We did decide to use Akers, and overall we were very pleased with that choice. The factors that most won me over from their estimate was the clear level of expertise and familiarity that Ryan showed, along with the confidence from knowing that someone who was going to be doing the work was the one evaluating the situation. As an example, the path from the meter to our house crosses under the driveway as well as intersecting with our neighbor's side-sewer in an easement. Plenty of other plumbing companies expressed they'd have no trouble dealing with the situation in a trenchless run, but only Akers went as far as pointing out the exact spots they'd dig their pits and how that pathing would make sure there was no chance of boring through the side-sewer. Similarly, Ryan was the only one to point out how the existing line was part of our electrical grounding, and discuss using copper for a suitable distance outside the house before the switchover to PEX in order to keep things functional and compliant. In terms of contracting/business-ops there some amount of looseness that a larger company might not display (minor delays in sending documents, nebulous arrival time on the day of the work) but nothing that was really problematic, and I'd certainly rather have the tiny hiccups of working with real humans versus some overly-polished private-equity machine. Traci was gracious and clear when responding to my inquests, even over the weekend when she was self-admittedly out of town, which is above and beyond in my book. In terms of price I think they were perfectly fair, they weren't the lowest quote we had, but landed slightly below most of the other numbers we got, not anything where I felt like I was getting an enormous steal, but I had no qualms about the number they asked. The actual project work itself went great, they had the entire replacement done on one day in about 5 or 6 hours with minimal disruption, and even took the time to keep the top sod layer for each pit relatively intact in order to replace, so that by the time they left, you could barely tell where they had dug. The minimal interior work that was part of the project (new hole through the foundation concrete, new main shutoff valve and hookup to the rest of the interior plumbing) was similarly spotless. If we ever need similar outdoor plumbing work in the future, Akers is going to be an easy first call for an estimate.

Their crew came at first on an emergency call to address sewage build up for one resident. The HOA and the owner were happy of the timely response, professional diagnostics and repair as well as the reasonable pricing. Few months later, for a water leak in another unit, there was the second and planned visit by Wezee's at our HOA. In the last week I worked with Weeze's to replace a faulty expansion tank for the water heater in my unit. The scheduling was easy. On the service day Ruben arrived to assess the situation and he provided a competitive quote. Once I approved and we agreed on the scope, timeline and the cost, Wezee's sent in next hour or so Edgar. The crew had to rework some copper pipes, installed new valves, ensured that the pressure of the new expansion tank matches the pressure of the cold water supply pipes. Finally, they installed new flexible cold water and hot water connections to the existing water heater. Overall it took them about two hours from start to finish (including some trip to a their warehouse to grab the expansion tank). The crew left the site clean. Since then, we have the hot water as granted and the new expansion tank just works.

Bryce and his team at Seattle Drain Service did a fantastic job diagnosing our 1940s downspout and…read moredrain system that had gotten clogged after rainstorms. They carefully figured various issues (broken pipe on one downspout, a piece of downspout logged in another pipe and remaining kinds clogged), carefully fixed the issues and then ran the pipes clean to ensure everything worked and no new issues cropped up. They were quick and neat and reasonably priced especially compared to other companies who quoted just a one fix of a pressure wash which in our case would have caused more damage. Will use again if needed and definitely recommend.

And the worst part is that they truly do not care how their incompetence impacts and inconveniences their customers and their customers' neighbors. I have read some of the negative comments about this company, and am amazed at how the same, obviously thin-skinned, guy who chastises his own customers for not picking up the phone, reaching out and trying to resolve situations chose not to even try to call, reach out or try to resolve this situation. Hypocrisy much? Anyway, Danika plumbing had been recommended by an HOA member and I had previously used the company for a plumbing issue in 2019, with which I had been satisfied, so I decided to reach out to them for a current plumbing issue in my condo in Capitol Hill, Seattle. Travis, who was punctual and professional, was the first technician to be dispatched. He diagnosed the issue, but since I live in a condo building, notice of a water shut-off would need to be sent to all residents prior to the repair. He had mentioned the difficulty of finding parking in the area, so the company was well aware of the average drive time and time to find parking. The next day, Thursday, I called to schedule the repair for Thursday of the following week, which gave them plenty of time to schedule their resources and for me to coordinate with the HOA to send a notice of water shut off to the other residents in the building. I was advised that the repair appointment would be from 10.00am to 12.00pm, at which time I advised that there was no full-time building maintenance/manager and that the technician would need to shut the water off and drain the building (a process that would take approximately 20 minutes.) At 9.38am on the day of the appointment I received a text that the technician was on the way to my address for the 10am appointment. At 10.30am, when nobody had arrived or called with an update, I decided to call to ask why nobody had arrived yet. They seemed surprised or unaware but said they would reach out to the technician. At 10.42am I received a call from the technician, saying that he had to stop at Home Depot for a tool, that the traffic was bad and that he was still about 40 to 50 minutes out. The average drive time from Everett to Seattle is 40 to 50 minutes!!! One hour after being 'dispatched' he clearly had not even left, or had only just left, Everett. He said that he would be there at 11.30am, but assured me he could get the water drained and the repair completed in time to get the water back on by 12.00pm. He said it would save time if I would be willing to turn the water off and drain the building. Since I am neither qualified nor insured to do so, I declined. At 11.57am, with 3 minutes left in the 2 hour repair window, 3 minutes to when the water needed to be back on for the other residents and a full 2 hours and 19 minutes after Danika said he was dispatched, I received a call to let me know he had arrived at the property. He apologized and made numerous excuses about traffic, difficulty finding parking and having to get a tool at home depot (all of which, any company with a modicum of understanding of good customer service, let alone common sense, would have built into their scheduling beforehand) but had difficulty explaining why, even considering those factors, how it could have taken 2 hours and 19 minutes from time of dispatch to arrive at his job site. He told me to reach out to the office to reschedule, seemingly unbothered that I had taken time off from work for this appointment and that my neighbors had gone without using water for 2 hours for no reason at all, or that we would have to do it all over again for a second time. I advised him that the text saying that he was dispatched at 9.38am and on his way to my address was clearly untrue and dishonest, that it was an awful way to treat customers, and that I was not sure that I was either comfortable or confident in rescheduling with a company that had such low regard for its customers. Nonetheless, he said he would talk to his manager and have them reach out. Nobody from Danika ever reached out for the rest of the day. This morning at 11.15am, with no attempt being made to salvage the situation, or at the very least an apology, I called and requested that they reimburse the payment I had made for the repair that was never done. At that time I was told that accounting, the previous evening, had noted that they had issued a refund check. It is unbelievable that this company, obviously aware of the issues and inconvenience it had caused myself and my neighbors, made a conscious decision that they did not even need to reach out and apologize. Do better!!! Honesty is a good place to start!!! 2 hours 19 minutes to get from Everett to Seattle. On a bicycle maybe!

After the visit, I requested a basic written summary of what was inspected, what was observed, and what was recommended. The company refused to provide any written findings, technician notes, estimate, or service summary. The receptionist Kaitlyn said they would not provide a letter because they would then have to "back up" what the electrician said. She told me to submit my own audio recordings, video recordings, and text messages instead. She also refused to transfer me to the electrician, the owner. During the conversation, she was openly hostile, dismissive, and used profanity, including words such as "fuck" and "bitch." I also experienced her tone and comments as racist and discriminatory toward me as an Indian woman. I repeatedly explained that I was not asking the company to make up or certify an unsupported diagnosis. I was asking for a factual record of the visit: what the electrician checked, what he observed, what he told me, and whether further testing was needed. Instead of addressing the request professionally, the receptionist told me, in substance, that I could do whatever I wanted and that the company would not provide anything in writing. This raises a serious question: why send a licensed electrician, provide verbal opinions and recommendations, and then refuse to document the visit or allow the customer to speak with the technician or owner? The combination of refusing basic service documentation, blocking access to management, using profanity, and making me feel racially targeted was completely unacceptable. I would strongly advise customers to confirm in writing before hiring this company whether they will provide technician notes, findings, recommendations, estimates, and a professional escalation path if there is a dispute.

I had researched and purchased a faucet myself in advance for the replacement. Though it was from a well-known brand and had great reviews, the model I bought turned out to have plastic parts on the inside. Shamim showed us this and compared it to our current faucet (which had metal parts) and explained the differences and concerns for durability. So we ultimately went with the faucet that Shamim brought, which was also a great brand but definitely more sturdy since the inside parts were made of metal. Not only did Shamim and his colleague do efficient and good-quality work, they took time to show us what the problems were and why they recommended specific fixes. As new homeowners, we really appreciated how transparent Shamim was with his recommendations and that he took extra time to share his knowledge with us. And a bonus: as a no-shoes-inside household, I really appreciated that they automatically removed their shoes when they came in without being asked!
