Friday night was busy. Many office workers came here to unwind and couples on their dates. We came to break our Asian food routine. The service was a little inconsistent. Placed our order, bread came first but our wine and beer didn't arrive until we reminded the waitress. Water however was consistently topped up without prompting. The cold cut board came followed by mussels. I thought they should have come out together since they were both appetisers. Our mains of orecchiette and lasagna also came with time gap. The food overall was tasty but service was a little chaotic with drink servers running around bumping into patrons. This place is not cheap either around HK$1,100 for three people who drank only 2 alcoholic drink and ate 2 appetites and 2 mains.

My friend and I got went with Grandma's Menu, which is where the chef recommends a couple dishes for your table. Best choice of the day. We started with their Vitello Tonnato. It was very flavourful and a light surprise. The veal was well seasoned. Next, came the octopus salad. It was as light and citrusy, and had good textures between the octopus and the potatoes. Then, was the black truffle tagliatelle. Can't really say how good it was because it literally was amazing. It was so rich and definitely one of the best items on the menu. Finally, we had the butcher's cut, which is a flank stank with a salad. I was really surprised at how flavourful and how tender the steak was. For dessert, they gave us a tiramisu, not too special. Overall I really enjoyed this place and would love to go again. The dishes were amazing and I love that each one had such good quality and flavour. You will not be disappointed if you go!

One of the very hip dinner spots in Wan Chai, located on the 29th floor. Be sure to make reservations during peak times. I made a reservation online on a Friday, and the earliest I could get was 9PM. The elevators open directly into the restaurant like most buildings in HK. We were there a few minutes early, but unfortunately our table was not ready. You can wait at the bar (which was packed) or at the rooftop which is a few flights of stairs up (be aware - no A/C up there). It's lit with green glowing lamps on each table, and you get some pretty nice views of HK from several vantage points. They have a more limited bar with some appetizers up there. This part of my experience was the only reason I'm docking a star. We waited 35-40 minutes before we were called down, and it could've been longer if we hadn't constantly been asking the staff about the status of our table. It felt like they completely forgot about us. Other than the disorganized seating management, everything else at this place is fantastic. They play chill pop/jazz music at a reasonable volume, with a dimly lit atmosphere, and more importantly, the food was great. Appetizer: Beef strips with tuna sauce layered on top. Innovative and surprisingly good combination. Pappardelle with beef ragu: texture of the pasta was just right and the stewed beef was nice and tender. It's a bit salty if you eat the beef alone, but have it together with the pappardelle and it's perfect! Gnocchetti with pistachio sauce and prawns: also a very nice mixture of flavors. Consistency of the pasta worked very well with the pistachio sauce. Prawns felt a bit overcooked, but it was a small detail. I would definitely make some more visits in the future, hopefully I'll have a better experience their maitre d' next time.

Flank steak with cherry tomatoes and arugula.

Stylish, spirited, and smart, Pirata has become my go-to restaurant when I'm aiming to impress. As others mention, this space feels decidedly New York City (and I'm a huge proponent of this type of buzzy, super alive atmosphere). While things may be loud and lively, you can rest easy knowing that operationally, everything runs like a well-oiled machine. All items on the menu are meant to be shared which I always find to be great fun. My friend and I decided to try the Italian sausage crostini, the burrata and parma ham, the octopus salad, the Butcher's cut (sliced flank steak served with cherry tomatoes atop a bed of rocket), and the tagliatelle with black truffle. While all the menu items satisfied our craving for well-done Italian, I'd recommend the burrata and parma, the Butcher's cut and any of their handmade pastas as the standouts. Yes: pasta made fresh every morning in Hong Kong! We washed it all down with a bottle of Barbera wine and unfortunately, we were far too stuffed to try dessert (yes, we over-ordered!). For the price, servings are generous and don't be surprised if you strut out feeling a touch cooler after dining at Pirata. Love, love, LOVE this space! And there's plenty of fabulous views to complement the fabulous dining experience.

New italian restaurant and the first Vermouth Bar in HK. Great food (Big portion! Good for sharing) and wide selection of vermouth! Definitely my new fav italian restaurant in Hong Kong. Starter * Originally want to order the stuffed mini bell pepper but they recommended the Roasted Bell pepper with mystery sauce and it was amazing. Refreshing! Main * The Butcher's Cut. Flank steak, rocket and cherry tomato. Simply perfect! Main * Honest Risotto with porcini mushroom, butter and parmesan. One of the best in town! Cook and serve by Chef Stefano Rossi.

At the time of my writing this review, this restaurant had only been open for 3-4 months. I've only visited once so here it goes: Our reservation was at 9:00 pm. We arrived at 9:30 pm. Oops!!! Luckily, they still held our table. So, the manager takes our order. I guess they want the boss to be more connected to the guests? Cool! So we order the steak. Forgot what it's called but it's cut into nice rectangular pieces and arranged in a circle and topped with arugula and cherry tomatoes. This dish was very good! Juicy!!!! We also had the pasta with sausage- a full serving. Also very good and the pasta was just right- al dente!! We had a salad also - veggies are cut into cubes with mozzerella balls. It kind of reminded me of a Greek salad. On to dessert!!!! I can't remember what our desert was called, but it had lots of nuts, had a texture or ice cream ( but it wasn't ice cream) and drizzled with chocolate! Ohhhh so good! The other dessert we had - the "Bornet"- not the best one. So skip that one. See you soon!

Its OK since it is new. I think they're still new so when I went it wasn't something for me to awe about. However, I am sure now it is much better. You gotta try their meatballs though. It was pretty saucy and they come very hot! Give that a shot! I haven't tried any of their drinks, but I remember the drink list was quite interesting. I'd say I would go again if I had the chance.

Celiac/Gluten Free Review:: *Update!: Saturday night service is a bit slow so going earlier in the week is better. So I asked when we were seated for gluten free options and they had a manager come over and assure me that the gluten free pasta had minimal contamination. They even had gluten free bread which is baked in a different oven. The brought me my own basket of two rolls for before the meal. I also had their octopus salad and it was a great start not too big but not leaving you too hungry. I then had the truffle pasta with their gluten free option and it was great! A good amount of pasta and sauce but not too much. Full with a warm meal at the end of the night so I am very happy. *I am celiac and didn't experience any discomfort from eating. Just make sure to tell them you are allergic.*

Brought the bf here for his 24th birthday! Ambiance was modern and sleek, nice view of the skyscrapers through the floor to ceiling windows. We ordered Hennessy sidecars but got served Hennessy neat. We didn't mind all that much as our appetite was voracious so we proceeded to order. For appetizers we got the carpaccio and bruschetta. Bruschetta was flavorful, bread was crunchy and carpaccio melted in our mouths. For our entrees we chose the liquid Parmesan raviolini and tagliatelle with black truffle. Both were marvelous in flavor but the portions were a bit small. The best part of all was the tiramisu dessert! A generous piece with all the flavor components I would expect. They also took a Polaroid of us during dessert enclosed it in a personalized card for us to take home and remember forever! We had a great dining experience!

So much food. If you don't mind spending money, the free flow brunch is worth it. Started with anti pasta bar, and a platter of cheese, meats, and bread. Then came the three appetizers, entree, then dessert. The cheeses were so good (my favorite part). But also the appetizers were really well made. I got the steak entree and it was cooked perfectly, meal for two. This brunch was a lot of food so pace yourself so you can enjoy all of it. About 60$ USD with the free flow alcohol.

    Duck pasta - okay

The truffle pasta was pretty good! Creamy but not too heavy. Price is reasonable - $210. Duck ragu pasta was okay - not my Favourite -$170

My European expat friends rave about this place and there's no question why they do! We came here for lunch where they have a massive spread of Antipasti. The selection ranges from various cheeses to deli meats to breads to salads. To be honest, this alone is enough for unambitious eaters to gorge on but we were ready for the decadence of our main course. We chose the Butcher's Cut and the Tagliatelle with black truffle. The flank steak was perfectly grilled at a pink medium rare and rested on a bed of rocket and cherry tomatoes. The succulence of the meat balanced well with the fresh greens and the explosion of flavour from the tomatoes added another level to the dish. The Tagliatelle was cooked perfectly al dente and you could tell it was hand made as the thick pasta did not clump together. Shaved black truffles generously covered the pasta allowing an aroma of flavour to fill the air. The addition of the white truffle paste completed the pasta well and did not overwhelm my tastebuds with too much truffle flavour. We finished with a Cafe Affogato which gave me the kick I needed to continue my day, while the cool vanilla ice cream helped to bring the meal to a sweet ending. The venue is set over a spacious 2 floors and the waiters are nice and joked with us every time I responded with how much I liked the food. I'm not sure if I liked this place so much because I was expecting so little (after-all in Hong Kong there are hundreds of restaurants which serve under-par, bland truffle dishes with disrespectful service) but there was honestly not a single point of the meal which I could fault. In addition, for HKD 248, in Hong Kong you could easily pay triple/quadruple the price for the amount and quality of food that we ate so the pricing is also very, very fair. All in all, the meal was a perfect balance and I cannot wait to come back for more!

Best bottomless brunch in Hong Kong. The meal is served family style with pre-selected appetizers and a buffet of antipasti. The asparagus flan is especially unique and amazing - something that would be a major challenge to recreate at home. Each person can select an individual entree, but I think it's best for them to be shared. Desserts also come family style. Fantastic service and beautiful views. While I love this place for brunch, dinner is also amazing with stunning skyline views. Ask to sit upstairs to the right of the bar by the huge windows - it's stunning at night.

La Cucina Italiana Review on 2017.5.16…read more This is my second visit of this restaurant. I had no memory what I ordered last time, but I had great memory of it. The complimentary starters were two sauces with baguette, one was tomato onion garlic with vinegar and one was garlic pickle salt vinegar from guessing. I could eat it whole night just that. For starter, we had Proscuitto Melone with a very slim slice of soft bread. The melone was very sweet. I had to wonder where was the country of origin. The prosciutto was good. It had less fat than those from my Italian friend. I dont think it was any special to eat them together. For pizza, we ordered Napolitan Style, Seafood, and Assorted Mushroom Pizza. Definitely one of the best in HK. " Pizza Expression " was a joke compare to it. All pizza was made very thin and crunchy, full of topping. I would recommend Seafood Pizza out of all three. I loved their noodle and rice. We had Seafood Spaghetti, Spwaghetti with Clams and White Wine Sauce, Risotto with Asserted Mushroom, and Cannelone. They had the Rice and spaghetti a bit hard like the way Italian would. Both seafood and clam spaghetti were very delicious. Cannelone was pasta roll. ( it is like Tortellini) inside have good balance of good Ricotta Cheese and spinach. The environment was a bit dark, but overall was a comfy place with italian garden feel. Other fact i like this resturant was that they really had many dishes to pick. For the service be expected lack of staff, i wouldn't complaint that too much in hk environment. Rating would be: Taste: 4.5 Environment: 4 Service: 3 Hygiene: 4.5 Value: 4

It's not a completely novel idea to have Japanese and Italian fusion cuisine, but it's still refreshing among all the Italian restaurants in Causeway (and to be fair, Japanese restaurants as well). The restaurant (and the whole building) is quite small. It's not full, but sitting at one of the tables not close to the wall would definitely make you feel uncomfy. It's all everyone in the restaurant could have their eyes on you. But you have to appreciate the colorful decor they put on. Pretty lit too, unlike your typical fine dining restaurant. Not sure if it's better or worse though. We ordered a Grilled Lobster Risotto, Wagyu Beef Cheek with Italian rice (I looked at the menu online, it said it served with Inaniwa Udon instead.. weird), and a Black Cod Saikyo Yaki. The food were all okay, to say the least. The main problem was, it didn't feel like fusion. It's like a restaurant with both Italian food and Japanese food on the menu. Which is fine, but not that impressive. Say if you use Italian rice to make a sushi, that would be a first. We did enjoy the dinner there and ended up being the last table leaving the restaurant. If you are looking for a nice dining place on a weekend, it's decent enough. If you are looking for some innovative dishes, then look elsewhere.

In fact I was even a little skeptical. How could a watch brand open restaurants and serve decent food? This restaurant in particular serves Italian Japanese food. When you first walk in you quickly feel that it is a very comfortable environment. The restaurant is full of colors and they have nice open kitchen and bar. We ordered a variety of different dishes between the four of us. Some of the things that we ordered included Okinawa miso pork, baked chicken casserole a wagyu beef cheek. I was impressed by the quality of the dishes, I just have to highlight them individually. First of all the Okinawa miso pork was roasted to perfection it was fatty but they served it with a side salad. It was so tasty I think I could have had it with a bowl of rice and finished the whole thing on my own easily. the other dish we ordered was the baked chicken casserole. to me when they open the pot, it felt like clay pot rice. Really brought back childhood memories. it was so yummy and they even have the little pieces stuck to the bottom of the bowl, that was the best part. The final thing I wanted to highlight is the wagyu beef cheek, I like how they paired it with a Japanese udon. I think that was a classic example of what they classified as Italian Japanese. I would definitely come back anytime, any day
