My wife and I likes to hunt for specialty coffee shops around the world. It just so happens that Accro coffee has a world siphonist champion and we were hoping to meet her. The store was really well designed. It has a long bar table for the baristas to use, it has many seating indoor and a few outdoor. The store front has coffee related accessories to browse and purchase. Anyway, we didn't had any siphon, we had 2 cups of cappuccino. I forgot which bean we chose but they were both pretty good. Really glad to see the specialty coffee culture is booming in Hong Kong. Hopefully i can visit this coffee shop again soon! We didn't get to meet Pinky this time. My first experience was a takeaway order of black bean spare ribs with bell peppers over rice. For $60, I wish there were more pieces of ribs. My second experience was BBQ pork and over easy eggs with rice. The pork was tough, an odd color, and not a traditional BBQ pork flavor. Unless this is the only place open, I would go with other options.

It's very easy to find, just a few minutes walk from the ferry pier, and along the Yung Shue Wan Main Street. The setting is more than pleasant, with a nicely decorated interior of cafe meets library. Unfortunately, everything is slightly tired, and could do with a nice spruce up and a clean. I get that we're into saving Mother Earth, white guys with dreadlocks, and not wearing shoes, but it doesn't mean you can't have a good scrub occasionally. The food can be a little hit and miss. Hits include the veggie lasagne, and any of the salads, but misses include the bean burger, which looks great in the photo but sadly not on my plate. What you are guaranteed here though, is that all the dishes are healthy and meat free. If you can avoid it, don't use the bathroom facilities here. You have to exit the cafe in to an alley way, which seems to be populated with the local 15 year old gangster lads - "in'it bruv!", and then go down to the end of the alley which narrows to about one foot across. If you are as prosperous as me, you won't actually fit through the gap to the restroom. Perhaps I need to eat less fired chicken, and more bean burgers...?

The beef brisket noodles here is buttery soft and served with real savory soup that you can drink instead of the usual soy sauce water with MSG. The noodles are possibly handmade in the shop because it is neither al dente nor soggy. It is very springy in the mouth. It is ridiculously cheap, only 38HKD for the beef brisket noodle with a drink (hot milk tea, cold milk tea, or honey lemon). Atmosphere (*** out of *****); Typical Spartan Hong Kong mom and pop restaurant. What sets it apart is that this place is very clean. Service (*** out of *****); Typical budget Hong Kong restaurant service with only one waitress for an entire restaurant serving 14 or more people. Bless her heart, this place can get really packed during peak hours, but that gal still manages to get your food out quick while everything is still hot. She doesn't check on you during your meal like in a Western restaurant, though. However, the restaurant is really small, so just flag her down if you need anything. She keeps a careful watch over all her diners on her little stool in the corner by the door. The restaurant is small and is easy to miss as the door does not indicate any English name . Be sure to look for a black door and you will not miss it for sure. The house sits approx 22-25 people ( inclusive of 4 bench seating ). It is a rare to find cafe in the Tai Wai area so be sure to arrive early if you do not want to wait . The menu has extensive selection of deserts which unfortunately I did not manage to try after my onigiri set . They serve a few variety of set lunches such as Kobe beef rice set ( was a special menu) , hamburger need rice set ( chefs recommendation), karaage rice set ... Etc I tried the onigiri set and also the hamburger beef set . It was not bad but portions are small for guys ! My salmon onigiri set came with 2 onigiri ( one salmon and the other with corn and bonito flakes. The salmon onigiri had minimal salmon which was disappointing and I wished they toasted my onigiri !! I had seen this place before but I had never fancied it. It's a small coffee shop, located in one of the most popular areas of the Island right now. From outside it looks like a mix of a garage and a café. In fact, it may have been a garage once, since the door is a sliding heavy one. We went in and ordered a couple of teas. They also have some simple food on the menu (sandwich, soup, pasta and cake). Most of it and most of the orders that day seemed to be just coffees or teas from what I could see. The tea was average, serve in a funny cup. To me it was just another café, with a lot of potential, but not really making the most of its location. Inside it's small but a big chunk of the space is taken by a bar that it...way too high, you can barely see over the counter which makes it weird, for such a tiny space. And decoration wise there are some really cool things but others don't seem to have taken care of. As my sister is an artist we started to list things that we would do to that place to make it look as cool as possible and we came up with a few!
