They're a family run business, which is pretty rare for Hong Kong these days. Despite the pandemic and inflation, they've somehow managed to keep their food high quality, fresh and delicious, and portions and prices very reasonable.

The built in mapping function in Yelp is also great especially when you're traveling and trying to figure out where things are from your hotel. This was especially helpful since I was not familiar with Hong Kong. Sweet Basil Thai Cuisine restaurant is within a short walking distance to my hotel, The Salisbury YMCA. The restaurant is on the second level of Harbor City mall. Even though I was alone, I was immediately greeted by smiling and very well-dressed staff in traditional Thai silk clothing. The restaurant has about 40 tables. Plenty of four and two tops. Decor is a nice soft and clean contemporary style. I was seated immediately during dinner hours. They have a nice wine list and plenty of choices in the menu. The menus have English language translations for all items. I was definitely ready for some softshell crab and it was on the menu. My dishes came out one by one from the kitchen, were served at the proper temperature, and well presented. I could tell the dishes were all prepared with care and perfect amounts of seasoning. The deep-fried, lightly breaded softshell crab appetizer was perfect. The prawn Penang curry with steamed rice was one of the best I've ever had. My taste buds and tummy were very happy. Service was cheerful and attentive. My bill came in at roughly $57 US after converting from Hong Kong dollars. My credit card was cheerfully accepted here. In summary, I highly recommend this restaurant for excellent Thai food, great service, and nice atmosphere. Next time I'm in Hong Kong (Tsim Sha Tsui) I will definitely get my Thai cuisine fix here.

The food are just like what we expected: paithai with minced beef pasta, pork & chicken satay skewers, fried prawn with signature chili jam salad, green curry vegetables and two desserts. The only disappointing moment - my friend requested and reminded the staffs and manager for a chocolate icing plating as a birthday surprise, reminded them for 4 times and still they forgot about it... Yet they kindly gave as free slides cheese cake dessert with the requested decorations, but it's all good as I had extra cakes.

(unless you have a group of ppl to share more options) My favourite this time is the yogurt drinks, which cost HKD36 @. I have mango coconut while my friend has peach. The balance taste of yogurt and fruits is just right. I actually wanna try their cheesecake series but it sounds too evil for a need-to-lose-weight girl. So... next time XD The prawn pad thai we had was also great. Just that sharing the prawn (only one in the bowl) between me and my friend was a mess. Haha. None of us is good at peeling the prawn.

Wah wah wah! Another hidden gem!…read more The food here is so good and there's quite a few unique dishes!! Seafood is very fresh and tasty. The deep fried tofu is bomb! Super silky and smooth, without a chewy skin. The salted egg yolk shrimps are coated evenly and the shells are edible! The mantis prawns are very juicy and fresh. I also loved the clams soup and the pork chops! Must haves: salted egg yolk shrimps, deep fried tofu, and mantis prawns. Prices are also very fair. Probably even cheaper than many other places that aren't as good! I saw a few michelin signs on the walls, but I'm not sure if it's referring to them or the alcohol they're promoting. But I do think their food is good enough to be Michelin!! It is quite a busy place so be sure to book a reservation!

Also known as "Hing Gung" (慶功), it literally means to celebrate and to reward the hard work the crew put into the show. Much like sik siu, since the eaters are of high exertion, the food would most naturally be as trashy as can be~ Healthy eaters might want to hit the return button now as the foods may be despicably fattening. Deep fried is almost the golden rule for every trashy food, even in Hong Kong; the famous shrimp toast is actually minced shrimp smeared on a piece of bread and deep fried to crunchy perfection; and you got it, the piece of bread is soaked with grease. To make it even more damaging, mayonnaise is served on the side for you to dip the toast in. Damaging as it seems, but it is also very gratifying and is often the dish that is cleared the soonest. Hing Gung is often an event of the nights and there aren't a lot of joint cater to this batch of customers at this time of the day. I still remember walking into this shop with the waiter asking us to wait outside the shop at 11 in the evening, while they were trying hard to rearrange the tables to sit the 15 of us down. For a restaurant that is still crowded towards midnight, you know they must have done something right.
