Before I start expressing how I actually felt about the dining experience, I want to specify that my waiter was the best part of this experience by a mile. Mustafa (hopefully this is spelled correctly) was: kind, attentive, incredibly speedy, and inhumanly composed. An absolute delight to have as a server, and frankly while my review isn't particularly positive, I would have found the experience to be borderline 1 star just based on the actual flavors of the food relative to the pricing if not for him having saved the experience. If I could do this dinner again, I would honestly order less food, as you get the same view whether you order a single tasting menu and grab some takeout elsewhere afterwards, but at face value the flavors seemed bold yet feasible, as though they could turn out well depending on the execution. In reality we ended up spending approximately $1200HKD per person on a tasting menu that had one to two memorable items each. We actually spent an additional $98HKD on a dish that neither one of us felt compelled to finish. The second course tempura was more interesting flavor-wise than either of our mains, in part due to the chili infused tempura sauce doing a lot of heavy lifting. We are not generally fine dining individuals, it is an occasion we reserve for special events (this was our anniversary), but we do have enough experience to know that the execution of these dishes was miles away from a single Michelin star, yet commanded prices well above most of the one-star restaurants we've visited. The waiter took plenty of photos to commemorate the experience, and we managed to see both the 8PM "city of lights" show on the businesses spread along the harbor, as well as a fascinating lightning storm directly in front of us in a massive panoramic, which should lead to an unforgettable night, but the quality of the food left us grasping at straws to find silver linings. I wish I could remember this experience more fondly, but every time a family member asks whether we enjoyed the food, we struggle to muster any enthusiasm and at roughly $2,800HKD after 10% service charge I can't help but wish we had gone elsewhere to get better food and just visited some sort of observation deck instead. read more

Let me first start by saying that the management team here is solid. We had a situation with our pizza, and the bar manager, Timothy, handled it professionally and made sure my husband and I were taken care of. That level of attentiveness and accountability is what excellent customer service looks like. We had been looking forward to this since we first reached out in October of last year, as this was a special meal on the final night of our holiday. We left hugely disappointed and extremely displeased with the entire experience. First, we were late being seated at our table, even though we had been in the roof-top terrace for over an hour prior to our booking time. The meal was a gift from one couple to another, and we booked it on the basis of enjoying the taster menu, only to be told when we arrived that this stopped at 9pm. Having checked again, I cannot find any mention on the website that the tasting menu has a time limit, but this is what we were faced with. The music in the restaurant was so loud, we struggled to have a decent conversation, and our request to have it turned down was met with a firm "no". If this is the normal level of music in the dining room, we are absolutely astounded that there aren't several complaints every night. With the noise level and having to push hard to get the menu that we wanted, we decided not to go out of our way to express even more disappointment lest our friends become even more uncomfortable than they already were. Not long after we were seated, we were reassured by the Manager that he wanted to make our experience the best it could be and we took comfort in that, but we were not checked upon again so the opportunity for a discreet conversation and detailed feedback was lost. Finally, although the majority of the food was fantastic - note, majority as not everything was as perfect as you'd expect for the price - the lack of follow-up with us at the end of the evening left a very sour taste in our mouths. Overall, the experience was not worth it, especially the HUGE service charge for poor service. I am personally a huge believer in giving timely and honest feedback, and would prefer to have had this conversation on the night. This is a review for the bar/lounge area called Aqua Spirit on the 30th floor of 1 Peking Road in TST. This stylish bar with the harbor view is one of my top spots where I can gaze for hours (not at a screen) along with an evening at Trocadero, Paris and sunset in Oia, Santorini. My first several visits here was my 2008 Hong Kong trip. On both occasions, we had drinks at sister spot 'Tivo' wine bar in LKF and cabbed it over to 1 Peking. Drinks & views! It was a memorable trip with my friends and to do Halloween in LKF. Fast forward to spring 2016. After a whirlwind thru South Korea, Japan, Thailand, I had a one night stopover (Hyatt Regency in TST) in HKG before my flight back to the States. The next day my UA flight was unfortunately canceled due to mechanical failure. Overheard many complaints from passengers in Cantonese on why they regretted not flying SIA or CX. After several attempts to move us to a different gate, UA told us a plane won't arrive till the next day. I guess that's a valid reason for not making it into the office. After being shuttled back to TST, I remembered I had Trip Delay Benefits on my credit card. I got myself a pair of Y-3 socks, had a nice dinner at Din Tai Fung, TST and proceeded to Aqua Spirit. The space was as wonderful as I last remembered it. I was a party of one and ushered to one of the round tables by the bar overlooking Aqua (restaurant) downstairs and an expansive view of the Harbor. The view is definitely better than Skyfall (Delano) and Mandarin Bar (MO), Vegas and even The Lui Bar, Melbourne. I also tried the breakfast at the 102nd floor Lounge & Bar at the Ritz Carlton ICC but the fog covered most of the view. Maybe the view is better at night on the 118th floor at Ozone. I had the tiramisu and a Grey Goose dirty martini. I felt like an actor that make cameo appearances in TVB dramas. Unfortunately, I didn't get discovered to be the next Chow Yan Fat during my visit (maybe I'll bring chocolate and head go Macau via the new Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macau Bridge in Tung Chung). Very Sex & The City-ish vibes, if you know what's I'm saying. EDM music is flowing and glam vibes all around. Pretty sure my husband and I were WAY underdressed (I was rocking Nike and my Rise Nation L.A. hat), but... Yolo. The cocktails were creative and definitely tasty. 4/5. I would say they were maybe the second best we had in the city during our visit. The light bites were fine to me, but my husband thought they weren't mind blowing for the price point. However, he's a pretty tough critic. And he also picked up our tab. :) Do know that you will be dropping some dough here, but after all, it is HK. Just as you might think, "so, there really IS a God", when you encounter some relentlessly attractive people, who turn out to have a vocabulary of 20 words - all of them found in the "Urban Legend Dictionary of Zombies" - Aqua Spirit, with its pant-dropping spectacular views of the Kowloon is well-balanced by its rather mediocre and slightly-overpriced food. I've been here several times to the bar (second floor) and the restaurant (main level). The food is Japanese-Italian, which means you have dishes that are either Italian (ie. Risotto) or Japanese (ie. Sashimi) - and not necessary a clever fusion of both. If you enjoy large white plates that house two or three portions of something smaller about the size of your big toe, accompanied by a splash of a sauce and a sprig of some leafy vegetable, or a weird looking root vegetable, this is the restaurant for you. The main course here is the view, with the floor to ceiling windows view of the water...and perhaps your wallet with the money inside. The few times we sat at the bar, we had pretty boring cocktails with fresh sashimi, edamame and some other fried thing - totally forgettable. The other times in the restaurant we've had better luck with the various pastas or seafood - but the portions were quite small, like you're on a low-cal, low-IQ diet, where there wasn't enough food that you still had to pay through the nose for. On another recent visit, my partner and I spent about HKD1300 for two main courses, two glasses of wine and one shared app. What draws people back to this place with all the four-star reviews is the ambiance and the view. It's a great place to bring a significant other or a client and a great way to experience all that Hong Kong has to offer - views of the water, great sexy, ambiance, haphazard service, high prices, and just OK food. read more

But, who knew this place would be giving us the surprise and the best gift of all which is an amazing skyline view of Hong Kong along with a spectacular light show of the buildings that starts at 8pm. Atmosphere is posh and luxurious with a feeling of sexiness in this dimly lit restaurant. Staff was courteous, friendly, attentive and the price matches the quality of the dishes. Most everyone ordered the steaks and all were cook to perfection with loads of flavor and taste. Well you get what you pay for here and warning the price is steep. Depending on if you are in the lounge upstairs or on the dinning room floor below, you'll be impressed by the breathtaking view of the harbor. Came here for dinner as a special treat and reserved one of the window seats. It's a u shaped booth with a table in the middle. We got here just a little before 8pm and got to watch the laser light show in the harbor. They have a la carte items you can order or you can opt for the dinner set. The view would have been wonderful, but the panoramic windows were filthy and you could barely see out of them, they need to clean their windows. Next, we ordered 3 drinks, (a glass of wine and 2 cocktails) they never brought out the 2 cocktails, only the wine. We asked continuously where are our cocktails, and they said oh we are making them. It was not busy inside the restaurant and there were 6 employees by the bar, yet our cocktails never came out. The food was tasty, yet very overpriced, and not worth it. Once the bill came, we said for them to take off the 2 cocktails that we never received, they took them off the bill, and acted like they did us a favor. There was a 10% service charge on the bill; and we asked if the tip was included? The waitress lied and said no; that wasn't for the servers, so my friend left another 20% not knowing. So we felt ripped off, and the server got $70 American dollars for horrible service and a view with filthy windows. I can assure you there are much better places in Hong Kong to dine at. We could tell the Asian waiter was clearly an inferior counterpart. Never corked open a wine bottle in his life. However, everyone was polite and prompt In helping us take group pictures. The menu was quite hefty, so most of us opted for the tasting menus. There was two, Italian and Japanese. Italian was: Quinoa salad with crab, avocado, and cucumber Cavatelli pasta with seafood(tomato sauce) Baked beef cheek with porcini mushroom mashed potatoes Molten lava cake with vanilla ice cream Japanese was: Sashimi platter (see picture for details) Spinach roll, and tempura Grilled angus beef rib eye Water manju with walnut paste on monaka wafer with cream cheese ice cream Top 3 dishes were the baked beef cheek, the bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, and lastly the angus beef steak. This had to the inspiration for Shakespeare's love of tragedy. This rating is only for the "Italian" dinner half-of-the-menu...seems even more odd writing that out. Save money and get the same view, with less risk to your health, and shoot yourself out of a cannon from atop the Peninsula hotel. The skin of the sea bass is soggy and the fish tases frozen, the ravioli tastes like a runner up to Chef Boyardee, and the service feels like they're only happy if you're miserable. The menus look like guests attempted to consume the fake leather waiting for ANY waitstaff to show up as they're worn out and old along with the decor and table furnishing (chairs, etc) which probably saw better days...back when the restaurant first opened. Service could not be worse; trying to make it better would only make the situation less poetic....because NO VIEW of Hong Kong is worth this price. read more

If you're looking for a lively bar with really loud clubbing music, this might just be the place for you. First I'll talk about the PROS. Once you walk in, the set-up makes the view of Hong Kong so pretty! They have mirrors on the wall that reflect the skyline to make it look really long but in reality, you can only see a part of it. The bar area is less than half the size of their dining area but we didn't have any wait on a Friday night. Now for the CONS. I like my lounges to have quieter music so I'm not shouting in order for people to hear me. Sometimes, the music was so loud that I had to plug my ears!! In my opinion, a club should be a club and a lounge should be a lounge. It just doesn't work when a club has soft music right? Well then vice versa. It's also super dark in here and the waiters couldn't see us 90% of the time so we had to pray that they came close enough to see our waving hand. Also, the darkness gives a sense of "invisibility" for those couples that get a little TOO tipsy. You don't know how many times I thought to myself "Please....please get a room. I don't need to see that tongue action every time I want to talk to my friends". It just gave an overall "trashy" vibe. As you can tell, I had a pretty bad experience here but the view and drinks made up for an extra star. I was looking to experience a "bar with a view" in HK before I left, so I did some research. I'm so thankful I chose Aqua Spirit! I came by myself (female) around 6:30pm on a Friday. Luckily--because I had arrived before 7pm--I could sit at a table that normally requires a 300$ HK minimum per person. The bar is on the mezzanine level looking over the restaurant, and then out over the harbor. The views are absolutely stunning!!! For a table propped up against the window, you need to make restaurant reservations. But don't let this deter you at all--the views are a.b.s.o.l.u.t.e.l.y stunning. I ordered a gin and tonic (about 130$HK). Bar snacks (chips, peanuts and olives) arrived, and later a tray with small bites of smoked salmon, mozzarella di bufala and prosciutto came (included). My waitress was wonderful. She was attentive, but not SO attentive where you get the feeling that they want to boot you out. I stayed for about an hour, and left so they could use that table with a higher minimum for people coming to view the Symphony of Lights. The ambience was perfect. The lighting was perfect. The music wasn't too loud. Nobody bothered me as a single female patron. Again, I'm SO glad I chose Aqua. read more

Let's be clear, this place is not cheap, not even close to being anything on a budget. It's a splurge place. However, that view is indeed priceless. I didn't eat anything here, instead went to the bar. This is primarily a gin bar. There gin stuff was okay, but nothing really way out there in creativity per say. I think this has to do with the reality that most customers who do come here are not looking for creativity, but just run of the mill items to enjoy the view. The food is a mixture of japanese and italian (only in Asia) - which surprisingly worked well. Sashimi, foix gras, wagyu beef and delicate handmade pasta - all went down well with Australian wine. I'd recommend this restaurant for those looking for a once in a lifetime experience. But only once. As expected, it is very expensive for the style of dining the restaurant provides. It's not tablecloth, and it's not exactly 'fine dining' but it will likely break the bank. Also as others have mentioned, it probably wouldn't be worth the same value without the view. The spectacular view from Aqua Spirit on the 30th floor of One Peking is worth the price of one of their very expensive drinks (average $17USD for a glass of wine, $20+ for a martini/well drinks, $13 for 12oz. or less beer), but not much more than that. From what I've read, I'm glad we decided to skip dinner here. We were seated right away since it was (seemingly) a slow Sunday night (maybe it gets busier later in the night?). Once seated, the service was terrible. Perhaps we were pegged as tourists (granted we were) but that was no reason for the inattentiveness. My friends each ordered an Asahi beer and I got the Aqua Queen (long drinks section of the menu). It was a tasty specialty drink (a mixture of fresh apple, Smirnoff Black vodka, peach schnapps, with a splash of cranberry and pineapple juice) but kind of weak with too much ice considering the price. After we received our drinks, the waitress never came back over to us to check to see if we were satisfied or even to offer us another drink once we finished our first. We had planned to each get another but by the time we finally got her attention, we were over it. Our three drinks totaled $55USD, so it was probably good we didn't get that second drink. The one thing Aqua Spirit has going for it was the floor to ceiling windows overlooking Victoria Harbor and the Hong Kong skyline is absolutely amazing on a clear night. If you can get a table by the window for the nightly light show over the harbor at 8pm, it's even better. read more
