Pad Thai

Stopped in before a concert at Capital One after seeing lots of positive reviews and this place did not miss!! The atmosphere was awesome, the lady and gentleman working there were incredibly welcoming and happy to have us. Service was quick and we were very happy with our food. I had the pad Thai with chicken (pictured) and my sister had the pad see ew with tofu (not pictured bc she ate it so fast). We will definitely be coming back.

Pink Cofee and Phi Phi Island drinks

The service was very friendly and thorough. The food was served fresh and it was very tasty! I forgot to take a pic of the food before digging in, but the presentation of the food was great. I got the Pineapple Fried rice with an extra fried egg on top, and my boyfriend got the Drunken Noodles with chicken. Highly recommend! The drinks in the picture is the Pink Coffee and the Phi Phi Island drinks. If you want a coffee with a sweet taste to it, get the pink coffee. The Phi Phi drink was just a refreshing pineapple juice.

Tofu ramen soup - steaming hot and warmed my soul!
Vivian H.

The day I stopped into this place was when the temperature in DC dropped from 60 down to 40 and it was windy and cold and it was really nice to find a cozy place to get out of the cold to warm up a bit. I had some late meetings and so lunch didn't happen for me until close to 3pm, which is when I came here. I ducked in here around 3pm, which was probably after the lunch rush and the place was pretty empty except for 2 other people dining. I needed to charge up my phone and the staff here were super nice and put me at a 4 top that had an outlet available, sweet! And since it was quite cold for me (Im from Phoenix), I opted for a miso ramen noodle soup with tofu. Noodle soup was decent, not as good as an authentic Japanese place, but since it was piping hot, it soothed my soul and the boiled egg was very good too! I slurped happily, got my phone charged, staff was very nice and helpful and I was tucked into a cozy, warm place, so I was a super happy and content when I left. Ramen plus tax and tip came to $20, pretty good deal. I'd come back here again to give other dishes a try too.

Gyozas

This is quaint place pumping out deliciousness. The fried oysters were good with a crispy outside and moist inside. The gyozas were really good. Drunken noodles had the perfect amount of spice and great flavor. Definitely recommend!

Came for lunch with colleagues and everyone enjoyed their choices. I had the drunken noodles and it was delicious with a good amount of protein. I also had the tuna and avocado maki and it was made very well and the tuna was tasty. This place is great for lunch. Not great for large groups as it's god a small seating area.

Sushi Roll Combo Special 2 (pick 5roll)
Clara A.

Had ZumoThai takeout, we got the 5 roll special. My favorites were the Shrimp Tempura, and Salmon Avocado. The Tuna Avocado was also pretty good, and the Spicy tuna was on the spicier end for me. The fish in the sushi felt good and tasted fresh, but the avocado wasn't the best. Some of the pieces of avocado were a bit hard, and some had a bit of an off taste and a few dark spots, not terrible but definitely could have been fresher. We also had the Katsu Don which was very good! Had a good subtle sweetness and a great katsu breading. Pretty good overall, would return.

Crispy Duck Ga prao

The Crispy Duck Ga prao was INCREDIBLY SALTY. I could not believe how salty it was. I'm very disappointed as I'm a tourist from the West coast and this is one of the few meals I had in DC. 0/10 would not recommend this place to anyone.

Appetizer Tempura
Michelle J.

Nice people. Cute little restaurant. We were greeted as soon as we walked in. They had a lot of great things on the menu. There were 5 of us dinning and we were all able to find something we liked. I had the appetizer tempura which came with shrimp and mixed vegetables. I also ordered the Pad Thai. Both were very tasty and portions were large enough for everyone to share. Colleagues ordered a variety of rolls, soups, and other dishes. Everything was excellent.

This is a very small restaurant and if you are not paying attention, you will miss it. It is right before Walgreens and next to a Chinese store. The employees are very nice and greet you promptly. This place serves Thai, Japanese, and a mix of all kinds of Asian fusion. Even though the name Thai is in the name, this is not a traditional Thai restaurant. If you want authentic Thai, this is not the place, more Thai fusion. Food: Got the Pad Ka Prow with pork. The pork was cooked well and a generous amount of pork. I am used to a larger amount of veggies. For sure this has more protein than veggies. The rice was okay, not very fresh. The sauce was very sweet compared to other places and ran a bit too salty. This was the closest Thai restaurant to my hotel and I was having a Thai craving.

Red curry with pork

The red curry with pork was a good portion and solid. The Steamed vegetables side was good.

Chicken pad Thai

Really convenient place near the Chinatown stop. I thought the Japanese/Thai concept was not going to work, but this restaurant does. Ended up getting the pad Thai and it was one of the better ones in the area. Would go back. Also friendly service and very chill vibes

Special sushi roll. Excellent 10/10.

The service was great, and the restaurant itself was really pretty and had such a nice atmosphere. Everyone in our group ordered something different, and everything we tried was so good. I got the Thai vermicelli, and it was absolutely delicious! I also got to try some of my friends' dishes, and everything was flavorful and really well done. I'm usually pretty nitpicky when it comes to coconut curry sauces, but it was so perfectly balanced and flavorful. It was easily some of the best Thai food I've had in the DMV (honestly!). No complaints whatsoever. I'll definitely be returning next time I'm in the area! :)

The khao soi had good flavor, and it came with rice. The chicken wings were for my son, he said they were the best wings he's ever had. The beef curry had good flavor, but the beef was a bit overcooked. Service was a little bit of a miss. When the waiter first came, he asked us for our food order. However, we wanted to order drinks first. I was able to order my cocktail, however, the waiter left before anyone else at my table could speak to order a beverage. Food came out very quickly. This is not the type of place where you would want to enjoy drinks and food over a period of time. However, if you are super hungry, your food will definitely get to you quickly. Restaurant was crowded, but not super loud. Overall, I would come back for the food, I just wish that I could have more time to enjoy my restaurant experience.

The chicken satay was fried chicken with peanut sauce, definitely not authentic (chicken satay is usually grilled). Decent for what it was though. The khao soi's flavor was great, there were pieces of chicken which is also not authentic (usually has a chicken leg). The mango sticky rice was tasty though, rice was warm and chewy, mango was very little though. I originally asked for tom yum noodles with thick rice noodles (it usually comes with super thin noodles), and the kitchen "couldn't" do it. Yes you can, all you have to do is cook a different type of noodle and put it in, it's not that hard. I'm not sure what you "can't" do about it. Price was okay, decent for DC. Service kept reminded us probably at least 3 times throughout the meal that they're almost closing (at 9:30PM).

There's a dozen small tables inside with 4 tables outside. The food was prepared very fast within 10 minutes, fresh and pipping hot! Sadly, there are no lunch specials (the dishes are a little pricey at $18). The Pad Thai is hands-down the best with saucy rice noodles, topped with fresh scrambled egg, crunchy crushed peanuts, and airy fried tofu. The dish was very fresh and flavorful. Tofu is typically dense at most Thai restaurants, but surprisingly the tofu here seemed freshly fried and soft and tender. It was odd that I was given a large fork and spoon, but no chopsticks! I received a disposable pair upon request. The Panang Curry tasted authentic with a mid spicy kick (I requested for mild), which wasn't overpowering and served with a side of white sticky rice. There was a heap of cubed airy tofu. It would have been nice to have a bit more curry to balance out all of the tofu. I enjoyed the dish and made for great leftovers! Agree with fellow Yelpers, the Thai Iced Tea is the perfect dessert and not to be missed! It's sweet and helped to offset the spiciness of the curry. The touristy poster of authentic Thai favorite dishes actually delivers and not a tourist trap, quite the contrary! Great Thai restaurant by the Capital. Looking forward to coming back!

Delicious Curry...Just Wish There Was More of It!…read more After a weekend away, I wanted something good, warm, and comforting for dinner, so Thai food immediately came to mind. I've tried quite a few Thai spots around DC, but this was my first time ordering from TipThai. I went with the red curry with chicken, and it was REALLY delicious! The curry was flavorful, rich, and exactly the comfort meal I was looking for. I also love that they let you choose your spice level -- mild, medium, hot, or extra hot. I ordered mine hot, and it was perfect! Definitely had some heat, but not so much that it overpowered the flavor of the curry. My only real complaint was the portion size. The price was comparable to other Thai restaurants in the area, but the amount of food definitely wasn't. The portion was noticeably smaller than pretty much every other red curry I've ordered locally, which was disappointing considering the price. That said, the curry itself tasted so good that I'm definitely interested in trying some of their other menu items. I just worry that the smaller portions may be consistent across the menu. Overall, TipThai nailed the flavor and spice level -- I just need them to be a little more generous with the portions!

Our group shared the Moo Yang and Crab Dumplings to start, and both were delicious. For our mains, two of us ordered the Pad Thai and the others had the Panang Curry. Our Panang Curries arrived several minutes apart, and we waited more than 15 minutes for the Pad Thais after the first entrees were served. We had to ask our waiter a few times about the rest of the food so we could actually eat together. It wasn't just our table either. I noticed the same thing happening around the restaurant, including a couple on a date where one person had her meal sitting in front of her for about 10 to 15 minutes before the other person's food arrived. Hopefully they can work out the timing because the food itself is worth coming for. Despite the issue, I would definitely give Rimtang another try.

Our waiter, Anthony was a ball of energy and he really understands the dishes and was able to give great recommendations, some of which we plan to try on our next visit. Portions: the dishes are shareable so we only ordered the beef noodles and walnut shrimp and both were more than enough for a party of 2. DRINKS: I ordered the dark and stormy which can best be described as not too sweet and perfect for anyone desiring a well balanced drink. The bourbon smash was also really good. Well balanced with a smoky flavor which I loved. FOOD: Beef noodles- gosh this was so divine! Be warned however, there is a bit of spice to it but nothing that you won't be able to handle. I think the spices paired with the preparation of the noodles and the beef all made this dish memorable. Walnut shrimp- another memorable dish which came with a side of white rice. The shrimps were HUGE! But the flavors on each shrimp paired with that crunchy texture and creamy sauce, spectacular!
