They visited Oddies and we wanted to try egg waffles so we walked there. Getting there was admittedly a steep trek but it was completely worth the walk. It's a small shop that was easy to miss, but there was a nice spot to sit down inside. We bought the Fancy Pants parfait, which was somewhat pricey (about $10 US). We opted to eat it on the way back to our hotel. The gelato was soft and creamy, and had multiple layers of tantalizing flavors (peanut butter, cookie chunks, etc.). It was super flavorful and delicious. The egg waffles themselves were crispy on the outside and custardy and soft on the inside. They were the perfect amount of sweetness and absolutely delectable when eaten in a spoon with the ice cream. This was so, so yummy and unique- definitely somewhere to go and wish we had time for a repeat visit!

I had Hokkaido fresh cream soft serve when I visited Japan a few years back, and I've always wanted to enjoy it again. It is not overly sweet like our very own Mr. Softie; the Hokkaido fresh cream is silky soft and has a natural sweetness. Love it so much! We've tried the soft serve in cones and cups; as well as the mix (matcha + cream). If my body allows it, I would have one everyday... alas, my metabolism just won't work with me. So 3 nights in a row was a heavenly treat!!!! #vacationweightdontcount #foodhumor LOL

The rotating kakigori flavor of the month was black sesame. It was loaded with thick black sesame cream atop and inside the mound of shaved ice. But the cream was very sweet (especially in Hong Kong where desserts tend to be not sweet enough). They also had shaved nuts on top the ice, but it wasn't made apparent in the menu listing. Very dangerous for those with allergies. 2/VALUE. So they did give a lot! However, they did charge a lot too... 150 HKD or $18 USD. 3/SERVICE + AMBIANCE. You'd think with high prices that the service would be good. It's not. The staff is rude. You have to order the item via your phone after scanning a QR code. It has the prominent corner location that is right next to the TST N1 Subway entrance and is facing the popular Hanoi Road. There aren't many dessert options in this part of TST, which makes Owl's Choux an easy destination for post meal treats or a cool down option from the treacherous summer heat. Two things that don't work in favor for Owl's Choux is the price and the fact they sell gelato. In Chinese, "雪糕" or "冰淇淋" is the only way to describe gelato, but is in fact the same word for ice cream, which gets confusing. This is where the price point becomes tricky, as the gelato is handmade. That's right, not imported or store bought, but handmade at home by the owner, Mr. Ricky Chin. For all the sleepness nights Ricky has put into the business, it's quite clear presentation and quality matter above all other things. Dessert fiends, take note. The chouxs themselves don't disappoint. At $58 for a scoop between the choux, one might flinch at the price, but after a bite of their red velvet choux, I was actually semi-stuffed. I'm all for variety, so be sure to indulge on samples before committing to the real thing. If we're talking gelato exclusively, I appreciate the hazelnut / praline + cinnamon crumble the most. In fact I could just eat those two and life would be grand. Lastly, the service has always been my cup of tea. They're generally overly polite and good with dealing with the influx of random crowds that come here. If it's not tourists who are staying nearby, it's locals who are wandering by and typically marveling at the shop's super inviting ambiance. The place is small and they're cash only for now, but I expect big things from one of TST's most underrated spots.

I was strolling around on a blazing hot day with a friend, stumbled across this place and decided to give it a try. The concept is cool- all of the cone wrappers and paper toppings on their ice creams are edible because they are made out of rice paper. Oh, and their ice creams look adorable with all the pastel colors (yup...I'm a sucker for cute things...good marketing) I got Moon ($50 HKD)- Ramune soda flavored ice cream served in a "freshly baked chocolate cookie cup/cone, topped with popping candy, chocolate flakes, golden crispy stars, crunchy chocolate coating and space themed edible paper", as their menu describes it. I was so pleased with how pretty the pale blue ice cream looked. Unfortunately, looks aren't everything and Moon did not pass the taste test. It tasted artificial and bland.. the ONLY pro is that it wasn't too sweet. If the ice cream had tasted half as good as it looked, I would come back. Sadly, that is not the case. Head on over to Lab Made for some of their delicious liquid nitrogen ice cream instead! So close and so much better.

Not overly sugared, but sweet enough to satisfy any taste bud. The edible paper is tangy, and the marshmallow...well, it's a roasted marshmallow, so you can imagine the taste! And then the entire look of the ice cream!! Still unable to get over how cute the entire concoction appears! Overall, I would definitely go again if I was ever in the area again!
