Since it was only 11:00ish in the morning we decided to have some noodles & congees. Ordered the Chiu Chow Style Beef Brisket Noodles and this is for sure a 4 star item!! For HK$38.00 ( US$4.84 ) you get a pretty good size bowl of soup noodles filled with tender beef brisket, since the meat is still very moist as it was not over cooked it has a great texture and with a tiny bit of fat still on the meat, it makes it taste even better!! Sinful but good! The Mixed Meat Balls Noodles was ok, nothing special, will skip next time! The Baby Oyster Congee ( a staple in Chiu Chow cuisine ) was done very well, the oysters were super fresh and the umami of all the seafood blended perfectly together! This is my comfort food while in Hong Kong! All in all, this is a great place for authentic Chiu Chow Noodle and other goodies, next time will try their famous Marinated Goose and other dishes!! Very friendly service too!

It is just next to Shum Shui Po MTR station - so conveniently located! And the prices are cheap compared to the others. I love the Marinated Delights Combination the most:) Only HKD$128 and you can try over 7 braised food, like the eggs, cuttlefish and pig's ears! It would be great if you match them with the oyster congee! They indeed put a lot of oyster into the congee and that's why it was fresh! We ordered a pot of oyster congee and it only costed us HKD$98 for 3-4 people. If you haven't tried any Chiuchow food, this is a good choice with reasonable prices!

We came on a weekday and got outside seating, very rare for a popular restaurant, but it is a weekday. The setup is similar to Chipotle, you choose a base, which is your choice of noodles, plus your choice of ingredients: fish balls, bean curd, vegetables, etc. They charge for each topping. There is also a combo one which has select ingredients for one price. Food and soup base was very good, This is a vegetarian and pescatarian friendly restaurant.

It's basically create your own noodle- they already have a soup base. Choose the type of noodles, three or more toppings and off you go! You order from the lady and you take your ticket and sit down. It's proper Chinese. I went for stuffed aubergines, stuffed tofu and radish but I wanted more until my aunt stopped me because CLEARLY my eyes are bigger than my stomach. Each bowl of noodles is like 48HKD, which is leaning on the expensive side, especially for such unpretentious food. But it's right by sai Kung harbour which has turned bustling with people, and it's not a sleepy fisherman's town like before. (But you can still buy fish from a boat- freshly caught so no worries!) Only gripe is the drinks took ages and they made it wrong and then got huffy. But that's proper Chinese innit.

Their tofu egg stew with rice was decent. Their beef ramen wasn't bad but why did they serve lukewarm ramen!? I was surprised their marinated egg was done really well and I enjoyed it a lot! Their seafood cream soup was a joke. Their cornstarch to ingredients ratio was like 50:1. I could taste the starchy flavor and maybe they used a little milk, who knows, but I didn't taste any cream at all. Lobster bisque can be missed as well. So yeah, I liked their piping hot tofu stew and their ramen but only if they serve it hot next time. But I don't bother coming back to try other stuff...

Now this place serves legit amazing Thai food. A grandma of Thai descent runs this restaurant and…read moreit's so popular that in the same plaza they have two restaurants! I started off with their Tom Yum soup and boy was it amazing. Some places tend to serve it too creamy, too spicy or too sour/tart but this places does Tom Yum soup proud with the perfect mixture of harmony. I don't personally usually order Tom Yum soup at Thai places because how easy it is to screw it but my Aunt personally recommended that it's good here and I'm so glad I got to try it. Highly recommended. Next came something I never had before, it was raw shrimp served dressed with some chili and garlic slices. Also to accompany the shrimp was a spicy sauce which looked to have some vinegar, cilantro, green onions, chili peppers, and other spices. It had a nice clean kick to it. Next was the pork shanks simmered in what looked to be five spiced broth with Chinese broccoli. The pork was very tender and full of flavor. Definitely worth trying here. On came the skewers, we got beef, chicken, and pork. This was pretty decent but the meats could have been more tender. Out of the three, the pork skewer tasted the best as it had more meat flavor compared to the others. Next came some garlic bread which was good but what made it stand out was the curry that you had to dip with it. Amazing curry! It was a little sweet and reminded me of Malay curry. Then came a whole perfectly cooked chicken. It was so fresh and tender. It was so good that I ate the bulk of it! The white meat could almost be confused with the dark meat in a blind taste test. That's how good it was! Next came the Egg Plant but I'm usually not a fan of Eggplant but they enjoyed it. Then because my Aunt knows the owner, we got a special off the menu item which was a Pumpkin Prawn curry with noodles (yee mein). One of my favorite kind of asian noodles. It went so well with the curry. Definitely recommend ordering it if you can haha. Next to lighten up the already huge amount of food we ordered for 4 people lol, we got a salad with consisted of little Pomelo pulps, cashews, small dried shrimp, chili peppers, green onion, and baby shrimps. If you want great prices and legit authentic Thai food. This has got to be one the places but it's quite a drive outside the city but totally worth the drive!

I made my way into Quarry Bay one cool morning. It did take me a good hour to get there, but nevertheless, I stumbled upon some unique stops enroute to Mian. It's nestled on a smaller street, and it's hard to miss, situated next to a coffee shop. The decor is hip and modern, and clean. Although their menu had other noodle items, I knew I had to get the braised brisket with the 'chinese pappardelle' lo mein. It was exactly how I envisioned it to be. The 2cm thick pappardelle made with duck egg had the perfect texture. The al dente texture complimented the sauce well; it was coated with the slighty sweet soy sauce of the beef. I savoured every bite, and wanted more of the noodles. This place is worth the trek, the quality of the noodles and the meat are stand outs, and one can always explore Quarry Bay afterwards.
