We went to Zut for lunch and it was delicious! We had a reservation and were seated right away. All the staff members we interacted were professional and kind. My table ordered the Mezze Platter and the crab sandwich and they were both delicious. I will definitely be back!

We went with family to this Berkeley spot located in a happening neighborhood for dinner. The adults in the group started the evening off with some adult beverages (both alcoholic and non). The Gin and Tonic, and Old Fashioned were both great. The non-alcoholic drinks were fine as well, according to the partakers. Appetizers came next, we went for French Fries and Chargrilled Brussel Sprouts. What a tasty combo! For entrees, the Steelhead Trout with grilled Broccolini, Roasted Marble Potatoes, and Caper Salsa Verde was an excellent choice. I understand the Impossible Burger with Fries was good, as were the Boeuf Bourguignon with Pancetta with Pearl Onions and Carrots, and Crimini Mushrooms and red wine, and the Spaghetti Puttanesca with Rock Fish and olives (though it could have used more seasoning according to my niece). The dessert two in the party went with Hot Fudge Sundae and the Vanilla Panna Cotta. We heard they were delicious. I went with the Flowerless Chocolate Cake with Hot Fudge and Whipped Cream. The service was excellent even with little ones among the crew. We loved the restaurant's relaxed atmosphere!

This is such a cool spot in a nice location along Fourth St. the lighted patio was so cool. We started at the bar with a cocktail. Had a yummy old fashioned. Then we got seated and our server was very attentive. Had French fries, the burrata and the prosciutto and pear pizza. So so good to share these apps. Over all a great visit.

My husband and in-laws wanted to eat at the Japanese restaurant next door as we were in the area, but apparently we were hitting the commencement crowd on the Saturday night so reservations were required. Thus, we came to Zut on Fourth. They luckily had a table open inside. Overall service did not take long. Food took about 10 minutes to come out, but with how busy it was, that was actually pretty fast. I ordered the clam linguini which was so good (but drowning in so much garlic!) My in-laws got the trout, which was probably our favorite dish for the night. We also got some ice cream for dessert, which was decent as well. I am grateful that they were able to squeeze us in for a table, and overall our service was good.

Love the ambiance, between the dim lighting, jazz music playing and the big windows to see all the trees lit up on 4th street. Gisela was our server, she was amazing, attentive, professional and recommended the pork dish which was amazingly delicious and cook to perfection. The fish n chips were very light & crispy fish was cooked perfect. The garlic fries were so tasty and the green olives were yum! If you're ever in the area stop by. You will not be disappointed.

I just left from Zut and this is the 2nd time I've noticed a difference in the service I received vs the service that someone right next to me got. I came in and waited at the host desk patiently for about 5 minutes and was passed twice before I was acknowledged. When I was finally greated I was handed a menu and told to sit anywhere so I went and chose a seat outside. About 10 minutes later, 2 women came in and were ushered to a table next to me by the very same host that just had me seat myself. After taking my order, I was not spoken to again at all. When the same man came to retrieve my empty bottle, I said thank you and was ignored. He never came to the table again though he checked on the table behind me twice. I tried to get his attentin but was never given a 2nd glance. I had to go inside to the counter to state that I was ready to close out. I'm not sure what is going on lately but this was a disappointing service experience. The food was great as always but service was poor. I work in area so I come here occasionally but I'm starting to wonder if I want to keep patronizing this establishment.

i feel like restaurants on fourth street have been a miss for me, but this one was pretty solid. the breakfast ensemble is a solid option for breakfast, and i like how they give you dipping sauces for each item. not many places do beignets for a breakfast platter! my friend got the zut burger, which was incredibly messy to eat. however, the garlic fries are crispy and fresh. despite us arriving at opening with few people in the restaurant, the service was slow. the food is prepared relatively quickly though.

Inoffensive, run of the mill, and frankly -- overpriced. You get decent quality food and subpar service. This was the Zut! burger with American cheese. It's accompanied with your choice of either a salad or garlic fries. While the burger was cooked to a perfect medium rare, the burger and fries themselves weren't too exciting or flavorful, especially for the price of $24. Moreover, our waiter was abrasive and came off as annoyed. I'd feel a lot better getting a double-double and some animal style fries from In-N-Out -- in terms of food quality, cost, and customer service. While I did have gripes with almost every aspect of the restaurant, the ambience was cozy and the jazz was entertaining! I suggest steering clear if you were concerned about finding great quality food and customer service, while at a reasonable price point.

Date: 6/12/2024 Time: 12:15 PM 64° Sunny I was treated to lunch by one of my high school classmates. I am not sure if I have ever dined here several years ago. The menu looked somewhat familiar. Then I have been in this area for shopping (Sur La Table). Perusing the menu, I narrowed it down to two choices - crab sandwich with avocado on toasted sourdough bread and a side salad or a margherita pizza. I love margherita pizza, but lately I have been on carbs overload. Nix it on the pizza. That will have to be another time. Taste test of my favorite beverage, the Arnold Palmer. Did it pass my test? It was okay. Appearance of the tea was nice, but the tea overwhelmed the lemonade. I had better elsewhere. (3 star). I usually will drink the glass of Arnold Palmer, but this time I wasn't feeling it. My crab sandwich with avocado on a toasted sourdough bread and a side salad of spring mix was delicious. Crab was fresh and flavorful. Spring mix salad drizzled with a vinaigrette dressing was refreshing and a quite a complement to the sandwich. Garlic fries was the other option. As mentioned above, I did not want carbs overload. The slight drawback was the butter that came with bread. The butter was unsalted, but the restaurant added salt, resulting in a salty buttered bread. Ugh! Service was great. Wait time was about 10 minutes for our lunch. My friend had reservations and we were seated promptly. The waiter was attentive and pleasant. Outdoor dining was all right, except for the car alarm of somebody's car. The lady who owned the car couldn't turn off the alarm. (What a noisy racket!) Return visit? Yes, only if I am in the area for a lunch in the future.

    Gluten free options?

There are gluten-free options, however, the day I had lunch here the restaurant ran out of GF kinds of pasta. Of course, salads can be altered by leaving off crutons and by using lemon, oil, vinegar salad dressings.

The restaurant is fairly small with probably about a half a dozen tables, etc. The owner was very polite, and thankfully very patient with us for a friends lunch. We originally had plans for another restaurant, but this location, etc. worked out. Everyone spent quite a bit of time catching up, and we were made to feel at home. I ordered a side of fries for a shareable at the table. I found the fries to be very underwhelming and needed more seasoning and considering that it's seven dollars for a side of fries the serving was pretty mediocre. I ordered the lamb/beef gyro plate. The side salad was very fresh and had a light vinaigrette dressing. I would have liked for the dressing to be more of an actual vinaigrette flavor. The rice was light and fluffy, but again, lacked seasoning/flavor. The side of yogurt sauce, was tasty, but did not hit the spot. Why? Because it really lacked the flavors. Notice a theme? I will say, the meat was tender, and it had a really nice flavor to it. It was delicious enough that it was very difficult to differentiate between a lamb flavor versus a beef flavor. It all tasted good together. The soft drinks are rather pricey. It was around $3.50 for a bottled Coke. Yikes! When we were done with our meal, we were served complementary hot tea. It was a nice touch.

My wife's 70th birthday happened at the end of January, 2026…read more We have eaten at Troy many times and always enjoyed the entire experience, so she decided to investigate Troy's catering options so there would be meat and vegetables options to suit all our guests' preferences, with the obvious bonus that all the choices would be equally appealing because Mediterranean food is awesome! Husam was our main contact and assisted us with making our choices, and Iris was very helpful in ensuring that our pickup time was adjusted to fit the busy schedule that we had on the morning of the party. She also confirmed our request for extra Red Chili and Jalapeno Garlic sauce. For those curious, the Red Chili sauce is the milder of the two, but both are savory and great on almost anything! Here is what we ordered, which was anticipated to feed 40 guests: 1 Full Tray of Moussaka 1 Full Tray of Pastitsio 2 Combo Appetizer Trays 1 Chicken Souvlaki 1 Beef Souvlaki 1 Lamb Souvlaki It was an immense amount of food, and it was all DELICIOUS. The souvlaki disappeared first, and both full trays of the Moussaka and Pastitsio received significant dents! The appetizer trays had large falafel balls that were thankfully cut in half, dolmas, a mountain of pita bread, and multiple pint containers, two each of hummus, baba ganoush, tzatziki, and the Red Chili and Jalapeno Garlic sauce. The pickup from Troy was a breeze, and we absolutely lucked out by getting a parking spot directly in front of the restaurant on Solano, which anyone who lives locally will tell you is no small feat on a Saturday morning! Husam kindly helped me carry everything out to our car. My one suggestion to anyone who is ordering catering, especially if you get a half or full tray of either the Moussaka and/or Pastitsio, bring a baking sheet to support each tray. While the trays are made from thick aluminum, the weight will make the bottom sag a little, and it will likely be too hot to support with your bare hands. All our guests raved about all the food, and we are still happily enjoying leftovers of everything for breakfast, lunch, and dinner for a week and after!
