This is the spot! We found this little place on a Sunday in search of some good Indian food on a brisk January Sunday and omg! Started with the steamed pork momo that was absolutely delicious, it comes with 10 good sized mo mos perfect to spilt. The butter chicken was recommended to us by the very helpful waitress who said it was her favorite. And boy was she right, the butter chicken was absolutely delicious we got the medium spice and I think it was perfect. Definitely had a little kick to it but nothing overwhelming. Zuzu Momo hands down has some of the best momos. My favorite is the new road style momos. It's coated in a delicious sauce that is packed with flavor but the momos still remain a bit crispy. The filling is delicious and overall super satisfying. I would definitely recommend you try this out. I also had their biryani which had a bit of a kick to it which I liked. I went here last night for the first time with my wife. I wasn't sure what to expect - it looks small and unassuming from the outside - but the ambiance was an absolute delight from the moment we walked in! It's small but the tables aren't bunched too close together, the bar is super cute and has a really good array of beers on tap (from local breweries as well as Blue Moon!), and the cocktail selection is unique and delicious, with a generous pour. The waitstaff were welcoming and polite throughout. The music lent to the atmosphere - just enough but not too loud. The food was outstanding - we had a hard time narrowing down our selection! The tikka masala momo and gobi manchurian and naan were all perfect - generous portions, incredibly tasty. There were so many other options on the menu that I genuinely can't wait to go back to try everything. The decor was fun and eclectic, and apparently they have a patio for outdoor dining that I can't wait to try in the spring. We were there for a date night, which this place absolutely worked for, but I can also see it as a great place to come with friends. I'm so pleased to have a fun, delicious, local place to go. Have ordered a few times from here, while I like the momos, the sauce we received many times had a pungent smell to it making it impossible to enjoy the momos as it was already dumped on the momos all over. Many times drinks were missed in our pickup order, staff were often unprofessional wouldn't acknowledge the issue. Last straw was when we placed a huge order for a birthday gathering, 5/5 momo ordered were uncooked, chowmein was drowned with cumin powder making it impossible to eat, was asked to come in 20 minutes, we went back in 40 still had to wait around for extra 20 minutes. Staff was unable to acknowledge the issues, had to ask for replacement inside of being offered. Will avoid in future. read more

After having tried most of the items on the menu, I can say with confidence there are no bad choices. There are some classics (chicken tikka masala, curries, butter chicken), but I would say their specialties are the momos, always in a rich, flavorful sauce. Their biryani dishes are great too. If you are looking for an app, explore the pakoras, spring rolls, or hot wings, which certainly have a kick. They have an assortment of fun cocktails to choose from, as well. It is a family-run business and every time I come I feel like I see the same familiar faces, which is so special! It is a pretty large serving so it would be great to share. I would suggest getting a side of rice with it because it's really just a big bowl of chicken. My bf got the ramen momo and loved it. I tried it, and the broth is not the typical ramen broth. It's very thick, almost like a curry, and it's smoky tasting, but definitely delicious. He also said the dumplings were good. Had a good time at Zuzu Momo for a late lunch. When we arrived, the place was empty. We seated ourselves and waited a bit for the waiter to show up. I would say for the place to be that empty 10 minutes seemed too long to be waiting. Once our server showed up, she was nice and attentive. We ordered a few things all to share. The samosa (half off during happy hour) was way better than we'd expected; the goat curry was super tasty and the fried momo even more delicious. We ordered drinks as well, I picked the espresso martini, it was good enough but definitely would suggest others go with a different cocktail. I've had really well made espresso martinis and this just isn't the place for them. I had a few concerns about none of the staff wearing masks, especially kitchen staff but oh well. Here is my opinion on this place. Made a reservation no issues. Walked in and the music was so loud i could barely concentrate. Was contemplating asking to turn it down since we were the only people in the place but didn't. Food all tasted the same. we got the dumplings chicken and pork. couldn't tell the difference. What really turned us off this place was the service. The waitress never cracked a smile or came over to ask if we needed anything or how was our food. We wanted a drink from the bar but she just never came back until she handed us the check. Once she put the check on the table she stood there with the credit card machine. I mean she never left! after a whole minute i said we need a few minutes. She left. I have never in my life encountered something like that. The food was uniformly good to excellent. The best was the pork momo tikka masala (18$) -- crisp momo, and some of the best tikka masala I've ever had. The flavor was incredible and it was perfectly creamy. I'd definitely recommend it as a must try! It was on the pricey side, as it only came with six momo and there wasn't that much sauce, but it tasted so good. The vegetable biryani (17$) was also quite good, nicely flavored, as was the pork steam momo (11$). The garlic naan (5$) was only four somewhat small pieces, which was a bit disappointing. Though we got the medium spice level, it was barely spicy at all, probably more like what I'd expect at a mild level from most Boston area restaurants. I'm so glad I found this place! Inside is quite small and intimate. When I came on a Friday night, pretty much all the tables were filled. They have partitions in between the tables and *most* of the staff were wearing masks. I got my food To-Go and it was ready about 20 min after it was expected to be ready. They're new and were pretty busy so it wasn't a big deal to me. I do hope they are able to improve processes going forward. I am no expert in Indian or Nepalese food, so I can't speak on the authenticity of anything. All I know is that everything I ordered tasted amazing! CHICKEN 65 - crispy, spicy, small nuggets of chicken that paired so perfectly with rice. So addicting to eat. I highly recommend! CHICKEN TIKKA MASALA - Creamy & flavorful with large chunks of chicken. When I went, ZuZu didn't sell Naan so I actually had to buy it from another Indian restaurant. However based on their IG it seems like they will start selling Naan soon so it would go perfect with this! KOTHY MOMO (pork) - large portion of pan fried dumplings that came with 2 sauces (both spicy). I couldn't tell you what they are but there was this creamy orange sauce that was so good. Having eating Chinese dumplings growing up, I couldn't help but to compare the MoMos to what I know. These were not my favorite dish of the night, but they are still good! I was looking for the best authentic Nepalese food experience in Boston and I found it. First thing foremost is the food. The most perfect and flavorful crispy chicken lollipops in BOSTON. The fried chicken momos (kothay) with two types of home made sauce were beyond perfection. The chef makes his own spicy sauce but you must request it. Fried on the outside juicy on the inside, even the butter chicken was cooked to perfection and extra spicy per my request. In addition to food, the service was PHENOMENAL! My waitress Sushmika was so friendly and helpful and attentive to us! We had a chance to greet the chef from afar and he was so humble! Personality to match his culinary talents. Great spot! We tried this restaurant for Mother's Day. I went with my parents, husband, and 19 month old. We tried both Nepali and Indian dishes. Everything was delicious! I appreciate that the kid's menu is mostly just smaller portions of other dishes (not limited to chicken nuggets and French fries like many other restaurants). We had mango lassis, samosas, chicken fried rice, naan, chicken tikka masala, shrimp curry, chicken curry, and new road style c momo. Looking for something different from your traditional Nepali/Indian restaurant fare? Then try Zulu Momo in Everett. We decided to try this out based on its claim to be a combination of Nepali street food and traditional Indian food and just didn't want o take the trek and time to go to the Himalayan Kitchen. We ordered the Chicken Lollipops and Steamed Pork Momos as appetizers and the Chicken Biryani and Chicken Tikka Masala as the entrees. The Chicken Lollipops were certainly crunchy but we felt that they were fried too long as there wasn't any tender meat underneath the crisp outer coating - it was all just one crunch fest and not in a good way. Similar to that taste of a French Fry that has been fried too long. The steamed Pork Momo's were as good as you would find in any respectable Chinese dumpling house and there were no complaints whatsoever. The Chicken Biryani was plentiful and fell under the "street food" moniker as it was not a traditional taste to it yet still pleasing to the taste buds. The Chicken Tikka Masala was quite good but there was not enough sauce with it and was underwhelming in amount for the price. We also ordered the Mango Lassi for our son. The drink was delivered in a small glass that was filled completely with ice. The drink was not freshly made and a little too thick. What will I remember about my first encounter with this Momo? The serving dishes seem inappropriately small for some of the entrees and sides while the serving spoons are inappropriately large. We ended up leaving food on the table and we are not a slovenly family. You will see the first time you try to take some of the rice out of the serving dish. Would I go back? Sure I'd give this a go back. It would not replace one of my regular Indian eateries but the food and idea is not bad at all and worth another try. read more

We noticed their website online menu was a bigger than what was available on UberEats, so decided to call in for a pickup. While I don't mind driving over, I hope the UberEats menu will be updated soon. Ordered some momos, paneer chili, some rice and the chicken sekuwa. I came to this restaurant based on the google and yelp reviews. Unfortunately, I was unable to try the food and decided to walk out over a very strange encounter. My husband and I entered, I walked up the lady working behind the bar and asked if we are supposed to seat ourselves and can we sit anywhere. She told us, yes, sit anywhere you like. My husband and I see an empty booth and sit down. Shortly after ,we were served water and received the menus. While looking at the menu, I noticed there is a couple sitting at a table next to us (sitting at a regular table, not a booth). The couple next to us asked the lady behind the bar for us to leave the booth so they could eat their own food at our table. I've been here twice. I highly recommend getting their steam momos; I personally also like the deep fried momos. The two times I came I also got the briyani- which I also recommend. Nicely seasoned, not too strong or spicy. What I don't recommend getting - naan and tiki masala. The garlic naan was fluffy and airy, but lacked flavor- where was the garlic ? And a little salt would help. The same for the tiki masala- there was a lack of flavor granted we did get mild, but all we taste was the yogurt. It was super milky and not enough spice! Drinks were inconsistent. First cocktail was super stiff (I'm not complaining), but the second was normal or not enough. I think this restaurant has a lot of potential. This place is showing up in my feed for a while, so I thought I will give it a try. The place itself is cute and cozy looking. I would definitely go there for it's ambience. However, the food and service was not mind-blowing. There was one person waiting for 8 tables - I saw other waiters just hanging at their bar and not helping out the main server. I waited for 15 mins to ask for check - which eventually the bar tender had to come and get us the check. They were out of Chicken Momo, so instead ordered Chowmein, which was very flavorful. The Chicken 65 was crispy and spicy. And Samosas were small. One thing to note is that this place is expensive. There are other cheaper nepalese options but their ambience is not that good. However, the menus are misleading - they have not updated the price on their menu. So when the actually bill came out - everything was a dollar or two more expensive. Overall, you can go if you are looking for ambience and decent food, but if your focus is more on food then there are other cheaper nepalese options - Masala(Somerville), Himalayan Kitchen(Somerville), Tukure(Everett). read more

TL;DR: Super hostile customer service; somewhat chaotic but cozy ambiance; food is tasty but very overpriced considering the small portions -- Had a highly unpleasant experience picking up my Grubhub order tonight at this restaurant. The pickup orders are laid out wide in the open, much like Sweetgreen, Panera, or Chipotle. As this is not a particularly upscale establishment, I assumed the procedure to pick up was also the same: locate my order, then pick it up. No need to bother the busy employees, I thought -- it was almost closing time, and they looked like they had their hands plenty full. So I found my order, checked to see if it was mine, and picked it up. (Note that I did this at almost exactly the time specified in the Grubhub email, so my presence shouldn't have been a surprise.) One of the employees suddenly appeared behind me to ask if the order is mine. I assumed she was asking so she could help, because I am very obviously physically disabled and use mobility devices, and the bag was heavier than expected. Instead, even after I answered yes and repeated the name on the order as well as the platform I ordered it on, she kept asking me if the order was really mine. Even after I asked her to help me carry the order to my car just outside the restaurant, she kept acting incredulous, treating me as if I was a thief who got caught. As she handed over my order so I could put it in my car, she essentially scolded me as if I was a child to confirm pickup orders (which was unnecessary -- I will not be picking up here again after this experience). I was polite the whole time and wished her a pleasant night, but it was very obvious she didn't believe that I was a paying customer. I don't know if this is normally how this establishment's employees treat potential repeat customers, or if the way I was dressed and the fact I'm obviously disabled made this employee particularly suspicious of me. If pickup order theft is such an issue at this restaurant to justify this kind of behavior, I would advise management to move the pickup orders to behind a counter somewhere, instead of where it presently is, so that customers don't reasonably assume they can, well, pick up their pickup orders, and then be subjected to some incredibly bizarre customer service as a result. As far as the food goes: it was delicious; the kitchen obviously knows what they're doing when it comes to chicken tikka masala. Although the ambiance of the establishment is very cute and cozy -- while busy and a tad loud on a weeknight, it has potential as a casual dinner date spot -- I am disinclined to bring any dates here due to the risk of hostile service. I will probably keep ordering pickup and delivery from Zam Zam nearby for my future tikka masala cravings. Portions are also shockingly small, considering the price; if you want a bang for your buck, look elsewhere. read more
