The space is cool, the food is good, the drinks are interesting, and the service was fine. Why not 4 stars? Prices are higher than I would like, and service was, as I said, fine. I would have liked a more attentive server who didn't cast a disdainful eye over my hoodie and then seat me by the door.
Still, that wasn't about to stop me from enjoying my time here! I started by attentively studying the cocktail menu - it's intricate with much to offer. Finally, I settled on one of the most interesting drinks I've had in ages, made with curry leaf infused white rum, peach liqueur, apricot brandy, sour mix, and topped with molecular ginger beer foam with curry leaves, at $88 (about 11.50 USD if you were wondering). It was really lovely.
To eat, I went for the green masaman spinach chicken curry with steamed rice, at $118. It was a pleasantly-sized portion, and quite tasty indeed. A bit on the salty side though. The girls next to me had tried the signature squid ink pad thai, which seemed interesting too, though I was happy in my choice.
Altogether, it was an enjoyable dining experience, partly because I really liked the ambience of the place with many green and growing things all around, low lighting out on the patio, and a nice view of what the chefs were doing in the kitchen, which always fascinates me! Not sure if I will be back, since there are so many other places to try at IFC, but I don't regret either my time or money spent here. read more
