As for the dishes, our favorites were the Baked Bun with BBQ Pork and Steamed Egg Cake, which they are known for and indeed taste delicious. Hubby liked their Pan Fried Turnip Cake. We also liked the Glutinous Rice Dumpling which was 1 huge leaf wrapped steamed rice with meat (law mae gae). The Steamed Rice with Chicken Feet and Spareribs was another tasty dish. The Steamed Pork Dumpling with Shrimp (har gow) and Deep Fried Dumplings filled with Pork (ham sui gwok) were OK but was smaller than usual and didn't stand out. This is the kind of Cantonese cuisine that dreams are made of…read more Golden Bauhinia, or better known as 金紫荊 (Kam Ji King) has been consistently one of the best Cantonese restaurants I've experienced in Hong Kong. Situated smack dab in the heart of Wanchai at the ritsy Hong Kong Convention Center, this establishment serves top notch high end Cantonese fare directly facing the water and skyline of Tsim Sha Tsui. While their Dim Sum hour is popular for certain reasons (daytime ambiance, quality dishes, etc.), the real time to experience their food is during their sumptuous dinner service. If you are going for Dim Sum, consider doing the Monday-Saturday special, which is $198HKD and unlimited servings. Considering the unique twists on their dishes, this is an excellent deal. Certain dishes to look out for: pan fried truffled scallops (黑松露煎帶子皇), pan fried chicken stuffed glutinous rice (蛋煎糯米雞), crab claw wrapped in watermelon and egg white (西施百花蟹鉗), and the deep fried crab shell stuffed with crab meat (銀絲焗釀蟹蓋). Regarding dinner, everything I've had has been divine. I don't use that word often, but the food certainly merits it all the praise. Michelin nods and Yelp stars don't do the food justice, but never sleep on their constantly changing menu. Most everything is seasonal, but all consideration should be made for any chef specials of the night. Their barbecued suckling pig (鴻運乳豬) is a highlight ($1400HKD whole / $780 half) and is perfectly crispy throughout. This is beyond the tasty siu yuk (燒肉) of the street, this is heavenly and is loaded with flavor. No condiments are necessary (though they provide plenty), this can be easily enjoyed on its own. The same can be said for the roasted goose (潮蓮燒鵝) which has similar vibes for tender meat and crispy skin, which is $500HKD for an entire goose. Their version of crispy pork belly (明爐燒腩肉) is beyond wonderful at $158HKD a plate, but as always, I wish there was more. I have always made it a point to eat shrimp and scrambled egg (蝦仁炒蛋), but their version is shrimpless and instead has scallops and black truffle (黑松露帶子炒滑蛋 - $188HKD). It is simply next level to the point where I still think about how wonderful this dish was. The same goes for their poached milk lobster and egg white (龍蝦炒大良牛乳 - $480HKD) and their "Imperial" bird's nest soup with egg whites and crab meats (芙蓉蟹肉官燕-$438HKD) might be the best I've ever had. Their crispy fried chicken (炸子雞) actually includes Yunnam ham and walnuts (孖寶脆皮雞). It is indeed crispy and the meat is gloriously juicy. At $488 for a whole, it could also stand to be bigger but I would venture the same for their wagyu fried rice (頭抽和牛菜粒炒飯 - $188). I also really enjoyed their Yee-Fu noodles loaded with spicy eggplant and kurobata pork (魚香茄子黑豚肉炆伊麵). Don't order a regular bowl of rice, shoot for their slow cooked bowl of rice that has been stewed in fresh crab meat (鮮蟹肉泡飯 - $98 each). It is all so-so-so good that I sigh each time I think about this place. The service is impeccable. They're extremely knowledgeable on most dishes and can provide recommendations while accommodating certain diet preferences. Reservations are best and be sure to request for a window table for the view. Groups will likely be sat in private rooms. At Golden Bauhinia, one can be guaranteed one of the most luxurious and certainly tastiest meals on the entire island.

Food quality is good, sugar glazed barbecue pork buns are always an item welcome on my dining table, especially if the bun isn't overly doughy and the glaze is light and crusty. Vegetables were fresh and crunchy- as you'd expect of this price point, and their flour rolls (腸粉) were excellently some- light, no floury textures, and they didn't overpower the soy sauce. Siu Mai were soft, but the addition of the shrimp added a nice crispy texture. The black truffle however didn't really make much of a meaningful contribution. Their deep fried taro pastries were quite noteworthy, in that all of it was very light, and surprisingly wasn't greasy in appearance or mouthfeel. Would I recommend this place for a casual family lunch or dinner? Probably not. It simply doesn't make sense considering the price point. On the other hand, this place would be great for special occasions or those times when you simply wanted to impress someone.

Moon Moon Restaurant is located in the Hong Kong Jockey Club and since a local friend who took us around the island is a member at this club though it'd be the perfect spot for lunch and indeed it really was. Though there was no race scheduled for this day there was a group playing field hockey which I don't know how it works but is nice to see a bit of activity regardless as we have a Birdseye view of the field. The restaurant is quite large and am impressed of how clean a vibrant the vibe is as many seem to enjoy dining here and the view itself is just to relaxing and stunning versus a sold wall is just very airy and refreshing. We were treated to a wonderful meal as Andrew ordered for us which I know is difficult considering many do have a variety of palate including myself and another person having a shellfish allergy is so greatly appreciated. Honestly as it all was a complete blur even though he mentioned everything that was ordered they all instantly dove in along with endless hot tea that really balanced it all was just spectacular and an excellent choice for us to enjoy and take the glory that Hong Kong has to offer. Only one vehicle per member is allowed to park in the structure. Andrew's wife had to park their second van "very far away". Uhg... Andrew ordered for us and kept in mind that two people in our party of ten have shrimp allergy. I couldn't take photos of every dish because most of our group are non-Yelpers and they were very hungry. We enjoyed items such as crispy dried noodles with sauce on the side to keep the noodles crunchy; deep fried spring rolls with black Truffle; shrimp dumplings; cha siu bao; deep fried mochi with duck filling (hom sui gok); and steamed honey sponge cake. Service was accommodating - especially when forks were requested for people who don't use chopsticks.
