Excellent service and fantastic food…read more For soup bases, we tried the tomato soup and spicy hotpot soup. For sauce, we paid for the make-you-own-sauce station and I made a mixture with garlic, XO sauce, and soy sauce. You can't go wrong with adding whatever you like into a sauce! For meats and veggies, we tried several types of beef, mutton, fish balls, fish, beancurd, and Chinese veggies. You can order whatever you want on their tablet. We also got the all-you-can-drink tea option with their delicious lemon tea. The waitress was extremely attentive and even gave us a free fried man tou dessert that came with condensed milk for dipping. The mantous had a crispy exterior and soft, warm interior. I couldn't help but indulge. Because we opted for the better quality meats, our total was about $100 USD. A more expensive meal but extremely satisfying and it was money wellspent.

We had a table-side pull of the noodles and it was very entertaining. There is a variety of different cuts/quality of meats that vary in price; so it is easy to stick to your price point if you want. The only thing that would be a bit more expensive; is that if you wanted extra sauces or certain sides; they do charge you per person for those things. I found that with the tomato soup base; there was no need for any extra sauces though. The soup base was flavourful and matched well with all the ingredients. It is important to note that this place is not AYCE; but a-la-carte ordering. We were still quite full nonetheless. All in all; was a great experience and the service is really above and beyond.

Unlike standard hot pot which starts with a pot of broth, here you first received a sizzling, spicy chicken pot. The waitress asked us to wait a few minutes before lifting the lid, so the chicken gets to caramelized and the aroma to intensify. After you finish the chicken, they pour some broth into the almost empty pot to deglaze it, and viola, a flavorful broth is ready for you to begin your hot pot experience. This place offers a lot of varieties of ingredients for dipping into the pot, as well as a variety of drinks. Even though the place is really busy, the staff is pretty nice. The walls are decorated with cute cartoons and even the placemats too has a cartoon showing you how to properly enjoy your chicken hot pot.

You eat the chicken first and then your server adds in the chicken stock so you can hot pot with stock that is now flavored with leftover chicken juices and yummy sichuan spices. Honestly, this should be the only way we should hot pot from now on. But then again, Hong Kong is already on top of it. I'm American. It hasn't reached our shores yet, but it damn well should. On a Monday night (8PM), the wait was an hour long for our party of five. We ordered more food than we can handle, including a whole chicken, and paid HKD $200 (USD $27) each. Notably delicious foods included the chicken (duh), yin yang cuttlefish paste (very bouncy texture), and herng lings (deep fried soybean paper rolls that you dip into the soup for a second). This location is a little weird in a small street, but if you have Google Maps, you should have no problem finding it. Also, this is a chain so you can find one closer to you. P.S. Dishes are half off after 10PM. Ask your server for clarification.

Our first day on vacation in Hong Kong led us to a pretty awesome shabu shabu experience here in…read moreMong Kok. Yahataya is located on the 10th floor of a complex with tons of other hot pot and sukiyaki restaurants all vying for your attention. My friend and I were attracted to their AYCE (and drink!) deal which allowed us free range of the goods. Depending on the time you start your 2-hours, the price may fluctuate a bit. We came at 16:30 so we received the $180 per head deal for the shabu shabu goodness. Even on a Saturday, it was fairly empty inside with servers that looked nonchalant as they were passing out food to tables. Upon seating, you choose your main stock and have your go at the vegetables and cheaper-meats lying on the counter. There's also soft drinks and beer included in your price. The biggest trick here is that you're supposed to order off the "RicePon' app on your device. WHAT!? It took us about ten minutes before we realized that nobody was going to come to our table until we downloaded the app and ordered online. This explains why the service was pretty meh at the beginning- they don't come to you until you order. Nobody even told us we were supposed to do it this way, and I can speak/understand Canto. The app is fairly straight forwarded and if you can't read Chinese, they have photos associated with a majority of their items. Once you select the premium items including thinly sliced beef and pork, sushi, sashimi, etc. they'll bring them out to your table one by one. We ended up ordering three rounds of meat and seafood for our pot and had a blast. The slices of beef were definitely good and the freedom to order non-meat items made this one for the books. If you're looking for a good shabu shabu spot with minimal staff interaction but plenty of food and drinks, definitely check this spot out.

We stopped by after a long morning and looked to feast on some yummy dim sum and that's exactly what we found here. The best dim sum that we had at Dragon Court was probably the 腸粉 (Chongfun) and the 燒賣 (Shumai) and the absolute star of the show was the 叉燒包 (BBQ Pork Buns). The only complaint about the Shumai is that it is a bit pricy for the amount given but most 酒樓 are like that so it's understandable. While those were the top three, the other dim sum we ordered were also decent. I've definitley had better 小籠包 (Xiaolong Bao) and 蘿蔔糕 (Turnip Cake) but it was still very delicious here. This is a place worth stopping by for some good dimsum if you're in the area. Their menu is extensive and their staff is attentive and quick. Overall a great experience spending my noon time tea here.

It's a nice dim sum place close to Ladies' Market and the wait time is short - or at least when I went during peak lunch hours. The pricing is fair, I think it's pretty cheap for dim sum. Try their pigeon, one of my favorite dishes and they made it well. Their XLB's were plump and juicy. However, the noodle soup was bland, so maybe just stick to their dim sum.

For being at a central HK location, a buffet that includes beer & at $22US a pop, this place is…read moredamn good for its taste and value. Oh, might I add FREE WiFi. Avoids the damn lines, get there at 6:30pm as we only had to wait 5 minutes for the elevator queue & zero wait to be seated at a booth on a Friday night. Keep in mind: everything is in Chinese. Even the Scranton Menu is 100% Chinese. So you gotta bring a friend who can speak/read Chinese or utilize google translate. When you get to the host stand, you let them know your spice level & you are offered a whole chicken or a half chicken. Don't matter you change your mind in terms of wanting more chicken as this too is unlimited so get more if your heart so desires. Once seated, you get your sauce (garlic, chili oil, dried chili's), drinks (soda, Coconut water, beer, juices..) random foods out for grabs like dumplings, & tofu skin rolls etc. Then once the chicken pot hits the table, wait for it to cook a little more then you are free to grub. Please have in mind the chicken is a whole damn chicken meaning feets, skin, bones ALL that is in the pots. The chicken is really tasty with Schezwan flavors: Spicy & Numbing. Once you've had enough of the chicken, ask the server to pour in the broth to get the hot pot started. Then order your hot pot goodies! Must orders: fish skin (I know sounds gross! I too was weirded out when my friend ordered it, but you gotta get it. Dunk into boiling broth for 10 seconds & consume), beef balls, corn, instant ramen, collagen, sliced meats (lamb, pork belly, beef), Chinese veggie and any other thing that tickles your fancy. I loved it as I have never in my life eating anything like this before in terms of the flavors & style! Hope y'all enjoy it as much as I did!
