Permanently closed September 30, 2025. They had the best eggplant, but sadly, they are no more.

It's located just off the Temple Street area in Jordan and has been around for just over a year. The small'ish restaurant is run by a small family and a couple of helpers. They're sure to provide the kind of nurturing service one could want, but more importantly feature the kind of Filipino fare that even fellow pinoys and pinays can get behind. I love me some sisig. They've got a tasty version that sizzles with the best. Also their chicharrón is crunchy and most importantly not pungent (though some folks would push this as a requirement). They also have a good line of longanisa, which depending on the sausage one prefers, can be part of a variety of combos they have available through the late afternoon. If one wants to go all out for dinner, consider making reservations for a group Kamayan dinner, which is a traditional way to approach the cuisine. Be sure to call ahead in advance. Lastly, they are cash only and offer a pretty impressive variety of drinks, both non-alcoholic and spirits. Don't let the seediness of Jordan intimidate you, this is one of the many ethnic cuisine gems of HK.

Para ka lang nsa pinas which warms your heart if you are away from home. The food are delicious. My favorite are Laing & Chapsuey ( because I prefer veggies) while my fam loves the meaty dishes. You can never go wrong. Plenty of options & they also have desserts. I usually come early evening but I bet it gets busier late at night. They also serve alcohol. I'm sure you can bring your date here & have nice meal & drinks. I highly recommend this place & as fellow Filipinos we need to support our own to help them stay in business & florish! Mabuhay!

Now it means I'm coming back here when I'm hankering for the fast Filipino version of spaghetti and spam sliders (among other things). A good local Filipino crowd can always be found here. The prices aren't anything crazy compared to the nearby Mickey Ds, but most everything has been premade to keep people moving along. Service is a bit rushed, as there tends to be more people than seats. First time might find the experience a tad hectic when surrounded by people crowding the counter, not in line, and trying to get their order in before everyone else. Decide what you want from the menu and get ready to order when called upon. Even if you're a Jollibee vet, keep the expectations as low as possible. Sure the chicken wings are a tad dry and the burgers are small, but the longanisa is sweet and the spam sliders are tasty. The portions for the other premium items are significantly tinier than that of the states (or the Philippines) so don't ever feel like you're ordering too much. Lastly, bring cash. Sometimes the ladies behind the counter will pretend the card machine isn't working. You've been warned.

I'm not from HK and this is my first time visiting, but I'd imagine if you're a HK native, you would really resonate to the dishes and ideas being presented. The dishes are an interesting fusion of Cantonese food and molecular gastronomy. Most of the dishes had familiar flavors but were presented in a unique way with different textures. The plating was amazing and everything they served was beautiful as well. The service, atmosphere, and experience of this place were all fantastic, but unfortunately, I didn't like the food as much as other Michelin starred restaurants. I thought that some of the dishes were under-seasoned, and other dishes had interesting flavors combination that I didn't quite enjoy. Overall, I think this is a fun place to come as a foreigner but I wouldn't go back.

The bathroom was also super weird, narrow and awkward and so dark that you can't see anything. Of the 2 stalls only one of them had toilet paper in a little roll that wasn't even properly attached to the toilet paper holder. The overall vibe is loud, "club-like," and kind of ratchet, there was a table quite far away from us but the customers were so clearly drunk and loud that the entire restaurant could hear them. We haven't even gotten to the food-- which was below average all around. We had pre-ordered the typhoon crab in advance and it was very expensive, was so over-seasoned, and the crab was not fresh at all. The bbq roast pork (char siu) was okay but incredibly oily and we couldn't finish it. The only passable entree was the fish, but even that was just a steamed fish and nothing to write home about. The service was okay, nothing spectacular but polite enough. The other nice thing was that we got these cute little mah jong desserts and I liked that the outside wall of the restaurant was decorated in mah jong pieces. But overall, this restaurant was my least favorite during our Hong Kong trip and it's just overhyped.

Service is friendly and relatively efficient. But for this price point and the coveted Michelin star, I would expect more. The food quality is so-so. The chicken wings were tender but lacking in depth of flavor. Just salt and a ton of chili peppers. The char shu roasted pork was ok. It wasn't as greasy as others but it was also a bit dry. It was really no better than any other roasted pork we found at random restaurants all over HK. The crispy cheong fan noodles were a bit greasy but flavorful and different. Let's talk about pricing. We went on a Sunday night and we booked early so we did not have a minimum spend. But it seems any bookings now have an 800HKD/pp minimum. They slap a 10% service charge on everything and they basically require you to buy an 88HKD bottle of water. Sorry, they're just not that good.

It is located on the 25th Floor of the "California Tower" building on popular 25/F D'Aguilar Street. My phone only picks up a 3g network in Hong Kong while I am off Wi-Fi, making Ce La Vi a VERY tricky place to find. Once arriving off the elevators, you are greeted with multiple hostesses who give you the option for their Asian Fusion Restaurant or Rooftop Bar. I was there purely for their rooftop view, drinks, and atmosphere. View and Patio itself was world-class. Could not beat. The service and the staff? It may be because they were bored or it was 6pm but they were awful. No smiles. No greeting. No help whatsoever. I figure that this is a 9pm-2am venue but come on.. Wake up guys! I do like the bar and the view, but I don't like the street it's on. Then again, it may be worth fighting the LKF crowds to get to Ce La Vi.

We had many staff ask after our order but we took a very long time to choose. One of the staff eventually advised us on their best and most popular meals and we ordered the soft shell crab salad, the grilled beef salad and the crispy whole snapper. The food was DELICIOUS. I'm not a crazy fan of Indonesian food or at least I thought I wasn't but the meat was soft and succulent and the sauces and all the ingredients were just divine. Thinking about it is making my mouth water. Service was very attentive and gracious and most importantly the music was perfect. Admittedly probably my taste but more important than that, at least last Friday, was that it wasn't too loud and overpowering. I could have a nice conversation with my husband without having to shout but still had the pleasant ambience of good music playing in the background. I can't imagine it would be too pleasant a meal if the ambience as well as the food hadn't been so perfect.

Relatively reasonably priced cocktails, plenty of vegetarian options and a chic space - the place was good. The drinks and the food, both impressive. The pomelo salad with lime leaf, banana blossom, cucumber and Vietnamese mint was nice and refreshing. The Vietnamese mint has something extra to it, that I quite like. The banana blossoms added that earthiness. Thai dry yellow curry of minced impossible meat with lemongrass was a hit. You could wrap that up in the lettuce cups they served, but I happily ate it without it (because coronavirus and I preferred not to use my hands). Saag burrata - the palak paneer or saag paneer, with burrata instead of paneer was very well executed. Pad thai tasted good, but could've been saucier, if I may. The red curry with pumpkin, tofu, long beans and okra hit the spot on taste and creaminess. The moong dal palak tadka - Indian lentils, while good weren't as great as I can prepare at home. (Yeah, modesty goes for a toss :p) The nasi goreng is hard to mess up and was decent. The only disappointment on the food was stir-fried okra. It didn't taste or look stir-fried and was very raw. If it were just the hubster and I, I would've probably have it re-done.  The drinks were refreshing and tasted well. I had one Hot Mama -gin, ginger, chili and homemade ginger beer with dried citrus fruit. This was followed by a Lemon Chilli Martini - vodka, limoncello, pink grapefruit and lemongrass syrup with chilli and again, dried citrus fruit.  The hubster had a Pineapple Kaffir Lime Margarita - tequila, triple sec, pineapple juice and kaffir lime leaves with a dried slice of pineapple.  After a quiet dinner, it was quite a task to get the children to wrap up and get home.  Pictures on the blog - thevegetarianvoyager
