The food is phenomenal BUT I will say this place is very expensive for what you get. We ordered two wraps and a side of lemon potatoes and it ended up being $45. There were only 5 potato wedges in the order and the wraps were small with no side included. When visiting my mom, we were looking for a place to have a casual dinner as part of her birthday weekend. She had been to Zorba Greek Eatery with her friends recently and, knowing I'm quite fond of Mediterranean cuisine, suggested that my husband and I would enjoy it as much as she had. Indeed we did! Hands down, this small, unassuming restaurant located in a shopping center offered some of the best Greek food I have ever eaten. The three of us shared an amazing meal starting with a combination platter of three delicious, creamy spreads (Melitzanosalata, Tzatziki and Hummus) accompanied by a basket of toasty pita triangles. We also ordered Dolmades (stuffed grape leaves - a favorite of my husband's) while perhaps not homemade, were good. My mom and also ordered the Avgolemono Soup (lemon chicken soup) which, while light on the chicken, had a nice flavor. But the top pick in the starter department was the grilled octopus I ordered. I have eaten this seafood in many places, including my former favorite - a beachside taverna in Cozumel, Mexico that, sadly, has been taken over by the sea. Zorba's grilled octopus was perfectly cooked, not chewy at all, and served in a light sauce that complimented it well. We were quite satiated with our starter picks so my mom and I shared a lamb kabob platter. This included two skewers of lamb chunks (rare, as we asked) along with a heaping pile of Zorba fries (oregano, lemon and feta) that were nicely crisp as ordered. My husband's Gyro platter was piled high with the tasty meat and also came with a mountain of the house's special fried potatoes. We were just took full to take another bite. A healthy piece baklava was packed up as a gift in recognition of my mother's birthday - on the house. Wow. The quantity of food that we received required two bags to bring the leftovers home ... which we will thoroughly savor another time. Our server, Michelle, was outstanding. Cherry, friendly and helpful, she was attentive without being intrusive. A true asset! If you crave authentic, Greek fare, then this place is for you. The restaurant is cozy, not fancy by any means ... on par with a nice pizzeria. Parking is easy in the shopping center. They do a healthy take-out service as well. It's BYOB in case you want to bring a bottle of your favorite wine to accompany your meal. Zorba Greek Eatery will be among our top picks when we return to NJ. read more

My mom loved her chicken gyro sandwhich! The potatoes were basic but good. I LOVED the melitzanosalata! I ordered a chicken gyro with no lettuce or tomato and forgot to ask them to add feta. That's just how I like it, I know many people would disagree lol. I wish there was more tzatziki sauce on it. The team did great with following the special instructions. That's always a worry of mine with take out but they listened to everything. I didn't feel too well after eating my food but I did finished the melitzanosalata the next day and felt completely fine! The chicken salad pita sandwich was so soggy we had to toss the pita, and only had about 1/2 a grilled chicken cutlet. The salad part was so wet it was inedible. Friendly service and while they forgot to bring the hummus appetizer we ordered, we still enjoyed the food & atmosphere. I have been coming here for several years and the food is consistently good. The service is good. The prices I think are on the high side. However something seems different. I have always loved their eggplant dip and while today's wasn't terrible, it was very different. The consistency was thicker. It wasn't as smooth as it always was. The garlic wasn't as pronounced. I can't tell if this was a fluke on the chefs part or if they're experimenting with a new recipe. If the latter please revert to what it was. That dip stayed with me and it's why I come back again and again. The dip today I'll forget about. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't terrible. It was just ordinary. The gyro was delicious as always. I prefer having it cooked well so I can get more char which is always yummy in my book. I didn't have the baklava today but last time I had it to go. I live about 15 minutes away and when I got home to sit down to enjoy it, it wasn't edible. The honey solidified and I just ended up binning it. I like their gyro. It tastes better than a lot of other gyros I've had and also isn't as messy. My wife gets the spanakopita. She says that's sometimes the ingredients aren't as fresh. The Greek salads and fries are also good. Their prices are reasonable nd the service is good. You can eat in or take out. I've been here twice and the service was great, food delicious, and has the charm you would expect of a family owned Greek restaurant. I highly recommend the chicken gyro. It is different than a souvlaki and difficult to find at most restaurants. They have layered marinated chicken rotating the same way as the lamb/beef gyro. We returned today for lunch. We were seated immediately, and the service was excellent, as it was last week. I love lamb, so I opted for the lamb shis kabob platter, with grilled vegetables on the side. The lamb was tender and moist, always a good sign. So few restaurants know how to prepare lamb, and I've been the victim of hard, chewy overcooked lamb before. But Zorba's understands this delicate meat. the vegetables came on four skewers, and were slices of baby eggplant, separated by grape tomatoes, seasoned with a light sauce. My wife ordered the fish wrap, and she said that the tender white fish was crispy on the outside but tender inside. My daughter enjoyed the falafel wrap, and she reports that, unlike the other night, the falafel was tender and not over-fried. My platter came with a lovely Greek salad, tossed with a light dressing and featuring kalamata olives, dolmades (stuffed grape leaf), and a LIGHT sprinkle of feta. Because of the heavy traffic in the evening, we might make Zorba's one of our go-to lunch places. read more

I don't get up to Northern Jersey often enough these days to visit my son in this most beautiful part of New Guernsey. When he suggested we head for a Greek resto to handle our hunger over lunch, I demurred. I knew he knew what was what. Zorbas sits in a late model strip center with a parking lot full of hot wheels. This is truly a sterling bedroom community an hour twenty west of the Palisades in traffic. We walked in around 1 on a Sunday afternoon. The room was half full, and we were quickly escorted to our table by a bright shiny host. ' A'. had been here before and knew what he wanted - Chicken Gyro and Greek Salad. Make that, two, please. Plus, some of those Zorba Fries that looked so tempting on the menu photo. About 10 minutes later, our server made a smiling delivery of our desires. The Gyros were wrapped tightly in aluminum foil and white paper. A bit of tearing and unwinding was needed to approach with incisors and bicuspids, but patience was rewarded. The Pita was a hot shield around the tender Chicken and sesame smooth tart Tahini. The cool Lettuce and Onion complemented them well. The Salad was Romaine acting as a vehicle for driving a load of Feta, Red Onion, and Brown Olives into our gullets. Very cool and sharp. The Zorba Fries was a large basket of crispies interspersed with a mother load of more Feta and Spices. Hot and delicious. Great concept for the "French" fry. Through it all we caught up with each other, and in truth the conversation overshadowed the meal. Sometimes the moment is so much more about relationships than food. But, I forced myself to tune into the meal long enough to be able to Yelp about it. So, Zorbas did its job - providing a wonderful environment for a long overdue conversation. For that alone I would be a fan. That the food was really tasty and satisfying, was, as they say, gravy. read more

We've been getting takeout from here for years and it has always been good, reliable and reasonable. However, recently things have changed. They now charge $13+ for "Greek salads" that are nothing more than a lot of iceberg, a lot of onion, two cucumber slices and four tomato chunks (I counted), two grape leaves and a sprinkle of feta. The gyro meat we added ($7) was a very generous portion and was tasty, but I couldn't get past those sad excuses for salads that came to over $20 each. The chopped salad was definitely a better option for the same price, so go for that if you must. I understand prices have gone up for everyone and I prefer to patronize local/small businesses but I don't think I'm going to order from here again any time soon, which makes me really sad. read more

We always order gyros or octopus and it is always tastes fresh and flavorful. But today we picked up a shrimp kabob, large Greek salad and Lamb Beef Gyro. The Greek salad was a huge disappointment. The whole salad was iceberg lettuce with very little tomatoes, cucumbers, feta cheese, olives, etc with red wine vinaigrette for $12.50. It was fresh but not worth the money for a surplus of iceberg lettuce and no Greek ingredients such as oregano and garlic. I did not try the shrimp because I am allergic to it. My sisters friend brought some take out over for dinner we had the octopus, a horiatiki salad and some dips with pita everything was outstanding ! The feta is very good quality and the salad was cut up perfectly. You can tell cheap feta from good feta especially as a Greek. Horiatiki is a Greek salad no lettuce .
