This review is purely based on my experience at the bar and rooftop area. Sevva is fairly upscale, yet casual rooftop bar located in Central District. The views from above are excellent! On one side you can see the beautiful harbor, while on the other side you get to see the skyscrapers of Hong Kong. Additionally, the atmosphere is laid back and relaxing, which I highly enjoyed. As for the drinks and snacks, it seems limited and a bit overpriced. However, you have to keep in mind you are mainly paying for the view. Service wise, it was attentive and friendly. Overall, this isn't the best rooftop bar in Hong Kong, but the views are nice and worth the visit if you are in the area and have time to kill. read more

I've heard great reviews at this place before coming here. Unfortunately, other than the views and interior, all else is a bit subpar. Food was decent but it wasn't amazing for that price tag. Service was mediocre at best. Perhaps it's only worth it for the view and thats all. We've ordered 4 dishes: an appetizer of lobster crepe, a spinach/asparagus risotto with white truffles, a wagyu tenderloin, and a ginger cheesecake. Most of the dishes were good. Appetizer was a good start, lobster was poached just right, its sauce was aromatic and flavorful. Wasn't a fan of the cantonese take on the tenderloin. So that dish was a double take where the main tenderloin was served with an onion sauce with strips of meat stir fried in. Sauce was ok, a bit on the sweeter end since it's full of carmelized onions. The strips of meat were just over done. I was very surprised about how the server doesnt ask how I'd like my meat. I definitely don't enjoy my meat being medium. And I'm sure that poor little cow didn't want to be ruined at medium. The tenderloin was luckily still tender enough, i wasn't ready to eat boujee beef jerky. I enjoyed that risotto. The color combo of the green veggies and edible flowers made the dish quite pleasing to the eye. Dish was on the lighter end, the shaved truffles didnt overpower the whole dish. And now, that disastrous dessert. Considering how people say that they've enjoyed tea services here, I would expect amazing desserts. The ginger cheesecake was just ok at best. The entire cake was bland, the texture was not creamy enough, crust was so moist. The whole thing crumbled harder than an oatmeal bar. The only thing interesting was the ginger candy up at top, the only ginger tasting part. Might just be the service culture in general. I was expecting 1-2 servers for designated tables, checking in occasionally, and all that jazz. I mean, you have a dress code, I think I can set a minimum expectation on hospitality. Yet, i find myself waving down different servers as they pass by. Nothing gets said about dishes either. Not even a brief summary on how each dish is served. I just get the shorten name of the dish. We went to Sevva for New Years. It is on the 25th floor. It has gorgeous views of Hong Kong waters on one side (absolutely gorgeous) and the skyline on the other. The Hong Kong skyline is probably 2x the size of Manhattan skyline so it is amazing. The server was very pushy and very impatient for us to order drinks. Did not give us time to look at the options. Also the drinks are very very expensive. Overall it was a pleasant experience and we enjoyed our time there. Will recommend you go there once if you have not been. The lemon one was better than the toffee crunch since they rotated w/ some crunchy layer for texture. While I appreciate lemon cakes, this was way too tart though. Attempted to order the truffle Mac and cheese 4x by 2 different servers. One told me he'd check and let me know but never mentioned it again. Can to say Top Shelf!!! Just had another fantastic time and meal at Sevva. 24th floor, with million dollar views. The service starts as soon as you walk in, greeted by two host. One continues as the other walks you to your table. Ordered the Set Lunch, picked the Salmon Fish Cakes with the Wok-Fried Wagyu Beef and it came with Ice Cream and tea. The Salmon Fish cake was crispy on the outside and moist and tasty on the inside. The Wok-Fried Wagyu was so tender you could cut with a spoon, I did use my knit. The flavor was sweet with and had asparagus pieces with mushrooms. Dessert was fresh ice cream with strawberry's, and this was the one dish that needed one more scoop. This place is covered by local socialites, and the kind of foodies that chases after trends rather than flavours. A friend of mine managed to get us an afternoon tea booking -- she claimed it was fully booked, and really hard to get! I must admit, that got my expectations up, and on top of that, their cakes that was showcased at the entrance were rather beautiful looking! I haven't had the cakes ever, and I've heard good things about it, but I suspect a lot of it is just marketing and packaging, based on my tea experience here. After my meal here, I don't think I will ever be back. Where do I start? The place was pretty empty as we arrived at our time of reservation, unlike what I was led to believe. There weren't too many people at the rooftop area, and at some point we were the only people having high tea. They sat us at some Victorian-style couches with a coffee table, which was at knee height and very awkward to eat at, and unfortunately it was at a lower level than the rooftop so you could barely see the view outside. One thing I immediately noticed was how cold the air-conditioning was, and I was quite uncomfortable and cold. Food and hot tea usually solves that, especially if the food comes in three tiers. But alas, I was disappointed when the food came. There was only one of every single item, and each piece was quite large, making it much harder to eat with your fingers, but not large enough to share. The food tends... American? There were sliders, tarts, sponge cakes... even a tacky chocolate-and-sprinkle-covered strawberry (yes, ONE). None of the food was memorable. They were underwhelming at best, and the desserts were so bland, you couldn't really tell what they were meant to be if you weren't looking at the colors. Did I mention how cold the air-conditioning was? Usually the food at tea is served cold, but when it involved a beef slider... the slider quickly turned cold and chewy in the air-conditioning and I'd rather have a fresh McDonald's burger. The tea? Forget about it girl. It became iced tea the moment it was poured out of the teapot. On top of this, the food was not even cheap. It rivaled the tea at Ritz Carlton in terms of prices, and the service was forgettable and minimal. I don't think the waitstaff even came to refill our hot water. It took us forever to get their attention for the bill, and again, the place wasn't even close to 1/4 filled. Needless to say, I highly recommend bringing your $$ and tastebuds elsewhere. Unfortunately, because food and social media are such essential parts for Hong Kong people, anything that looks remotely instagrammable always gets the most recommendations, despite the actual quality and service. Located at the fancy pants Price Building in Central, they don't take reservation for after teas.. it starts at 2:30 but you will always see a line before it starts especially on the weekends. So the food., my friend and I shared a signature tea set for 2, it was $720HKD + 10% service charge, so it's a little over $100USD. It came with a lot of finger food like spring rolls, some salmon and chive cream toasts, crabmeat and prawn salad slider, mushroom ragout on rice cracker, salad on cucumber, ham and brie, etc all of them are simple stuff maybe except the foie gras mousse. The dust magnet cushion covers too, they look like Oscar the Grouch on acid. I told them it's my freaking birthday, I would expect a cupcake with a lit candle onto it. Let me shed some light on how to get there. Walk into the HSBC Tower building (by architect Sir. Foster). You will find an elevator that will take you straight to Sevva. And that probably explains why I didn't come here as often as I used to be... =) They have undoubtedly one of the best views of the Harbour from the Island side, and it reflects properly on the price of the drinks and food. Don't expect seats on the balcony - they are reserved for people who pays for the minimum charge of whatever grands, and the best spots next to the edge are all tall, standing tables. Kind of an arrogant design, but hey, they have the best view of the Harbour... Just before 6:00pm it is perfect, bankers got off work and the sneaky accountants who come here for an early drinks have to go back to their office (on the same building). After 7pm it is often overcrowded, and depends on what kind of dates you are having, you may run into way too many friends, colleagues and clients than you should. If you are persistent enough to stay past 8pm, boom, a Symphony of Lights. For everyone I come with for the first time, I will always tell them the anecdote about HSBC Headquarters. Sevva is by far my absolute favorite bar in HK and here's why. They have a fabulous outdoor patio with a spectacular view of HK. It's right next to the HSBC building, so be prepared to have your visual senses stimulated by a load of bright lights! Aside from the view, the desserts are also bomb.com. My favorite is their famous crunch cake! The servers could probably have been a teensy more attentive-- we had to ask for hot water at least 3 times before it was brought over to us. With that said, Sevva is definitely a bit on the higher end side. Don't be surprised if you pay upwards of $20 USD for a drink! Even though they open until 2 am, final call for drinks end around midnight. They have a nice and spacious outdoor seating area. My friend took me to Sevva for afternoon tea during my most recent visit to the 852 (Hong Kong) and I was pretty happy with the whole experience. Located inside a high end shopping mall, we came here at around 330 during a weekday. The moment we exited the elevator, we were greeted nicely by the host and offered free coat and bag check service. Since it was a pretty hot and humid day, we decided to sit inside instead of the patio. Patio is beautiful here so if the weather is good, i highly recommend sitting at the patio. They have two afternoon tea set and my friend went with the one that has sweets and savory food and it included two drinks for around $800 HKD for 2 people, tips included. If you are deciding between the coffee or tea, I recommend going with the tea because tea is bottomless versus the latte is not. Food was great, but not overly impressively, but the way they display the food was fantastic. The tea and latte were great as well, but the best thing about this place is the the view, as it is amazing, pretty much every picture you take at Sevva is Instagram worthy. So as we were nearing the end of our tea set, the server brought out this fantastic looking cake with a big cotton candy on top. We were pretty amazed that the tea set would come with such a big item, which would make it a great value contrary to reviews, and we even verbally expressed our amazement. We honestly believed that it came with our set, especially since the tables around us all got their own cake too, and the server said nothing to correct us. Well, when the bill came, turns out the cake was an extra 620. We were shocked, if only because we didn't anticipate the extra charge, having neither placed the order nor seen it on the menu. THE SHADY PART is that when we mentioned it to the server, she immediately admitted that they had made a mistake and served us a cake we didn't order. It was like she already knew and was just hoping we wouldn't notice the bill. The thing is, we did eat the cake and it was pretty delicious, so my problem isn't having to pay for the cake or not -- regardless of the resolution, I don't like the feeling that this allegedly high end establishment is trying to trick us. If you want a truly luxe afternoon tea experience, with high end service and fantastic views from above, I would highly recommend Cafe Grey Deluxe at Upper House. If you want a slightly more casual experience with high end service and fantastic harborside views, I also highly recommend the Intercontinental. So once you are here, you can chill out in the air conditioned interior or grab an awe-inspiring view of of Hong Kong by walking out to the outdoor/rooftop balcony. To the right, you will see the HSBC and Bank of China Towers; to the left, you will see Victoria Harbour and Kowloon. WOWZER! The view itself is enough to drop your jaw. So that's it, just head back down the elevator if that is all you wanted. Why? The drink prices are steep. I ordered a Guava Mojito for HKD175. That is pretty much a $30 drink. That is like the most I have ever paid for one drink EVER. It was a great drink, don't get me wrong. The sound of fruit in drinks is always a bit sketch cuz the drinks usually end up coming out super sweet but it actually wasn't. You also don't taste the rum so it's a hidden killer. After grabbing a few shots (as in photos) with the background of HK, we decided to walk around so we grabbed our drinks and looked around. What happens next? Almost immediately, the waiter tracked us down with our check. A bit pushy in my opinion but I guess people can pretty much exit and they will be down $30...Either way, it didn't feel right in how they approached it. Anyways, we paid and grabbed another look and left to visit other bars in Central. The views and the drinks are very good. For the price, I don't think it is worth it but I guess it is worth a try. Never a big fan of this place- it's mostly for pretentious people who want to see and be seen. However I must say the place is tastefully decorated, thanks to Bonnae Gokson, global socialite and style maven (Ms. B, yes, the cake Ms. B) and sister to fashion doyenne Joyce Ma (yes, of Joyce Boutique) Food is beautifully presented but nothing to write home about. Cuisine is global comfort food (or the many of Ms. B's favorite things), amped up with expensive ingredients-so there's no way it could taste bad. Honestly. My personal favorite is the upmarket pork chop rice (yes, the tomato-y, Cha chan teng kind). Made with breaded Japanese kurobuta pork, Taiwanese pearl rice fried with shelled sweet peas (as opposed to frozen green peas) and smothered in homemade ketchup (as opposed to the Del Monte variety) and then baked to perfection, the finer ingredients offered a delicate and luxurious take on this local favorite. At $200+ a pop, it ain't cheap. Many enjoy the restaurant's rooftop bar the view of which rivals that of China Club's (its more or less the same piece of view they're sharing, since both restaurants are across from each other. We only got drinks here. There's an extensive menu of inventive sounding cocktails, but the execution doesn't seem to justify the price as each drink runs about HK$175, or about US$21-$23. You're really paying for the view of the harbor/bay. The seating for sofa/table seems to be on a reservations basis. Since we were asked to move after seating ourselves when another party left. However, just after we were asked to move, a Caucasian mother-daughter pair sat there and were given the same spiel, BUT allowed to stay there until the mythical customers with RSVPs arrived! Without reservations, you'll be stuck standing at a table or a circular sofa that's not conducive to groups of more than 2 people. It's located near the financial center so most of the people here look like ex-pats. If you're looking for an authentic local experience, this is not it. Overall, we were super unimpressed as this was our worst experience in Hong Kong. 1 star for the view and 1 for the nice restroom. Zero stars for service. read more

There's not much I can say about Sevva that hasn't been said before. It seems to be the best rooftop bar to get a great view of the city. It's almost a mandatory spot for first timers in Hong Kong. The drinks are expensive, so just come for one. The Woolloomooloo rooftop bar is also a great vantage point and drinks are a bit cheaper, if you're looking for another option. It's very cold up on the rooftop, much colder than ground level so wear a lot of layers and a thick jacket. read more

This review is for their afternoon tea. No reservations. Lines start around 2ish for afternoon tea service starting at 3pm. There are a lot of things to not like about this place: 1. The service. Or the lack thereof. The waitresses, waiters, hostesses are all extremely rude. They do not care about their customers and think they are god. 2. The afternoon tea set comes with only 2 selection of tea. Earl Grey and English breakfast. If you want any other type of tea, it's an ADDITIONAL COST. The tea set is priced on the higher end, it is crazy to charge your customers more money for a different type of tea!! 3. They don't have tap water. You must order bottled water. 4. The afternoon tea set is for TWO, yet they only give you 1 for some items. ONE chocolate-dipped strawberry? Are you fuckin' kidding me? How would you like us to split that? 5. Despite poor service and waiters who are not very bright, Sevva has one of the best views of HK in the outdoor area. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the place to go to enjoy with friends. The Marie-Antoniette or King Louis cakes are uber yummy. Or go for simple cakes like the crunch cake. If you don't want to have any alcohol, their tea is good too. This fancy place isn't cheap. Great place to bring friends from overseas to see the beautiful view of the Victoria Harbour. read more

Excellent food, beautiful views, live music on the patio/terrace. It's a bit pricey but worth checking out at least once if you've never been to HK before and want to grab a drink or do dinner with great views and a nice vibe. It's right in the middle downtown Hong Kong. read more

I personally love this place. The only reason I'm not giving Sevva 5 stars is because it's so damn expensive and at night, it's really hard to find any seats. A big plus, though, is that there are quite a few standing tables near the balcony. The views are spectacular. You get a great view of the Harbour and the Central buildings. Definitely a great place to take a date or just to take pictures because there's no cover charge. My tip: if you're not willing to pay for the drinks, go up, take a few pictures with your friends, chill out, then go back to LKF and have fun :) read more

In the old days before there was Sevva, Felix was probably the best place to go in terms of a good view and making the whole experience really special. Aqua was also good too and the view plus the décor made an excellent choice if you were out to impress. Both these locations had the same problem though: they are on the other side of the harbor. If you had just left work, it hardly seems worth the effort climbing all the way over there. Sevva is perfect for this exact reason- even though there are tonnes of bars in the Central area, there wasn't actually much to go for in this particular area. Not since no. 9 closed anyways and they are not even in the same category. Sevva is a location that gives you the view, the setting, the whole top notch experience that I have found it hard to replicate anywhere. Sitting outside for happy hour (provided its not a boiling day by that) gives you the complete close up view of Central- not from the other side of the harbor but right by the side of everything. That cosmopolitan flavor falls into place very quickly and it adds that little bit of flavor to it. Drinks are reasonably priced for a location like this- you'd be wonder why there weren't more expensive as I'm sure people will still come. There is a restaurant inside but I have not eaten here so can't comment. From the looks of it though it doesn't look bad at all- something on the bucket list then. read more

Sevva has one of the best views from a bar/restaurant. I've never heard good things about the food so I've never been in the restaurant. Despite how hot Hk is and its a rooftop bar they don't allow shorts for guys. The drinks are expensive, varying quality, service poor quality so the only thing that keeps it open is the view and bankers/lawyers trying to feel important. read more

Dope view, after work scene for many of the expats that work around the area. Prices for drinks are a bit steep (150-185 HKD) but I guess that's HK standard for the location and view the place provides. I would definitely come back for the drinks and the view. read more

Three stars for the view of central ! Zero star for the services! It's really slow and very hard to get services until you decide to complaint! For the price they charge, customers would expect better service quality! It's a venue for guest out of town, but if you work in Central HK, there are much better venue to go after work! read more

A great place for a cocktail and enjoy a unique view of the HSBC building on the patio. The staff is attentive and the menu has a great selection. If you enjoy a meal make sure you save room for a dessert. read more
