The Etna pizza is honestly the best pizza I have ever had. Their dough is unmatched, technically perfect. Never disappoints

Called the restaurant and they were unwilling to re-send correct order and would only refund the 3/5 missing items instead of refunding the entire order. We arrived Saturday evening. Charming ambience greeted us in a cozy dining room. We were greeted and seated immediately. Our Waiter explained the Specials and informed us that many of the items were made fresh on order. This is Old World Style. We appreciated the information, as we were starving ! Luscious warm Ciabatta bread appeared with an accompliment of balsamic and EVOO. We both ordered the. Sicilian Lasagne. A hot ample serving arrived. It was delicious. The gravy was a hearty meat sauce. The ricotta was creamy with the mozzarella oozing. I asked for extra parm and I loved it. For dessert, I chose a cannolli. Wow!! Where do I start. Made reservations for me and my son for 5:30 pm on a Friday, excited because i read amazing reviews of this place, I know how crowed gets downtown roswell restaurants, well this place WAS NOT... they had all walk-in customers seated at the bar (3 couples) me an my son in a corner table and the rest of the 10 tables in restaurant empty for around 45 min. A man didn't introduce himself he offer me something to drink water I requested sparkling water he brought me a glass that I have to wipe myself because it was disgusting I could see the lipstick from previous person who used it. I did in front of hin he did not offer me a new glass. Jennifer was my server, super sweet and very polite girl but honestly she was highly medicated, on drugs or drunk or something but she was not totally right, her hair was messy, her eyes were like gone and she talked mumbling, she kept apologizing for even talking. She brought fresh bread and olive oil with balsamic vinagre which was delicious (and also butter for my son), I decided to order a lasagna which was the special for the night and my son a cheese pizza with black olives, the server decided to bring on her own a sprite for my son (we don't give my 6years old carbonated drinks) but she still apologized and served it, said she won't charge for it, anyways, pizza for other customers who were seating at the bar who arrived 25 min later than us was served earlier than ours, our pizza was fresh and it looked decent but initially my son didn't like it, Jennifer offered to make a new one and apologized one more time, I talked my son into it and he ended eating 1/2 of the pizza, I tried it and it was mediocre, def not like an upscale margarita we have tried in other places. Anyways I sat there no one checked on me for 15+/- more min and finally someone came to kindly offer me flat water so I said where is my food?? She said she would find out and I also asked for a box for the 1/2 pizza seating there. This other girl went to the kitchen and got my lasagna for me, people at the bar were happy and well served and me and my son completely ignored. Other family walked in and sat in front of us, placed their order and I overheard them talking about how weird Jennifer acted and 10 min later she came and said: I backtracked I forgot your order I need you to repeat it, they seemed very shocked with the situation, at that point my son says, I don't want to be seating here anymore I keep getting wet; Well he was seating under a pipe that had a drop over his chair. We waited another 15 min for them to bring the check, at this point people started to come in, I finally managed to get someone to bring me the check and it took another 8 min for them to take the card and swipe it, I said I need that right the way at that point my son wanted OUT.. he lost his patience and some other people waiting at door weigh 4 tables empty. Pro: the lasagna was very flavorful but the pasta was overdone it was very soft and loose and small portion for $22. The pizza is edible Ambiance: music is a soft jazz boring and like a piano bar Tables and chairs beside us were in out and messy the rest looked find but the place is small, tight and dark The walls were naked they had nails but nothing hanging except for 2 paintings by the windows, our table was not stable and moved with every touch. So what a difference a year and a half makes. As you can read below, I didn't have a good experience with my first visit. So there is a new owner, and Sam has done a great job! We went for my birthday. We started with the meatball appetizer and it was fantastic. Almost as good as my mom's :-) I had the eggplant and it was delicious. My son had the chicken parmigiana and it was my favorite! The waiter was excellent and we had a wonderful evening. It has moved up to one of my favorite Italian restaurants!! After reading the great reviews, we decided that we would celebrate my mom's 80th birthday here. With her being Sicilian and the owner being Sicilian we thought it would be a great experience. We made reservations for 7 people and arrived for dinner. We were seated and after 20 minutes of waiting for our waitress I finally got up and ask for one. She was almost rude in her demeanor. We asked the owner to come over to meet my mom and he seem stressed that we asked him to stop by. Finally the meals came. I had the lasagna and it was incredibly bland. The worst of the meal was my son's steak. It had a wine demi glaze that had not been fully reduced and it was probably the worst sauce I ever tasted. I tried it, my wife and my sister in law tasted it and we agreed. As a mater of fact we couldn't get the taste out of my mouth. We sent it back and of course the owner and waitress appeared offended. Warning Will Robinson, Warning!!!! Ignore any review of ZuZZu that is under 5 Stars! While I have not eaten at every Italian restaurant in ATL, I have eaten at Vingenzo's in Woodstock many times, at Price's, Antica Pasta and La Grotta in Buckhead and at others notta wortha mentioning. None of these fine restaurants come close to the culinary delight we have experienced at ZuZZu. Is this A. exaggeration, B. hyperbole or a C. sales pitch.......answer is D...none of the above. This is the truth and if you can handle the truth, read on!! From the Noce salad (at $9 a tab bit expensive compared to the excellent prices on other items) to the $12-14 pasta, the brick oven pizza and the puff pastry dessert, ZuZZu is stunning. This is a very simple, LITTLE place. It is not even quaint. Don't go expecting fine decor, because it ain't there. It's about the food. However, I suspect Salvatore (the owner) will move on to a larger restaurant space with fine decor within a very short time because this little location won't hold him. We spent a half hour after dinner taking to Salvatore, who poured us complimentary Limoncello, to understand why ZuZZu is so superior to every Italian restaurant mentioned above. The ingredients - including flour, cheese and pasta - are imported from Sicily. The two cooks, I was told, are also imported from Sicily and speak little English. But that can't be enough. I've had mediocre food in Italy. Salvatore clearly knows what to do with these ingredients. Is it run as well as the above mentioned restaurants? Not yet. But so what. It just opened a week ago and they will get the operation down. Anyone who has panned this restaurant should be relegated to eating at McDonalds for the rest of their lives, be banned from Yelp and admit that they have a brain tumor the size of an orange that has obliterated their olfactory nerve. (You don't taste with your tongue.) Anyway, there is really nothing more that needs to be said. I would like to say that ZuZZu is the best Italian food in ATL, but I have not eaten at every Italian restaurant in ATL so suffice to say that ZuZZu is probably the best Italian restaurant in ATL. I have never been so disappointed at a restaurant. We got there at 5:40p and there were two couples at the bar and happy to get the last two seats. Long story short we walked at at 7:30 never getting our food. A shame, the couple next to us loved it. After 45 minutes we asked if they forgot to get our order in And were told the kitchen was small. After another 20 minutes we asked again and finally they admitted the computer crashed. Ok, thanks for the truth, all good, but shouldn't you put us on top of the queue? They didn't. We set a walk out time at 730 or if we see other tables getting food. For the longest time we've been trying to find an Italian restaurant that really hits the spot. Olive garden usually disappoints and other places are good sometimes and other times disappoint. Thanks to yelp we found ZuZZu and we are so glad! You start of with some delicious bread and we ordered the special of the day, Lasagna, and spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti and meatballs were some of the best, if not the best we ever had! It was so good!! The Lasagna was alright, not the best. It was $22 which seems high to me for a piece of lasagna and seemed to us like the pasta was overcooked maybe, there was no texture to it. Stopped in here with a good friend not knowing what to expect really. We cannot say enough about the hospitality from the family that owns and runs the restaurant. We ordered the eggplant appetizer which I cannot remember the name of to save my life but I'm going back just for that dish alone. I brought out of town guests with me to Zuzzu as I had heard so many good reviews. Upon arrival we were seated quickly as we had reservations. Our drink orders were taken upon being seated. Unfortunately afterward the service was spotty. The noise level is so loud in the small dining area that we were not able to get our server's attention. On a good note, the flatbread was delicious and the meatball appetizer was so good we were practically licking the plate. My dinner mates were not wowed by the spaghetti and meatballs or the pizza. The owner was very visible, taking time to speak to all of the diners which we liked. Overall a somewhat disappointing experience, we may return on a less busy noisy evening in the future. read more

We recently had dinner here and it was outstanding! It was over Labor Day weekend and they were short staffed. They did an amazing job despite this! We started with a white pesto pizza as an appetizer. They have a wood fire pizza oven so we didn't want to miss trying the pizza. It was to die for! The crust was perfect and the pesto and fresh mozzarella were perfection! My kids both had spaghetti & meatballs and they loved it. I was really hoping for a better dining experience due to the raving reviews that have been posted so far. However our experiences this evening was subpar. We were only given 3 menus to share for a party of 7. Half of the items on the menu were marked off completely or for 'lunch only'. In fact the pasta primavera I ordered had to be canceled because I wasn't given a 'current menu'. There are no kids menus or kid options on the regular menu. So my kids were paying full adult prices for their entrees. The wine menu was very weak and the pour was even weaker. The staff seamed a bit frazzled. This is my second time here and I've been very pleased both times. The restaurant is fairly small but quaint. On a Wednesday night at 8:00, every seat is taken. Zuzzu is reasonably priced. We have always enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service, but tonight was a big disappointment. We waited an hour for our food and then they brought us the wrong order. The eggplant Parmesan was served in a ramekin that was impossible to eat. Service was sub-par and once they realized that they forgot to put in our order, they ignored us, leaving our table cluttered with salad plates. Tried this place tonight. I was craving a light fish and pasta dish. The place is really cute. A small restaurant - which gives it a neighborhood feel. The service is excellent - informal but really on top of it. We started with the octopus carpaccio. It was excellent. The flavor, with the lemon and the capers, was perfect. It was served under a fairly good size bed of arugula. We then shared a caesar salad. At my request, they added a bunch of anchovies, which I love. Even without the anchovies, the caesar was on point. A good amount of punch to the dressing but not too much garlic or lemon. I'd definitely go back for the pulpo and the caesar. Oh, and the bread was excellent too. It was crunchy on the outside and soft inside without being gooey. It's served with a plate of olive oil and a balsamic reduction. I like the tang of a balsamic but I'm not a fan of reduction because it gets too sweet. My husband, however, loved it. Then the main courses arrived. We both ordered specials. My husband had the chicken (flattened and breaded) with homemade parmesan. He enjoyed it but said the chicken was over-cooked. I order the Spaghetti Pescatore. Unfortunately, all the seafood was overcooked. Only the cod (only one piece) and the mussels were worth eating. The squid made my jaw hurt to chew it and the shrimp was so hard from overcooking that it was flavorless. Same with the clams. The red sauce was so overpowering that I basically just had spaghetti with 6 mussels. I didn't even eat 1/4 of the dish. I typically eat vegetarian. So when I order meat or seafood I want it to be good. This was far from it. There's a reason for these deficiencies though. And it can be corrected. They only have one person in the kitchen. And since the difference between a perfectly cooked shrimp and overcooked shrimp is mere moments, I'm not surprised all shellfish was overcooked. So, let's get her some help in the kitchen. If they can get the timing right, this place will be a gem!! Good italian and good french restaurants in Atlanta are hard to find. I have hopes for this one. read more

We had dinner here on Thursday night. Everything was excellent. We tried the octopus appetizer and the Tagliere (italian meat tray). The octopus was shaved into thin pieces and served with arugula and a dressing. It's not a generous serving of Octopus and just enough for 2 to share as a light appetizer. The Tagliere meat tray will easily feed 4 adults. We had over half of it boxed to go. We each had a pizza. They were bigger than I thought they would be. One pizza could feed 2 people, especially with a side salad. My husband ordered the Italo and I had the Enzo. I was only able to eat one piece since I had sampled to much of the Tagliere meat tray. We had the pizza boxed to go and enjoyed it on Friday for dinner. My only complaint is the brick oven pumps out a lot of heat and I found the temperature too hot. read more

Great food, horrible slow service, can't use pizza oven in spring, summer or fall because their air conditioning isn't commercial and the 800 degree pizza oven heats the restaurant to a level too high... Owner said he can only use it when he can open a close by window... Took 15 minutes to get waters, another 10 for wine, and 2 trips at the end of the night to get the bill correct... Kept seeing things on bill we didn't order... One of the guys who brought one of the entrees out didn't even know the name of the dish he was delivering.... read more

New owner. Historically, one of our favorite restaurants. New owner was finding his way a bit Friday night. Orders forgotten, drink request ignored and the new owner never came over to introduce himself. He stayed on the iPad at the front desk during our entire dinner, even when an order was not placed and the plate came late. Been to this restaurant twice, with the first time maybe two years ago. It was nothing memorable the first time, but based on the good reviews, I wanted to try it again. Had the polpette (meatball) appetizer-the meatballs were very heavy and dense, generally flavorless except for the tomato sauce, and a bit overcooked. I had the Caesar salad, which was wet and oily and very bland; there were absolutely no garlic or anchovy flavors and there were no croutons, only a few slices of bread on the side - I only ate about half. They were out of the eggplant Parmesan at 7 PM on a Friday night, so I had the pork dish - 2 pieces of fried pork over some cannelloni beans with artichoke pieces, capers and tomatoes. Just okay. Again, I left about half of the dish. Friend had a caprese salad - not the prettiest tomatoes. I just don't understand why restaurants don't use better quality/riper tomatoes in their dishes. Our entrées were served within five minutes of our salads, so the entrees got cold while we were eating the salads. Place was very loud, even at 80% capacity, and a bit frenzied. I think there are certain dishes at this restaurant that are much better than others, such as the pizza. Regardless, not sure I'd return. read more

Ill start with service- 5stars. It is a cozy, make-you-feel-at-home type of restaurant, with some special , elevated Italian offerings. My glass of wine wasn't what I was expecting, and my waitress immediately insisted I select another. Our girls got their pizza first, and our entrees took awhile to arrive. Once we received , our very generous entrees, the waitress offered my girls a seat at the counter & and chance for them to make their own pizza. My husband and I truly appreciated the care and attention they gave the girls, and we quasi had a date night, while kiddos were happily chatting with staff. Everyone was warm, kind, and very attentive. I ordered the fried cod over artichoke-potato mash , which was different, and very tasty.
