    Spring Rolls
    Lia M.

When you can smell fragrant deliciousness before you've walked on the door, you know it is going to be good. Staff was very friendly. I ordered pad see ew, which is my favorite, and it was delicious. Our spring rolls were so, so good. The spicy tray didn't have the chilies I wanted, but the ones they did have were fine. It was bustling even on a Tuesday. I look forward to returning.

We have been wanting to try Beau Thai and I'm glad we finally did because we really enjoyed it! We ordered for delivery and honestly the food was really good! We ordered the pad Thai, pork belly, Brussels sprouts and larb gai! The pork belly was cooked to perfection and super tender and flavorful! The larb gai was spicy but not overwhelming and the sauce it was in was delicious! The seasonal Brussels were my absolute favorite! They had that crispy char to them and that sauce it was cooked in was phenomenal! I hope this becomes a regular menu item! The reason I am giving 4 stars is because of the pad Thai! While it was good it lacked any type of spice and in my opinion was extremely sweet! Would be great if they allowed for an option to up the ante on the spice a bit. Overall, the service was quick as the food was still hot when it arrived and I am adding it to my rotation of Thai restaurants!

We dined in at beau thai while we were spending a weekend in Washington DC. This is a great spot in the Mount Pleasant neighborhood. They have a full menu offering a variety of Thai dishes and sides. The food was delicious we got a couple of entrees and a side to share between us. The soup that we ordered was the Tom kha soup served in coconut milk, chicken, and mushrooms. This was really delicious and had a lot of different flavors in this soup. I also got the chicken fried and Brussels sprouts both were delicious as well. If I had to say to get anything it would be the Tom kha soup it was truly unique and is something that isn't being served at all Thai spots. Service was great and definitely a spot I would go back to again.

I like Beau Thai! The food is consistently good. While I typically visit the Shaw location, I decided to have dinner here with a friend who lives in the area. We were able to walk in and get a table on the weekend at prime dinner time with no problem. The restaurant itself is spacious, casual, and charming. I ordered the Pad Thai, which was well-prepared and flavorful, while my friend had the Duck Noodle Bowl, which looked delicious. I also appreciate that they offer different noodle options to suit personal preferences. For our appetizer, we shared the Steamed Dumplings, which were a solid choice. Everything was reasonably priced, and the experience was enjoyable.

Food tasted really great! If I could, I would give the restaurant an overall 3.5 out of 5 stars simply because I feel like the prices could be a bit cheaper. However, all food dishes were really well spiced with the Udon Curry being the standout with how flavorful the curry was. Their cocktails were strong but tasted as well. We sat outdoors, but the service was still prompt and the weather made it very suitable!

This is my second visit to the Mt. Pleasant Beau Thai, and I sure had a pleasant time!!! I came in a group of 10 after church on Sunday at 2pm, the kitchen closes at 3p, but we were able to stay past the kitchen time in the dining area to chat. There is outdoor seating but the summer heat/humidity has been rising, so indoor seating seemed more ... pleasant. There was plenty of seating at that time of day without reservations (and it was Father's Day). The bathroom is clean and well-stocked, high-ceilings, modern-looking backsplash where there is a bar, and some urban industrial looking pipes should you turn your gaze upward. There were some cool looking lights too. The service was prompt and the people were nice. They helped arrange for all of us to sit together and food came out pretty fast for how big of a group we are! I got the panang curry, which I have had in the past, but my first time getting it here. It was so flavorful and I ate it so happily. I got to try my friend's drunken noodles - spicy (he said he ate a jalapeno and it took a little bit to regroup himself so the spice is not to be taken lightly!!). I've had their Udom curry (variation of panang curry) with pork in the past (a few months ago) and it's STILL very good. I wonder if they ground their own spices and make their curry pastes fresh here - bc the flavors are just bolder and more fragrant than store-bought pre-made curry pastes. I'd totally come back to try their other curries (and maybe just ask them this next time too!) Don't be fooled - it may not look like it's a lot of food but it does fill you up (the curries at least)!!! In conclusion, I highly recommend coming to eat here. It's not cheap, but it's DC price average. Expect 20-30 per person (more if you get drinks/more apps).

Great hole in the wall Thai restaurant. I got the duck noodle bowl. It was a very hearty meal. Duck was tender, noodle was tasty, and broth was aromatic. Only thing for me was that the broth was a little too salty, so I couldn't really drink it, which was such a shame. For some reason, they also ran out of dessert when we ate there. They did not have mango with sticky rice. They didn't even have ice cream! Overall, fantastic meal, but wish that the ending would have been better.

Finally went to Beau Thai brunch and it was a hit! The mimosas are delicious- perfect ratio of OJ to Prosecco and they have a carafe option too. The kanom krok appetizer was so tasty- warm and sweet. I enjoyed the OMG Chicken- delicious chicken and sticky rice, beware the sauce it comes with is spicyyyy. My friend had the hangover special- their favorite- and it looked equally as appetizing. Friendly and attentive staff- our server was the best :) I love their outdoor seating- they have tables in the sun and in a covered area, both enjoyable on a nice day to people-watch the bustling neighborhood activity. The entrance is wheelchair accessible.

I actually went for dine-in, and we were one of the only tables. They greeted me with hand sanitizer, and had us complete a sign in sheet for contact tracing. Everyone was wearing masks. Ordered the veggie spring rolls, and they were crispy but not filled with too much flavor or vegetables so the sauce was needed to give it a little more taste. I typically enjoy Thai cuisine, and always order the drunken noodles with no bell peppers and a medium spicy levels. The food was so spicy that it was almost unbearable. I needed more water refills than usual, and the waiter regularly checked on us so it was fine.

The food was so so, kind of disappointed with the chili powder and vinegar both are extra charged. I never get charge with those stuff in any restaurant before.

I prowled into Beau Thai after a long afternoon of strolling on the nicest February day. Immediately affronted by the most tantalizing aroma of boiling broths and noodles, Beau Thai certainly makes an entrance. And the affront by these odors is not the extent of goodness leeching from this venue--you will also find very good food at somewhat reasonable prices. And the bathrooms are nice. Many of my four (4) stars are attributed to the food. I had a BEEF NOODLE BOWL that was good. Deeply juicy and steamy, although perhaps not the most flavorful of all BEEF NOODLE BOWLS that I've swallowed in my time. I ultimately added some chili sauce to spice the broth up a bit, which was a fine decision, although the beefy broth remained perhaps not the most flavorful of all BEEF NOODLE BOWLS that I've swallowed in my time. Now. I will say, I made a mistake. It's not the gravest of errors--I've done worse--but was no negligible deed either: given the option to select nood thiqueness, I requested the thiquest of the nood options available. Let me tell you, the thiquest of noods is NOT the BEST NOOD for a BEEF NOODLE BOWL. Stick with medium or skinny and you will find yourself much happier! And the remaining morsel of star we can attribute to the service and ambience of this fine establishment. The service was speedy, staff was pleasant. And the ambience was somewhat trendy too, but still titillating to a wide variety of audiences, from the grandparents taking out their grandchildren to a Fine Dining Experience to the Young Love couple on their second date. It is good to know, they tell me, that trendiness is vaguely accessible to The Masses. So, with this I come to the finish of a fine dining and writing experience. All in all, I would recommend Beau Thai as your next Columbia Heights Thai restaurant. BUT! Maybe don't get one of the brothy NOODLE BOWLS.

They have a large beer, wine, and liquor list (although not nearly as many English beers as I expected from a place called Crown & Crow). I won't deny that I wasn't a fan of either of the mixed cocktails I had, with both (including strangely a smoky drink) being too sweet. But the beer was expertly poured and the wine was a very generous serving. The prices are also more than reasonable, which is great for a DC bar. But what really elevates this place is the service. By late night, the place was jam packed. But each and every bartender was extremely friendly and they expertly worked the crowd, getting drinks served quickly (which too few places manage to do) and swiftly clearing off tables of dirty glasses. I also greatly appreciated the free goldfish that they happily dole out to the patrons. The staff made this a really good time.

The bartender in that area was friendly, but unhelpful, directing us to use the front room's bartender, even though she wasn't busy when we approached and asked for a couple of drinks. The bartender in the main room was great, he was very friendly and once he started a tab for me he said I could use the other bar too, I guess he wasn't aware the bartender at that other bar already told me she wouldn't help me. Regardless, the drinks we had were decent. For small bites, they only had gold fish crackers, I wish they would have had more to nosh on while drinking. Overall, not a bad visit.

I think they take reservations but we were able to grab a bar spot. Are drinks pricey? What do you think? It's a cocktail bar in DC. The drinks we tried were pretty tasty, even the mezcal one which I thought was a refreshing take. The wall shows some of the drinks on the menu and the ingredients/glass it comes in which I thought was a nice touch. Bartenders were friendly but not too chatty as they were super busy but you never waited long for a drink. The bourbon drink with the whipped honey was our favorite but the gin drink that was pink was also fantastic. For food I did try the buffalo chicken dip, pretty large and tasty (not too spicy) and loved the super crisp celery and the fritos. We initially came for happy hour, but moved to the cocktail menu. The hh was a bit limited, but the drinks were priced overall pretty reasonably for the area. My one complaint is the wine glasses were so teeny. Overall though, I would recommend this bar. Bonus: cheese balls when you sit down! I believe there is also a limited food menu (think nachos) for the after work or late night crowd.

It's a sexy basement vinyl den with additional outdoor seating, 10/10 unique cocktails, and incredible Japanese inspired small plates. Between two visits, we have tried 6 different drinks. They are named after songs and listed on the back of a fake vinyl cover. Each costs around $20, but with the mandatory tip and tax, it comes to around $26-28 per drink. The since I left you, though, is worth every penny. It is similar to an old fashioned but a little sweeter, with bourbon (makers mark), and while the menu says it also has miso, blackberry, cardamom, and cacao, I wouldn't say those flavors come through. But it is one of the best cocktails being served in DC right now. It is so good. They serve it with a cardamom tuile that is delicious as well. There is a lot of variety on here, but my number 2 is the Roses, a bright red gin based drink with a hint of fruitiness and a spicy kick in the back end. If you want something a little sweeter, the Takeover is a cognac based drink with coffee notes served with a mini donut. The food is exceptionally well seasoned and so flavorful. The fried chicken cannot be missed, and I love that you can get it in half or full size portions. The shrimp tempura might be even better. You get four large pieces that are super crisp and have a little orange sauce on them. Amazing. Our second visit we tried their chips and dip, and these potato chips alone are worth a visit. Large, crunchy, and served with a tasty ranch dip. I think 2 dishes is good for two people to fill you up, but add a third if hungry. The place is quite expensive, but they are worth it. For a date night, they are a great choice. Four drinks and three dishes shared between two people came to around $195, but as of this review, they are offering a $30 off deal if you pay through the app In Kind. Bonus points because the first time we came, they seated us maybe 5 minutes after our reservation time, and they gave us a free glass of cava. Top notch customer service right there

This bar is sweet -- awesome music, a neat menu, truly craft cocktails, and a unique menu. We tried several cocktails and each was delicious - from spicy to sweet, they don't miss. We also tried the cheese burger egg rolls and the tuna hand roll. The food is expensive for what you get but it's advertised to be small bites, not a meal. The egg rolls felt like remixed in n out, and as a Californian, I was grateful. Why not 5 stars? With the premium pricetag, I do expect premium service. The bartender was more interested in chatting with some folks he knew who came to sit at the bar. He also spent a lot of time chatting up the couple next to us, so do sit at the bar if you're feeling social. However, for the spare attention he did provide us, he was a bit condescending when we asked for a different glass for a drink that came in a bowl. It was slow until the very end of our stay and yet there were several times where I had an empty glass for a long period (and wanted to order more) or needed water. FYI for 6 drinks and a few bar bites it was $165... we went for a cheap burger dinner afterwards!
