was delicious too, and the pig knuckle was a hefty size that we could barely finished. We did know that it would be a meat heavy menu, but my friend wanted some salad, so we decided on the German sausage salad. Imagine our surprise when the dish came, two pump link of sausages accompanied by a teeny side - like two bite-ful - of frisee salad! Please, be more generous with the greens! There was a oompah band going around the tables entertaining us, and servers were dressed in German folk costumes, all creating a festive atmosphere. The menu seems to aim hard to be international - so if German food is not your thing, you can consider many options such as Thai salad, Malaysian beef shank, pesto pasta, curry chicken and more. Not sure if they are just trying to include all tourists, but I find it a bit weird.

Okay, I am obviously not talking about history so just let me cut to the chase - King Luwig BeerHall. I am completely aware of the fact that I am such a light-weight that I cannot drink that much, but once in a while I just let myself go for a bit (finger cross not as much). God knows how many times I have been here but I am still a fan of this place. The pork knuckles are definitely its signature dish here (of course it is slightly pricier than having than in Germany); however, the sausage platters to me seem rather ordinary and quite disappointing frankly speaking as people keep saying how good German sausages are, not here unfortunately. The scallop soup is very creamy and delicious as well. As for drinks, the last time I went there unfortunately I was kind of ill so I did not order beer, however I ordered one Mango whatever that does not have alcohol, while my friends ordered draughts of beers... bravo... the beer here generally is rather nice and not too strong flavoured so it is great for people who cannot drink that much. Also if it is your friend's birthday, please be prepared that the lead singer will sing him/her a happy birthday song. I am not a fan as it is rather embarrassing, but the atmosphere is definitely very cool (after a few glasses). It appears to me that King Luwig BeerHall has become quite a chain now in Hong Kong, I have tried the one in Tuen Mun and honestly, the one in Tsim Sha Tsui is definitely better in terms of the atmosphere. I strongly suggest that you should make a reservation as early as possible. Not that it will be full-house but more to do with the fact that you may not be able to watch the live band perform if you just walk-in as you will be sent to the farthest table and you can barely hear what they are singing.

Ps. I don't usually type that many words on reviews, you can tell how much I loved this restaurant…read more @whisk.hk Great French Japanese Cuisine. We came here on a Tuesday night celebrating my friend's birthday. It was such an excellent dining experience! First thing I've got to say is the service here is above and beyond. From the head chef @willy_cuisinier, the staffs that took care of us, everyone was so nice and caring. The food was amazing too. We both ordered the ten courses from the omakase menu and the wine pairing. My favorite dishes are the Uni Lobster, Sakana and all the desserts!!! Basically every dish has the components I look for. And all the ingredients taste fresh. Plus the platings are gorgeous too every dish is so unique and creative. ------------------------------------ 1st course - Japanese Tomato 4/5 It's very refreshing starter. It comes with the granita and the jelly on the bottom. All of the flavors worked so well with the tomato. 2nd course - Caviar 4/5 Japanese Yam, marusho rice vinegar, Caviar. It was very nice indeed. Soft and delicate. 3rd course - Aubergine 4/5 Very beautiful presentation and it was tasty with the nori sauce. And it goes very well with the sake! 4th course - Sakana 5/5 The fish was cooked at its perfection, so soft and juicy with full of taste. One of the tastiest pieces of fish I had ever eaten. And the broth so good that you wanted to soak it up with anything available. 5th course - Japanese Sweet Onion 3/5 The sweet onion was good. The dumpling broth was light not too heavy and creamy. 6th course - Lobster (+$178 add Uni) 5/5 Add Uni is a MUST if you're an UNI fan like me!! Believe me it was worth every penny. The whole dish was very satisfying and mouth watering. So fresh. And it had perfect texture and delightful flavors. It's like an explosion in your mouth. Main courses - Guinea Fowl and Wagyu Beef A4 (+$228) 4/5 I really like the French chicken with the harissa sauce and grape jam. It was flavorful, juicy and tender. The subtle flavor of this dish is so comforting. And the Saga Wagyu beef was cooked on point and very juicy as well. Loved the nori as well. Both dishes paired very well with the Merlot. Dessert - Momo 5/5, Chocolate 5/5 , Miso 5/5 I can't even pick my favorite. I don't really like sweets but I loved all these. They were incredible and tasty. Momo, a peach dessert with candied hibiscus and roses. Sour and sweet. Great paired with the complimentary liqueur peach. Thank you! Chocolate, loved this magical pairing of three different types of matcha and chocolate. It's really pair well together, making for a slightly nutty, sweet, and bitter combo. Miso, White Chocolate Shiso Choux. I ate so many Choux cream puffs before. But this was so delicious! The filling for this Choux is to die for! Hahahaha Loved every dish and can't wait to come back here again!! Service (Excellent service) Ambience (the decor is beautiful, chic, modern, relaxing) Food (Incredible, delicious)

And the brunch is a feast; besides the seafood themed buffet featuring cold cuts, smoked salmon, unlimited lobster, prawns, oysters from the south of France, and caviar, they also serve a three-course meal off of an ever-changing menu. An incredible food experience! Definitely come hungry and expect to not need to eat anything else the rest of the day. As you enter the restaurant you're greeted with a glass of champagne, or wine. Alcohol at this brunch is "free-flowing". meaning when you get up to grab more food, your drink will be filled by the time you return. And you can spend hours trying everything in the the dessert and cheese rooms. The best thing about Whisk, is that there's always some surprise for the guests. They've done all kinds of things over the years: I've witnessed them serve a giant chocolate stiletto for dessert. I've watched the head chef prepare the freshest sashimi I've ever had; I watched him prep and cut a tuna caught the day before (see photo). And I also witnessed them take slices of Wagyu beef and blowtorch them over a stone for a unique bringing-you-to-tears flavor(see video). It's unique experiences like this that keep me coming back. I'm excited to see what unique things Whisk chooses to do this coming year. Foodie alert: eating at Whisk is turning people with the mildest of pallets into foodies, one brunch at a time.

I ordered sausages (nunberger, I think that's how it's spelt) that came with side of the creamiest mash potato I've ever had, sauerkraut, mustard and gravy. All in all a delicious meal. My friend's meals on the other hand weren't as delectable as I would have hoped (chicken schnitzel and a beef goulash) so safe bet, have a sausage. For dessert, have the strudel. Seriously... When you think about what you could have in a German restaurant, all you can probably order is sausages and beers- that basically sums up Berliner. Berliner is situated on the ground floor of Olympic City Phase 3, this place seems to be devoted to restaurants as half the shops here are eateries and Berliner takes a central location in the mall next to the main entrance. The shop is well decorated in a rather un-Germanic way and the environment is a relaxing one. Back to the food though- there are various platters of , lacking for a better word, sausages. Sausages, sauerkraut and grilled chicken were the items that really caught my attention and if you are a vegan then this place might not be a good place for you. The redeeming point is that you get a whole host of beers here which you could not find elsewhere. Honestly, this place would fare better if it positioned itself as a bar which serves food rather than a restaurant that serves beer. At least that way you can explain why your menu is so limited.

I first went to the Berliner in Discovery Bay, and one day my husband was having a sausage craving,…read moreso he looked it up and discovered there was one right near home at Olympian Mall. There are a lot of good things going on at the Berliner. If you like sausage, you need to make a trip to one of its locations. They make great German sausage, and have good quality beer to wash it down including a choice of three non alcoholic beers. On my first trip, I ordered a liter of cider, my husband looked at me funny and asked if I was sure about getting a liter. It was hot, I was thirsty, and when it arrived in the table my jaw dropped. I ended up finishing it well after are meal and with much larger forearm muscles. We ordered the wurst platter which comes with four different types of sausage, potatoes and sauerkraut. The sausage is fragrant, juicy, and flavorful. Each has its own unique taste and goes perfectly with a little Dijon mustard. Dessert here was a pleasant surprise. We ordered the dessert platter which comes served like a tower. It consists of Black Forest cheesecake, vanilla pancakes, and apple strudel. I'm a huge pancake fan, and the vanilla pancakes here are delicious. They are served with dark cherries, which I'm not a fan of, so I found myself eating them with a bit of vanilla ice cream from the apple strudel. They're sweet, so you could be just as satisfied eating them plain. The black forest cake is decent and served with ice cream and delicious little raspberry jello slivers on the side. The apple strudel is served warm and has a nice flaky crust. Next time we get dessert here, we're going to skip the sampler and order the vanilla pancakes. Also, try to avoid sitting outside because the road is nearby, and people often walk in between the tables.

However, fast forward to 2016 and now Hongkongers seem to be completely spoiled for choice (and I'm very jealous)!!! Craft Brew & Co was probably my favourite of the many craft beer bars we visited. As you'd expect with this type of bar its located in the hip and popular So-Ho area. You're gonna find plenty of bars selling bog standard lager around here, but not Craft Brew. These guys really stand out with their rather aggressive marketing of, "Craft not Crap" and you won't find any boring beers in here. To be honest these guys had some outstanding beer on when I was in. I was drinking their very own Kung Fu Lager and Summer Ale as I'd never seen them in the UK. Both were great examples of a modern, hoppy beer. They were super cold and refreshing, not cheap, (as you would expect) but totally worth it in my opinion. With its simple wooden tables and decoration, this is definitely like a craft beer bar you'd get in Europe. The music was pretty hit and miss (I mean Take That, really??) but it kinda made for a fun night. The staff in Craft Brew were really great and allowed me to sample several different beers before finding the ones I was after. This is a top destination for beer lovers, if I lived in HK I'd be in here a lot!

Yet, when we arrived with 12 directors and professionals on a quiet Monday night, the restaurant was almost empty, and the manager immediately told us off for not booking. He talked down to me, avoided eye contact, and made us feel entirely insignificant. We tried to have a calm conversation and mentioned we were spending money on a two-hour social gathering, but he restricted us to sit in the corner and strictly ordered us not to mingle with his patrons. He flatly stated he didn't care about our money, only his 'regulars.' To make matters worse, they forgot one of our food orders, and some of the food we did receive was subpar. It's a shame because the floor staff were sweet and kind, but hospitality starts from the top. I have never felt more unwelcome and treated with such hostility at an establishment. Avoid this place!
