When Royal Dessert popped up, I was very excited. The area that its located in didn't offer this type of dessert until their arrival. Just like other dessert spots that serve mango themed items, their menu consists of Mango Pudding, Mango Ice Cream, Mango Shakes, mango mango mango. There are other items such as chocolate lava cake and steamed almond milk puddings.
Overall, the flavors are average at best. The Mango and Pomelo dessert seemed a bit watery compared to say, Honeymoon Dessert. I do like the coconut milk pudding here. Its served in its own coconut. You can choose to have it hot or cold. It's a nice little treat every now and then.
Things that need special mention is the hygiene of this place. I don't usually feel the need to wipe my own table again before we sit down, but this has happened before. Also, there always seems to be some sort of flying insects around. Mosquitoes, fruit flies, and other flying critters...not too relaxing when I feel like I'm dodging them left and right.
The staff here tend to rush you, in typical HK fashion. I don't think they mean any harm, but once you are seated, you are expected to order ASAP. Once you stop touching your dessert, they come asking if you're done and attempt to take it away.
There was actually a time when I came in the evening and ordered my dessert. Before my dessert even came to me, they handed me a bill. I was told that they are closing and it would be nice if I can settle the bill first. I mean...if you're closing, I just won't stay, or maybe I'll order take out. Having them hand me a bill before I even see my order was unacceptable. read more
