Food was amazing the most disappointing thing was their dessert choices but overall it was good .

I always find it difficult to eat in PP at a reasonable price. When faced with the prospect, Thai Basil is always at the top of my list. The food is always tasty and fresh. I love the satay and fresh rolls. Deeeelicious. The pad Thai is always a safe choice. The ambiance is great, but the service so-so. Unfortunately the hostess didn't know how to seat people quickly enough and we spotted an empty table, but still had to wait 15 minutes before we could sit at it.

Wednesday lunch time and I don't know where to go. I'm hungry and I just feel like grabbing something quick somewhere because today I didn't bring lunch in. My friend suggests Thai Basil in Pacific Place and as I work close, I decide it's a good option. I had walked past many times and had never noticed the place to be honest. I have a weakness for Thai food, I adore it. So when I go dining to a new Thai restaurant I try to get rid of my bias so that I can judge it properly. As I got there I was impressed by the place, the decoration is great. It is cozy elegant. I sat at the sofa side of the table and felt even cozier! I liked it already. One thing I noticed immediately is the number of staff. They seem to be just way too many - I suspect some of them were trainees as they were only serving drinks. But let me talk about the food: my fried duck in curry sauce was the best curry I have ever had, in Hong Kong, and in my life. Presentation was exquisite; it came in a big plate, with strips of the fatty meat soaked in a mild spicy sauce. My friend ordered the beef curry and I couldn't decide which one I wanted to start with. But the verdict was clear for me after trying both: just go for the duck. I ended up picking some from his plate again only to confirm, I loved my dish. The key wasn't entirely on the sauce but on the meat, that was cooked to perfection, really. I peeked at the next table and even though I didn't know what they had ordered it also looked delicious. For that level of flavor and enjoyment I had, I was expecting a fat bill coming but it was in fact quite reasonable (meal for two 240 HKD). We had to wait for 10 minutes to be sat but provided it was lunch time, in Pacific Place...that wasn't too bad! I'm definitely coming back. The question is will I venture trying something else?

We really enjoyed the open area dining and Asia decor. The food was delicious! I had the wild rice with chicken and grilled pineapple. I would recommend highly

    Pomelo salad

One of my favorite Thai restaurants in the entire world. The pomelo salad is excellent, tangy, bitter, sweet, and a tinge of spice. Absolutely wonderful. Rivals the food I've had in Bangkok and Phuket. I manage to come here every time I'm in HKG. Almost everything on the menu is excellent. The lines are long for lunch. You won't be disappointed.

What's amazing is that they serve up authentic Thai food. I've been here a few times and it's has never disappointed me. Tom Khaa Kai, Pad Thai, and Hanianese Chicken are some of my favourite dishes. There's so much flavour in everything! This is their first branch so the décor has never been updated. Think simple 2nd floor shop. Ma & Pa style decorations and tiny toilets. Their Causeway Bay shop is loads better with décor but it's missing a je ne sais quoi. Some notes: There are loads of dishes that you may want to order a head of time. So check out them menu and give them a call. Also lunch, dinner and bigger parties should book ahead. It's a small dinning room. Would definitely come back!

Apparently every table at the restaurant was celebrating birthdays. With the lead of Chingmy, all the waitresses started coming out and danced along. Although we didn't celebrate anyone's birthday at our table, we enjoyed the vibe and clapped along with the Thai birthday song. When it comes to food, you're rest assured you can get authentic Thai food here. We pre-ordered 2 plates of raw shrimp in advance and they were very fresh! We also ordered some beef and chicken satay skewers, shrimp cakes and fish cakes as appetizers. Oh my lord... the fish cakes were the best I've ever tried! Chewy yet not fishy! For the main course, we had pork knuckles, grilled fish with lemon sauce (served on the grill), curry with deep fried chicken and the stir-fried clams in chili paste. Everything was rich in flavor and simply delicious!!! For dessert, of course we cannot miss the mango sticky rice! There was not one dish that was just mediocre. I must say everything was excellent here! Sawali Club is a private kitchen, so do book in advance and they only accept cash. I recommend this place for groups as you can order many dishes to share.

A friend of mine first introduced it to me. She'd been having her take aways there for dinner and suggested we try one day. Since then I have been a regular to this place. In fact it is conveniently located for me, at a corner just at the end of Amoy Street as you come from Hennessy Road. It doesn't look very exciting from outside and even a little run down, but that's part of its charm. The place is run by four lovely Thai ladies whose kitchen is open to the (rather small) dinning space. The dishes come quite quickly but don't expect them to rush to take your order. The atmosphere is laid back. There are around 6 tables that accommodate for twenty people maximum. Now, the thing I go there for is the food...or should I say the curries and the Tom Yum Soup. If you go for curries, I would suggest you try their pork red or chicken green from the dinner menu. They come in big bowls with plenty of meat and vegetables but no rice (I don't eat rice). I assure you it makes for a big meal and it's just delicious. The curries are mild but you can ask them to make them spicier if you like. I would also recommend you go there at the end of the day because I have noticed their sauces taste better then (they might cook them in the morning and let the sauces soak in the flavor of the spices...). Their prices are very reasonable (around 50-60 per curry dish) and they don't have service charge. It's never very crowded, as opposed to the rest of the places on that same street. Their opening times vary, but they close early in the evening. My little Thai is definitely not a place for a fancy dinner or where I would take a date on the first day but more of a local dinning place with tons of charm and it's great value for money. I have only had a better Thai curry and that was recently, at Thai Basil in Pacific Place. I feel like I should write a review about this place too.
