Very trendy, very cute inside, the place to go if you're going out with the girls. Dinner was paced perfectly, everything hot and fresh tasting. I've been here twice and both have been good experiences. The eggplant dip is a must-get (even if you don't like eggplant - try it anyway). I had the watermelon mezcal the first time and the piccante the second - both were well crafted, balanced and delicious. My first visit was during weekend brunch and I splurged got the lobster toast. It was yummy but not worth what it cost. Because the bread served with the eggplant dip is so amazing, I resolved to get pizza on my next visit. My friend ordered the mushroom pizza and it was tasty but my margherita was the clear winner. Our chocolate torte was fantastic! On the second visit, my husband and I both were perplexed about his meal. He ordered the truffle pasta and when it arrived, it appeared to be covered in thin slices of white truffle. The truffle however, had no flavor which was very strange. His dish was overall underwhelming and underseasoned. I like Elephante but it's overpriced, even for Scottsdale. Not a memorable experience last night. The food was okay, but the service was unbelievably slow. Our dinner took 2.5 hours. It seemed like it took almost an hour just to place our order, and our waitress was AWOL most of the night. Food arrived and then we had to wait a while for our silverware to be delivered before we could eat - apparently it was being washed. The restaurant was also extremely loud. We went with a group of six and could barely hear each other across the table. Between the slow service and noisy atmosphere, it made for a pretty frustrating evening overall. My daughter raved about this place (and has been here twice before this visit) so I came in with high expectations. We are a foodie family. Service was a 3 out of 5 star. It was busy so I want to give the waitress some grace but service was definitely something that could be improved upon. We had made reservations for an outside table in advance and we were placed in an area inside that felt like an afterthought. The whipped stracchino appetizer was the best part of the entire meal besides the dessert. The fig and honey with the whipped cheese was delicious and went fast. The main entrees were a bit mixed for us. I had the Tagliatelle Tartufo with a side of steak. The truffle was plentiful and full of flavor however the side steak itself leaned a bit overcooked and tasted burnt. My daughter, who loves Cacio e Pepe, ordered it and felt it was good but not especially memorable. She added a side of grilled chicken, which she enjoyed. My other daughter ordered the watermelon mint spritz, which was refreshing and well-balanced, along with the Gemelli scampi. The shrimp were cooked nicely and the dish had a pleasant combination of flavors. We finished with a latte and chocolate torta, both of which were very enjoyable and a nice way to end the meal. Overall a 3.5 rating. Some dishes stood out more than others and the main courses and experience didn't meet our 5 star expectation's, we unfortunately left this special night a little disappointed. read more

My friend and I went to elephante over the weekend for an early dinner and enjoyed it very much! We started with cocktails and mine was the pretty yellow one, and it was strong with rum, but it was so pretty and tasty. My friend loved her Hugo spritz. We started off with dips and I got the eggplant dip which, if you didn't know, you can get two dips and split the bread for a cheaper price than two separate orders. We also got a Caesar salad which was super refreshing. I loved the amount of pepper and crunchy topping on it. We split the caccio Pepe which is an all time favorite of mine. I love how peppery and indulgent the pasta is. The noodles are super tasty. She also ordered a side of shrimp which she said was good. I've been wanting to try Élephante since it came to the valley and finally got a chance to during Valentine's Day weekend! The interior is gorgeous and this is very clearly a buzzing spot especially for the area. We did wait a few minutes but were promptly seated outdoors which luckily the weather was fine for, my only complaint is the very low table. For cocktails I ordered the 'Pinky Promise' ( Vodka, Espresso, Pink Almond Orgeat, Rose). So basically an espresso martini, which are my favorite. I loved the Valentine themed drink list and the taste was also exceptional. To start we ordered the Whipped Eggplant with Puccia and it was soooooooo delicious. The puccia was fresh out the oven and fluffy, and the whipped eggplant went beyond my expectations. For my entree, I ordered the Vodka Sauce Pasta and wow. This might have become my new favorite. Something about the sauce makes it stand out from your typical vodka sauce and made it that much more enjoyable. Been here a couple times for lunch and dinner and Elephante has not disappointed us so far! Service is always attentive, friendly, and they try to be as accommodating as much as possible. We've tried dishes that were too salty for our preferences and or just tasted okay, but we also found dishes that we absolutely loved. The notable dishes that we have loved so far are the lobster toast, ragu bianco, grilled white shrimp, and the Iberico pork. For dessert, our favorites are the pavlova and the pistachio sundae. The interior is quite spacious, and it can get loud during dinner hours with how busy they get but it still somehow feels intimate. If you're looking for a quieter time I would suggest coming during lunchtime. I would highly recommend making reservations regardless of time of day just to be safe. On one occasion, even with reservations, we had to wait about twenty minutes to be seated. read more

We went here for my birthday dinner. It is a hip place with nice ambience, but FYI it is really loud in the restaurant and not the type of place you want to go to for an intimate dinner. The arugula pesto was bitter but all too thick. - Branzino - it was ok, I didn't read the description and though it had pesto, too; but it was apparently salsa verde butter. Part of the fish had bones in it. - Gemelli scampi - the best entree dish; had a very mild sauce and the black ink pasta and shrimp were delish The desserts we had were weird. They offer 2 options for the complimentary birthday dessert - the chocolate torta and pavlova. We got the pavlova just to try something different - it is a white chocolate meringue with mousse inside, passion fruit sauce, and tres leches ice cream. The meringue was very eggy and the flavors just did not go well together. We didn't finish it. We also got the prickly pear and lychee sorbet. Don't get this if you are expecting lychee- there was no taste of lychee at all. It was an ok experience overall. As far as glasses of wine to complement the cuisine, highly recommend the "Les Charmes" Sancerre (white) and "La Salita" Barolo (red). If you get the burrata spread, add the Prosciutto; and the Stracchino cheese spread shines with the honey add. The pistachio sundae is NOTW, so save room for sure. Elephante was even more delicious than I remember tonight! Still highly highly recommend the octopus and hamachi crudo. The green salad and the eggplant dip were also super yummy - further proof that the small plates here are where it's at. I also tried the broccolini tonight and OMG it's heaven. It's smoky and savory and little bit spicy and it's sooooo good - as good as everything else we had. However, my same complaint still remains: the mains are just average. This evening, I tried the Cacio e Pepe and it was luke warm and the sauce was split so it was like an oil slick with every bite. Cacio e Pepe is one of my all time favorite dishes so it was very underwhelming. I also tried the chicken and while the sauce was good it was honestly dry. I will say that I noticed a lot of reviews mentioned things being salty. For me the salt level is perfect! I like that everything is well seasoned here, but definitely if you are salt shy, maybe mention it when you order because it seems like they definitely finish a lot of dishes with a sprinkling of crispy salt. read more

The gulf shrimp was good, but for the starter I liked the arugula and pear salad. It was dressed well and every bit was very flavorful. The vodka sauce pasta was good, but a little too saucy for me. Soppressata pizza was good especially the crust. They have express lunch which is a three course $40 per person that runs Monday - Friday 12pm to 3pm. Everyone at the table that orders it must participate. Honestly, it says express lunch, it took a while for us to get the food. Service was just okay. One of the best restaurants in the area, but quality of the experience is very dependent on the dish you order and if you have a reservation. Came on a weekday for a walk-in lunch, however it was shocking to see how much priority reservations received compared to the walk in. We were the ONLY ones waiting around without a reservation. The restaurant was half empty, but we ended up waiting for a full hour before being seated, despite being told the wait was initially 20 minutes. Time and time again, we saw folks with reservations come in and get seated ahead of their claimed reservation slot. Had I known it would take a whole hour, we could have booked a reservation ON THE SPOT. I feel like the pre dining experience bled into the actual dining experience. Getting in without a reservation was pretty easy, likely due to my early dinner arrival. Kylie was a great server, she gave lots of good recommendations and was very attentive. For starters, I had the grilled white shrimp and little gem Caesar salad. Both were really good. The shrimp required a bit of intimacy, but the flavor was worth the work. I was pretty indecisive on an entree, so I ended up getting vodka pasta and meatballs to satisfy my uncertainty. Both were really good. The meatballs did not have the best day-after factor, though. When trying to warm them up later, it was not very good. Lastly, the couple at the table next to me ordered the "WHIPPED STRACCHINO" which looked very interesting, so I ordered it as well and OMGGG!!
