Instagram worthy, but is it calorie worthy? My tummy says no.
Loooop is a new addition to the small but growing Tai Hang neighborhood. I was strolling around on a blazing hot day with a friend, stumbled across this place and decided to give it a try. The concept is cool- all of the cone wrappers and paper toppings on their ice creams are edible because they are made out of rice paper. Oh, and their ice creams look adorable with all the pastel colors (yup...I'm a sucker for cute things...good marketing)
I got Moon ($50 HKD)- Ramune soda flavored ice cream served in a "freshly baked chocolate cookie cup/cone, topped with popping candy, chocolate flakes, golden crispy stars, crunchy chocolate coating and space themed edible paper", as their menu describes it. I was so pleased with how pretty the pale blue ice cream looked. Unfortunately, looks aren't everything and Moon did not pass the taste test. It tasted artificial and bland.. the ONLY pro is that it wasn't too sweet. If the ice cream had tasted half as good as it looked, I would come back. Sadly, that is not the case.
Head on over to Lab Made for some of their delicious liquid nitrogen ice cream instead! So close and so much better. read more
